>you will never be a renowned published philosopher>you will never be one of the great intellectuals of the 21st century>you will never be world-class in your fieldHow do you cope with this feel? What is the point of becoming an expert in anything if you cannot be one of the greats?
>>25496458I go to work to generate profits for my jewish boss
I'm gonna die, and it's either gonna be something or nothing. Either way, this life won't matter.
>>25496458I'm content to know others have done it.
>>25496458I don't want to be any of that
>>25496458I don’t live for the approval of midwits and retards. I just want to read and write a bit and be at peace.
>>25496458>you will never be world-class in your fieldI am actually doing well on this one, don't care about the rest.
is that pic supposed to be depressing? bruh that apartment's like $5000 a month if that's manhattan that dude is ballin out
>>25496591No it's meant to be comfy, melancholic and slightly ethereal
>>25496591$5000 for that?
>>25496458who cares, I publish anyways
The entire thought process of your OP is rooted in the ego and spiritually misguided. I can't imagine thinking shit like "oh noooo people might not remember me or take my midwit blog posts seriously :(." Like imagine losing sleep over whether or not your fellow NPCs appreciate you lmao
>>25496591>It's not depressing because of the price tagWe might as well replace all metrics with price at this point
>>25496630Maybe like $2000 realistically, if that's the only roomIt really is that bad
>>25496458I would perfectly fine dying without having actually published anything at all as long as I was happy with my work.
>>25496744>muh egoEastern philosophy is garbage.
>>25496770"Eastern" philosophy is unironically right about everything. But you go ahead and keep reading western philosophers argue about the meaning of the word "be" for 700 pages while I'm reading esoteric tantric manuals on how to blast off into the next dimension. Less competition the better.
>>25496783Midwit: the postYou're not even close
>>25496458>What is the point of becoming an expert in anything if you cannot be one of the greats?Because there is interesting shit to study. And you don't have to be number one to make a contribution.
>>25496790Close to what?
>>25496783Do you read xianxia on royalroad by any chance
>>25496822Truth
>>25496465Jeez! Cheer up, Francis.Watch the Grey, peaceful warrior and don quixote's the impossible dream now!
>>25496458This is just vanity talking. Live your life!
>>25496458>you will never be a renowned published philosopherThe closest to such a desire I have ever felt was speculating how it would feel to be a living sage or cult leader. Getting a philosophy book traditionally published never crossed my mind. Especially when I realized all the philosophical ideas I had in my late teens turned out to already be written about in extreme detail by people before I was even born.>you will never be one of the great intellectuals of the 21st centurySuch people are just establishment pawns.>you will never be world-class in your fieldThat one stings a bit.I wanted to be a world class martial artist when I was younger. Several injuries and crushing poverty ruined such dreams.I cope by taking up a different artform to try and get good at that isn't contingent on my physical ability, health, and age.Maybe things will shape out to writing a decent book about martial arts that stands the test of time.
>>25496458An studio apartment like that in NYC is like $5K a month.
>>25496458I just like learning for its own sake
