The only time it is acceptable to read an eBook is in public. If you read paper copies in public, it's performative. In the comfort of your own home, paper is superior. Also, what's the point of the coil on the stand? Why not make it straight or slightly curved? I feel like Temu manufacturers just make unnecessary designs because that somehow appeals to braindead Temu shoppers.

Reading physical books in public is performative? Anon people avoid me and recoil instinctively from my gaze. Im just trying to enjoy this little life I have

Pretty sure the coiled design distributes weight better than just a straight line would.

I have a nitecore headlamp for camping that emits red light which doesn't suppress melatonin production. plus if you had a hard day of work you'd have no trouble sleeping, fag.

An ebook is the equivalent of having a lamp that only illuminates the page you're reading. It is also the world's dimmest lamp. That's an L for paperchuds you're the one soaking in blue rays at night.

Kindle edition of books are often terrible, without notes, full of typos and poorly formated. I've resorted to taking photos of some of the more uncomfortable physical books I read with a webcam that has an integrated light to read on my PC.

The coil is where you put the excess length of the stand. You have excess length so you have a larger range for which you can adjust it and where it is useful. Slightly too short is much worse than slightly too long specifically because you can coil the stand to take up excess length.
I feel like you would have to be cognitively impaired not to immediately understand why the stand is coiled, and have extremely limited spatial awareness/ intelligence if "why don't they make it straight or slightly curved" is even a question that pops into your head.

I'm not saying that this is a good or well executed design. I am also not saying it must be coiled or that there aren't other viable ways to approach the problem, only that you are a complete fucking retard if you can't immediately infer the answer to your own question before you take the time to ask it. I point this out because a troubling number of /lit/ users are under the mistaken impression that they are smart.
