I read Childhood's End this week and its pretty embarrassing if /lit/ thinks this is good. It's naive technocratic nonsense and also very ethically mean-spirited. Even if you want to believe the nonsense like that Karellen can resolve all ideological disputes with a particularly well-reasoned speech or that religion would fade away naturally as mankind became learned, its just frankly embarrassing that his paradise of unrestricted artistic expression makes their key advancements in anime and video games. I don't know what else to say, it's the world view of a redditor perfectly distilled.However I did laugh at the first page introducing the black main character in act 2 beginning with an impassioned defence of using the word nigger in polite conversation.

My favourite sci-fi novel? UBIK by Philip K Dick.
I just finished RwR today. Fantastic. I loved it. Reminded me deeply of journals kept by previous century scientific expeditions on Earth. I really liked that the mystery was not solved, but instead simply presented and left on the table for speculation. Wonderful. Too bad we couldnt reenact it for real with Oumuamua.
