For example, when color TV was created, that was technically something new - but anyone could say "color has been added to things before, so this is nothing new, actually!". Everything is technically under the category of "something" and since "something" has always existed, then you can say that nothing is truly new, since it is the same thing. But is that line of thought really worth anything?Or maybe this is meant more along the lines of things existing in the collective subsconscious before being truly manifested - something like what the question "is music discovered or invented" touches on.

When I was younger and saw someone write something that infuriated me, I would let it live in my head, and I'd argue with them in my head, and I'd just give it more and more power. But eventually, I realised that - I can choose what to think about. It's obvious, but it really did clean up my mind, so to speak. Now, when I see someone write something that annoys me or makes me feel unpleasant, I just tell myself something like "hm, there are people out there who think this" and move on. It's still important to think critically and all, but at the same time, it's not good when you let anyone and anything live in your mind.
