Basically a long running anime but you can’t skip the filler.
Still a really good book.

I read a textbook for writing screenplays that says this is the perfect story

Wait I think it was a Christmas Carol. Ignore me.

Why do you believe the comparison to anime is appropriate?

All anime writers are wannabe serious writers. They studied literature and have read all the classics.

>filler
Fuck off, shounen fag.

Lol, fuck anime, but based.

>book title is just the protagonist's name
Man, i fucking hate this. It communicates absolutelly nothing about the book and the first thing that comes to mind is that it will be like a pseudo biography and go into needless detail about shit like the character's very early childhood and every single letter they ever wrote in their entire life.

It was a good book I rather enjoyed the steerforth scenes

Just finished this, my first Dickens. I wouldn't say it felt like filler to me - there were definitely parts that were slower/less obviously relevant.. maybe characters I was less invested in, like Micawber. Didn't at all feel dragged out to me though, and it's the longest book I've ever read.
