It is funny how mad rich/highly educated people get over Shakespeare. Though the new competitor for dumb "actually it was someone else" are the midwit internet people who think it was a black woman.

>I have just had a letter from a man who wants my opinion as to whether Shakespeare's plays were written by Bacon. I feel inclined to write back: Sir, don't be a fool. The way in which Bacon speaks of Love would be enough to prove that he was not Shakespeare. "I know not how, but martial men are given to Love. I think it is but as they are given to wine, for perils commonly ask to be paid in pleasures." How could a man with such an idea of love write Romeo and Juliet?

Shakespeare was highly educated and later rich...

He knew little Latin and less greek

I mean the sonnets are great, idk about his plays though, Romeo and Juliet was really predictable and not dramatic enough for me.

The opinion of an expert classicist, but compared to the common man Shakespeare was practically fluent in Latin, not mention the evident scope of his reading in English. Just because Shakespeare was not prodigious in his knowledge of antiquity does not mean he was not very well educated.
