Are his ideas legit or is he a meme just like Freud?
I had a dream this morning in which I saw hyperborea edit style clips of the anima portrayed in media. I saw Maria from silent hill, scenes from movies, and other made up scenes of seductive women.I also had this dream yesterday:There is a position called king of the pope, which is still in subordination to the pope but is a very reverend position, my grandmother was the king and passed the position to me, and i now had authority of my family and was the king of it as well as king of the pope, my family came and celebrated and gave gifts. I then had to take training so that i can be a guard for the pope, and one part of the training we had to swim underwater naked, but we had a big mirror that we had to use to cover our genitals, if the instructors saw us fail to cover they would beat us up.any JungAnons want to tell me what that means
jung was right about the modern world losing touch with its soul. i also think he had a point with the collective unconscious and stuff like self, anima, animus and shadow however i dont believe it 100%. but his dream interpretation is straight up bullshit. it just seems so far fetched to me

>>25468813I think he had some good ideas and concepts, but they are mixed in with his schizohermeticmysticbabble, hence why they are more popular in creative media and not in academia. Also, I think the reason why people don't take him as seriously as Freud is because the latter is jewish.
Like many psychologists/psychoanalysts/whatever, he doesn't have a rigorous enough methodology to distinguish when he's doing science/metaphysics and when he's doing mysticism/superstition. I think his theories are very fascinating and can be used to create some great art, but as a map or a chart to understand human impulses and behavior actually, rather than nominally? Nah. Joyce was right.
