I really enjoyed "Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" by Philip K. Dick. I think the androids were many times "more human" than even the humans. What do you think about the android question?
In the end, the android girl is cutting the legs of the spider to see if it will be able to move or not. The point of that was to demonstrate that the androids don't have empathy the way normal humans do. The only people who would think the androids are "more human" than the actual humans are people who don't produce the chemicals necessary to feel certain emotions. Like people with autism. Or of course, the common internet edgelord who thinks that is cool and edgy.
>>25498485I enjoyed it tooI think it delves into Asimov's idea of "Robots will become human, humans will become robots"And that the line between both will blur as technology advances and humans take on more synthetic parts, while robots take on more biological parts. >>25498533 raises a good point, but I was also unhappy with how unemotionally Deckard sleeps with Rachael even though he is married and how Rachael kills his goat. Also how routinely he kills the androids. And how humans pretty much load up whatever emotions they want to feel that day with their morning drugs. Both sides are flawed. My personal opinion is that we shouldn't be so critical about androids, we have our own flaws too and it's probably better to get along. Humans dehumanize other humans just fine without technology, so perhaps we should try to "humanize" others instead.
>>25498533People have been primed by Bladerunner to think it's about "Humans and androids aren't so different after all". Meanwhile, half the point of the book is that humans have empathy but the androids don't.
>>25498485In my view, if the androids don't have a "soul" or consciousness or whatever you want to call it, they should not have any rights other than as someones' property. It would be the same as a robot pretending to be a human. If they somehow did have one, then well I guess we are wrong about many things. There is no way to tell if "something is in there" for sure for someone that isn't you. A single android can only tell if they themself are with a soul. There is no way for us to tell if they are telling the truth or if it is a ruse.

>>25498485OK. Fine. Tell me what a fucking QALY is so I can be angry about your image.
>>25499049quality something life year, it like measures how many healthy life years a policy saves like if u saved 10 years from someone who was 80 it's not rated the same as saving 10 years from someone who was 30, oh adjusted, quality adjusted life years, how did u not know this? don't u guys read?

Used to be a science experiment they'd take a goldfish in a tank and show the students how its attitude control changed as you gradually cut off more and more of its fins.
>>25499060I don't read pretend science slop, no. Your explanation is unreadable. Can you simply tell me what the letters stand for?
>>25499060Is this an insurance thing?
>>25499072>pretend science slopyou think qalys are pretend science slop? damn u might be cognitively impaired or just a braindead normie
>>25499077communist government run healthcare in places like the uk use it to decide who gets treatment and who dies>In the United Kingdom, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), which advises on the use of health technologies within the National Health Service, used "£ per QALY" to evaluate their utility since its founding in 1999.
>>25499079OK I looked up what it means. Yes, it's slop. It's completely dishonest nonsense. Also the idea that you can measure the suffering of wild fish is hilariously delusional.
>>25499093the first time u heard of a qaly is from a tech bro blog? yikes.
>>25499099I've probably heard of it before but I tend to forget useless information.
