When I graduated highschool (so I was still 17) I asked my religion teacher, someone who I really respected and changed my views of a lot of things (it was an optional subject, the other was pretty much doing nothing in a classroom for an hour) for some books for that point of my life, you know, finishing high school and starting college. He recommended me The Razor's Edge by Maugham and Brothers Karamazov by Dostoyevski. I finally finished The Razor's Edge when I was 20 and while good, I don't think it changed my perspective on life too much. I'm now 1/3 into BK and yeah, I'd say by the time I'm finished I might suffer from an existential crisis.

>>
>>25487190
I haven't regretted a single action in my life and I don't think I will in the future. Being a goyslave for income does not really interest me. My current practices however do. What is it about participating in economy that makes it worthwhile? I'd like to hear it. If it's structure I already have it. If it's meaning I have it. If it's goals, I have those too. What then could be such a lack that not only do I not perceive but that also necessitates giving your most valuable asset: time?

Do you feel super lethargic and brain foggy and exhausted like you've been up all night? Try cutting out sugar and adding more protein to your diet maybe. There are things you might gain that you can't see from the outset. I also thought this about work and socialising. You can't exhaust the world through contemplation alone. And books (or other media) are no substitute. But you know yourself and your situation best, we can't say if you're right or wrong. Take a sober look, and see if you can take the path of least regret.

If it's the the kind of "tiredness" that makes you unable to concentrate, it's actually some form of chronic indigestion, possibly coeliac disease. You should investigate and address it as soon as possible, since at least some of these conditions are degenerative and will get worse over time.

Why isn't this thread able to produce any sound advice to OP?

Are the normies here coasting purely on inertia? Surely you need some framing and justification for your actions, no?
What's gonna happen if you hit a snag in your own life? How will you reorient yourself when the inertia giving your bearing is gone?

I wasted my 20s with health issues and I'm only going out now in my 30s, I feel like I'm a decade behind. All the social stuff I'm interested in I'm too old for, and I don't have the wife and kids for 30.

In terms of books I don't have great advice, I've read a lot but reading isn't a substitute for life.
>>
>>25494956
If its any consultation pretty much our entire generation missed out on their twenties due to covid.

I feel like there will be long twrm effects from this when people start hitting the late forties and going through their midlife crisis.
>>
>>25495016
That's actually true. I had a lot of health issues from 20-25, then 25-29 was on and off lockdowns and restrictions. Now I'm 32 and I've had what, 3 years of real adult life where I'm not on my bed in my parent's house?

I can't be the only one like this, I do wonder what it'll be like in 10-15 years.

I've only just now become a certified SCUBA diver at 35. You have time. Not a lot, but you've got more than I do. You don't need a book. Just find something you really want to do, something that makes your heart sing and set all your energy and intentions on it. This "life is over at thirty" shit is dumb, lame and gay and you need to stop doing it.

Good luck, I believe in (You). (NO, a relationship with a woman IS NOT the answer and WILL NOT make you happy or fulfilled)
>>
>>25495109
They're enjoyable but you have to actually live that life to make good books and movies.

>>25486916
"Nothing of note." Note to whom, and on what clock? You're auditing yourself against a ledger you didn't author, with a deadline borrowed from the exact economy you're scared of. "Before it's too late" — late for what, actually?

The list-piling in here is what the board wants to hear: fix a life-crisis with a purchase. And it's the same move you're making in post one. The only reply in this thread aimed at your actual wound is the one nobody upvotes — Bergson. Not for the content. Durée. How you relate to time, not how much you've shipped by 30.

Nobody here is going to hand you a book that changes the second half of your life. Books don't work that way. A life lived might.
>>
Seems to me, probably as a result of the waves of self-help crap that hit the shores of modern humanity, people started thinking in shortcuts when it comes to changing their lives. Even if you do happen to experience something profound in a short period of time there is still the matter of years passing and acclimating to whatever path you were taken on to reflect on you as a person. It's one of those things that are imperceptible day to day and only apparent as a time lapse or some such. Like stones weathered by streams of water.

As for why and this sucks, it's I don't know and yes life does suck. Those are the rules of this world, you don't necessarily have to like any of it to understand its mechanics.

Also, just to make things even more annoying, the core (You) doesn't even change even if everything does around it. If you hate the essence of yourself it's better to teach yourself to accept it now before you are horribly disappointed later
>>
>>25495602

It's pitiful that you retards can only understand a job as working as a slave for someone else. You can work for yourself, or for a friend, or for somebody you respect. But you are only willing to consider the lowest common denominator of work, that is, a place where they won't turn even YOU down, a place you have to put 0 effort to get in or out of. I'm sure you envision a life as a McDonalds employee when you say that. But you can be a farmer, in which case you work for yourself, or a fisherman, a mechanic or a bricklayer who takes pride and satisfaction in his work and need not look up to anybody, because you have learned to do the work yourself. Do you think a writer or an artist are any different ? Clearly you have no idea, but the only guarantee of a personal feeling of fulfillment is to put in effort. I've mentioned farming on purpose, because you don't even need to make money, just produce what you need to live. If your alternative is to starve you WILL do it with a passion. Anyway, listen if you want faggots, or be forced to take an actual job as a wageslave when you run out of time and money and haven't spent a single second of your life doing anything of worth.
>>
>>25495153
good media (books, even movies) CAN be actual life experience
>>25495109
don't worry about it, just live your life... you want more, do it... you want less, do it... it's your life
that being said we are in a very shitty period due to the consequences of industrial revolution (and mobile phones, smartphones, a.i. ...) so today, specifically, the biggest joy one can find would indeed be in reading or watching movies made before, say, the release of the iPhone

>>25495654

it seems to me that your kind (liberal, "print because we have the printing press! and print the good ones, because those satisfy my childhood trauma!") are exactly the problem with the world

"Working" is being a slave. Doing useful work has nothing to do with "working". You can sit 8 hours in an office jerking off and have been doing "work" because you're available and that's what you're being paid to be. That is being a slave. Flipping burgers at McDonalds is less demeaning. But even if you are actually working at a farm or whatever, doing shit that needs to be done, you're still a slave to the state taking a third of your produce while threatening to murder you if you try to resist.
>>
>>25497525
Your solution is simply to profit from other people who work as slaves. You are no better than the lowest parasite, if you don't think that by simply sitting back and doing nothing you aren't benefiting from the work of millions. And if you had a farm would you stop working for yourself and starve because you know that you have to pay taxes ?
