physical are obviously superior, but are they worth the money?
note that I'm trying to justify to myself to spend money on bookscurrently want to buy a couple of them
I switched to digital a year ago and never looked back.If I really value a book I might consider buying an original or high quality physical edition though.

I read physical books because I am a physical man in a physical world and all these screens are trying to make me as shallow as they are.
I read digital just out of convenience. Easier to carry a tablet with me in my pocket than a full book, plus the sheer amount you can store on them. You do miss out on the tactile sensation of flipping through a physical book but I also enjoy the part of downloading and organising my ebooks on my computer. Reminds me of doing the same with my music on iTunes years ago

i just cant make it through a e book, i just cant focus enough to make it through. on the other hand, i love audio books with all my heart.

I almost exclusively read print books. Some studies have shown that retention is decreased when using ebooks, and I've anecdotally confirmed this. I also feel physical books are superior because it's easier to go back and forth between pages when necessary. And of course there's the sentimental aspect of owning and holding a book, as well as the aesthetic value of them. I like ebooks for stuff like textbooks where I plan to take plenty of notes and do work on a piece of paper, and I'll use ebooks for hard to find/expensive books or books I'm really not interested in purchasing, but the vast majority of my books are physical copies. I get them used and pretty cheap from Thriftbooks so it's hardly an issue for me.

Even more highly recommended is one of those pocket e-readers. There's plenty of books I want to read that are too rare and/or expensive but almost always have a digital version I can download. idk about that mane, I've been reading on my phone with redist (anon recommended, and its been pretty good). I get to go on my balcony at night and just chill while I read, and I dont have to turn on any lights and attract all the mosquitoes, its also way more comfy to read in bed. Now I kinda wanna get a kindle I can use pirated stuff on but I imagine its not as comfy in bed since you can't just lay on the side since that thing is bulky. Physical books do have that collectible factor tho and annotating is easier if you're actually studying shit

For a long time now I've felt that even serious reading people are much too precious about books as-aesthetic-objects rather than as conveyances-of-textI've reformatted some of my books for letter size paper, printed them, and put them into 3-ring bindersThis has many advantages; arbitrary font/spacing, arbitrary dividers, pockets to keep notes (or I can add extra pages myself), lays flat on a desk or table, waterproof exterior, pages are easily replaceable, I can choose my preferred illustrations where applicable, I can correct errors/mistranslations in the original texts or make stylistic changes (like rendering of foreign names), etc.I genuinely don't know why this isn't more common or more commonly recommended

I have a Kobo that I used for a while when reading fiction but I stopped. I prefer reading on the phone, easier sync, one carry one thing, more responsive, but most importantly you can google shit and use wikipedia or search pictures, which I do often when reading non fiction.The blue light thing is a bit of a meme also, I don't see the difference, the one benefit eink has ime is reading outside on a sunny day. In the dark phone is more practical
