How important is an author's physical appearance for his success?
>>
no one here writes well enough for looks to be the limiting factor

I wrote a work of genius
>>

I usually don't know before I start reading a book, and often the first time I get an idea is when I read something so bad that I flip to the back book cover picture to glare at something, and I might think I knew it, or, not what I expected, or, probably fake

The t shirt and general attire doesn’t help. If we was wearing a suit he’d look better
>>
>>25467968
He'd be fine if he had:
>better posture
>neater hair
>a less cringe t-shirt
He's hardly balding, he's just framed himself in the worst possible way that his freakishly long neck and receding hairline is the first thing you would notice, which is down to posture. But let's be honest: that t-shirt is what immediately signals him out as a maladjusted retard, not the hairline.

he's got a relatively normal, albeit boring face and just dresses badly. the reason he's unattractive is because you can infer that he was likely raised in a poor, white household by a single mother and no serious father figure. there's neither peps nor class to his attire. there was a poor attempt at doing something with the shirt, an attempt at humor maybe, but now I'm wondering if his penis really is botched, and I'm not thinking about the book. obviously it makes the look even worse.

I can sense his depression, the days he spent doomscrolling and the vapidity of his life through the screen. I wouldn't mind reading his book but now that I know he likely hasn't lived a real human life, I find myself wondering if what he has put on paper will make me feel anything.

the illusion is shattered before the attachement even started. most people are boring and unattractive. but are successful authors most people? there should be a point where you're too popular for people to even care about your looks. food for thought.

‘Never speak negatively about yourself, even as a joke. Your body doesn't know the difference.’

~ Bruce Lee

Nothing, indeed, is more revolting to English feelings than the spectacle of a human being obtruding on our notice his moral ulcers or scars, and tearing away that “decent drapery” which time or indulgence to human frailty may have drawn over them; accordingly, the greater part of our confessions (that is, spontaneous and extra-judicial confessions) proceed from demireps, adventurers, or swindlers: and for any such acts of gratuitous self-humiliation from those who can be supposed in sympathy with the decent and self-respecting part of society, we must look to French literature, or to that part of the German which is tainted with the spurious and defective sensibility of the French.

~ Thomas De Quincey

Just like in Bukowski's case?
>>
>>25468113
exactly. the name was on the tip of my tongue. thank you anon.
>>
Friendly reminded that it's a ragebait picture since some autist did the detective work.

Why does this thread keep getting made over and over again?

Dead board.

I would bet money that you're a woman, because you actually thought that shallow bile was food for thought.
>>
>>25467968
>women are only attracted to tall good looking men with full heads of hair

I learned this when I was 12, the guy in your pic is ugly as hell
>>25468093
he would be better if he had a better face and full head of hair and was not him

a lot of people will cope in their replies to this post

This. Why THAT jacket and THAT t-shirt? Do you really want your first public appearance to be associated with a joke about being impotent?
>>
>>25468526
From what I know of his channel, yeah he probably does.
>>
>>25468176
It's the tuber himself promoting his book for free

He's a youtube humorist who adapts wikipedia articles into whimsical video essays. I don't know if he has plans to run for public office.
