I mostly got these from spending too much time on the warosu archives

>That one anon who rallies against the focus on biosemiotics and ''the anthropocene'' in contemporary philosophy
>That one anon who got into Aztec & Mayan philosophy and likened it to a kind of ancient process philosophy
>That one anon who likes to bring up Marcellus Palingenius' Zodiacus Vitae when discussing the nature of reality. He also knows his Dostoevsky very well.
>That one extremely well read Platonist anon who gave excellent guides to the platonic philosophical tradition. He might be the only /lit/izen who has read Calcidius and Macrobius
>That one anon who likes to prop up Trika against Advaita Vedanta as the one true path in Hinduism (i don't really understand it yet but i've seen him around enough to recognize his style of rhetoric)
>Now I don't know if this is one guy or a couple of them, but there's an italian anon(s) who is suspiciously well-read in Italian Renaissance literature, or rather the counter-renaissance, and he'd bring up odd names like Francesco Zorzi
>That one anon who champions Kiwi literature and likes to recommend mid to late 20th century authors such as Frank Sargeson or Katherine Mansfield

If any of you niggas are still passing through this godforsaken board somehow, thanks for rocking my world. Your effortposts have expanded my worldview.

There are more recognizable (for terminally online people like me) guys here too, like guenonfag, klagesfag, anthroposofag..etc but I figured I'd mention the more under the radar lads instead, to prove that this board can still host a rare gem every once in a while

Does reading books help you see anon poster patterns?
>>
>>25471935
It can help you identify their references and where they got them from. Most importantly, it cuts through LARPers bullshit very effectively.
>>
>>25471932
I like the guy who pretends to be random different insane people in the wyt thread
>>
The antisocial goofball who wrote his thesis on pindar
>>
Did we get any follow up on that brilliant anon who was obsessed with 70s Cambodian music and was attempting to write a novel about it?
>>
>>25471932
There's a very small number of anons who read and discuss contemporary lit on here, and I've recognised one of them posting at least a couple times when magazines get brought up. Good source of recs.
>>
>>25472068
could you post some of those recommendations if you can still recall them? i don't know jack shit about contemporary literature and i feel a tad bit embarrassed about it

These were the magazine recs. Look up Joyland or whatever on the archive and you'll see a bit more discussion and individual stories (both he and I posted some we liked from different mags).

As far as books, I'll just dump my own recs:
>Gabriel Smith - Brat
Starts out in like a pastiche of alt lit, but gets really good. Author was a /lit/izen and posted about it here.
>Oisin Fagan - Nobber
Neat book, liked it a lot. Set during the plague, follows a few characters who careen together. Been meaning to read more from him.
>Barnardo Zannoni - My Stupid Intentions
Parable-esque story on knowledge. Told via variously anthropomorphised animals.
>Dennis Cooper - the Sluts
Book of forum interactions that build competing narratives of a character. Forum is a site for rating gay prosititutes. A real internet novel. Also read Frisk by him, and didn't realise until now it was part of a cycle.
>Colin Walsh - Kala
Just read this and liked it quite a bit. Was really engaging but felt too much like "just" a drama/mystery than what I'd normally like out of a novel.
>Sam Pink - Person
I'm doubtful as to how artful his writing truly is, but I liked Person very much. If you like the style of it, his other writings are fine too.
>Tao Lin - Eeeee Eee Eeee
Flat affect, terse stuff. Disconcerting to read, personally. Also liked Taipei but it died for me by the end. Him and Sam Pink represent an outdated genre of contemporary lit (alt lit) that's been done to death, but I won't pretend I don't like it.
>Edouard Leve - Suicide
A sort of musing characterisation of a man's friend who killed himself ("you"). Leve killed himself shortly after submitting the manuscript to his publisher. Read his Autoportrait if you like Suicide.
>Denis Johnson
A little old and dead to be called contemporary, but I like him too much to exclude him. Tore through a bunch of his stuff recently, including his poetry, starting with Train Dreams.

Stuff I plan to read:
>Saneh Sangsuk - the Understory
An anon posted about it here with high praise.
>Colin Barrett - Young Skins
Read a story of his in the Stinging Fly ("Let's Go Kill Ourselves") and liked it a lot.
>>
Most annoyingly:
>That copypaste anon that insists Romanticism was invented in Britain
and
>That Gnostic Peirce anon that used to post frequently
>>
>>25471932
what happened to Klagesfag anyways? haven;t seen him in awhile.
>>
Requesting more info on Anthroposofag. Let's not forget Girardfag also. A /lit/ classic. I haven't seen Guenonfag in ages.

The guy who seems to study medieval Islamic logic who has the deictic/didactic interpretation of Aristotle's logic.
>>
>that Wagnerfag

There's a particular Anon on here who always appears from the aether to get pissy every time we talk about Chesterton's The Ballad Of The White Horse.
>>
That one guy who seems to think we're unaware that all the pepeposters are the same guy because of his filterdodge edits.

That one guy who 'doesn't agree' with Evola, but likes him.

Someone I'm going to call occultanon who appears in esotericism threads with the same recommendations, except he posts photos of the text innards, answers questions and they're always on or near a bedside table with a lamp and a holy spirit icon. Got him going once about how turbotwinks destroyed israel, which is kind of true depending on how you think Hadrian might have reacted if Antinious was still alive when Bar Kokhba got cracking.
>>
>>25472192
Romanticism was invented in Britain and the only people who disagree are literal retard germanaboo goethe worshippers.
>>
>>25472267
The iranian guy? I haven't seen him on for a good while either. He probably got sick of 4chan's anti-intellectualism and left, but whose to say how long.
>>
>>25472281
>I haven't seen Guenonfag in ages
He was a glowie, or migrated to /x/.
