I sometimes wonder how much fun it must have been to be living in London during that high point of the English Enlightenment. You had Addison, Steele, Johnson, Burke, Gibbon all kicking around. For poetry there was Pope and then Swift. For music, Handel was actively composing his greatest works.The reign of George III and then the Regency. It seems to have been one of the high, bright times and places in all of human history.
