This essay is utterly stupid but he was onto something with the "oversocialization" concept
>>
Is this even literature
>>
>>25503908
It's words on paper, what more do you need?
>>
>>25503908
How is it not?
>>
>>25503905
His analysis was perfect but his solutions were crude
>>
>>25503910
this
>>
>>25503941
are you being cheeky? the analysis was a collation of multiple sources, mainly Ellul's book on technology (which in turn is kind of "undercooked" when compared to his book Propaganda where he takes on the same ideas but actually fills in the details)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Industrial_Society_and_Its_Future#Influences
>>
>>25503950
Ellul and Kaczkinsky fundamentally disagree on the course of action to take regarding technology. I haven't read kaczinsky enough to understand what exactly he thought should be done but Ellul is pretty clear in his prescription
>>
>>25503910
based
>>
>>25503962
yeah, I did not comment on the "solutions" part
>>
>>25503905
He is certainly a fascinating individual from a forensic psychiatry standpoint, but the /pol/tards who idolise this terrorist are on par with the deranged witches who fan-girl over the trials of women who murder their children

He was a mentally ill loser, a stopped-clock that was right twice a day, who threw away his capacity to actually change the world so he could murder and maim completely innocent individuals.

He didn't take the pain on himself in some sort of rebellious demonstration to the world like Mishima (for example) when he wanted to make his stand. Nope, he hid in his faggot cabin and sent bombs in the mail.

And what did he achieve? His aims? Nope. He made himself the poster faggot to edgy 14 year olds on /pol/ and low-IQ societal reject adults.

Bravo.
>>
>>25504150
I'm not sure anyone idolizes him anymore. Back in like 2018/19 right-wing online spaces were awash with pro-Kaczynski content, but this has since died out completely. I think people were smitten with his psychoanalysis of leftists, called him a genius and then pretended to care about the anti-tech stuff before dropping it.

Here's one that popped up on youtube for me a few days back. Perfect example.

Wearing a Ted K t-shirt on your Google Youtube Channel, so people can see your Ted K t-shirt on their Apple iPhone, and consider buying it using PayPal and getting it dropshipped from China. Digital support from Amazon Web Services, naturally.

Not a single comment calling this Ritalin-avoider out for it (and I won't accept he's 'doing it ironically').
>>
>>25503910
lots of homos in /lit/ so anything with dicks is appealing kek
>>
>>25503950
>are you being cheeky?
No, I've never heard the problems of industrial/technological society put so clearly in the way only a savant could, his solutions however seemed quite mad to me but maybe I didn't understand them correctly.
>>
>>25504153
i still do 100%. it's just not worth talking about online. before you could find someone to have a back-and-forth with every now and then, share a thought and maybe a text, but now it's just the same spam and the same screeching over and over.
>>
>>25504167
What's wrong with wearing this shirt in particular?
>>
>>25503905
>i don't like the parts that criticize things i like but the parts where he says bad stuff about leftists really resonated with me
fascinating take anon, really original
your opinion on his comments about conservatives?
>>
>>25504150
The only aim he ever had was spreading his ideas and he was wildly successful at that, as evidenced by the fact that we are still discussing him and his ideas decades later.

>threw away his capacity to actually change the world
I don't know why some people have such a fetish for joining discussions about things they've never read. If you had read even his very brief manifesto you'd know that he is realistic about the chances of he or anyone else dismantling industrial society. He recognizes and admits that it's impossible and the only realistic possibility is that these ideas spread enough that, following a hypothetical global natural disaster, a small but dedicated minority will be able to take advantage of the system's temporary weakness to damage it more permanently.
>>
>>25504206
>What's wrong with wearing this shirt in particular?
My viewpoint is overt. I wont entertain your feign-ignorance bullshit

>>25504201
>i still do 100%. it's just not worth talking about online
how do you reconcile those two points? is it not like idolising Walden online from a $3million smart home enabled apartment in manhattan?

>>25504222
>The only aim he ever had was spreading his ideas and he was wildly successful at that, as evidenced by the fact that we are still discussing him and his ideas decades later.
Those edgy 14 year old /pol/tards will change the world any day now...

>I don't know why some people have such a fetish for joining discussions about things they've never read....
>[my argument is so robust and true I'm leading with an ad hominem]
Jeet level thinking. Opinions disregarded.
>>
>>25504215
Stfu fag, his other arguments against leftists are meh but oversocialization is a good one
>>
>>25504244
>reconcile, is it not like
no, not really. i'd prefer to be less technologically dependent and it would be better for me if i were but there's no hypocrisy there. have you read him? personal rejection of technology while living in a technological society is besides the point. hell, he even made it explicitly clear that any movement must and should use technology to reach its goals. this is more like a private health issue.
>>
>>25504150
Seething technophile. Wired Cofounder Kevin Kelly in his book What Technology Wants has an entire chapter about how Ted was right. The global technological system is an autonomous system that conditions and dehumanizes everyone. This is the most important issue in the world today but here you are being an oversocialized faggot about it.
>>25504244
>complains about supposed ad hominems
>accused everyone who takes Ted seriously as nothing but deranged retarded /pol/tards
>>
>>25504244
>Jeet level thinking. Opinions disregarded.
I shouldn't have to tell you this but personal insults are not a substitute for an argument. I can tell by how angry and defensive you are (and not just toward me) that I hit the nail on the head and you haven't read any of his work.

His manifesto is not that long and if you're as determined to argue about this topic as you apparently are then surely you realize you would be able to argue more effectively if you actually understood his ideas rather than trying to argue against whatever strawman you've concocted.

Reading the writings of people you dislike or disagree with is not something that should scare you. Any reasonably intelligent person should be able to entertain new ideas without accepting them. And once you've read and understood at least his basic manifesto, you'll be able to come into threads like these and offer arguments that are more effective than mindlessly flailing around insulting everyone.

Give it a shot kid, it's like a 30 minute read:

It's more literature than a lot of what gets discussed on this board.
>>
>>25503910
dangerously based
>>
>>25504167
Dimwit is dysgenic
>>
>>25504150
>And what did he achieve?
Mostly he lowered the general trust of the society we live in, and now we have a whole lot of restrictions on what can be sent by mail and you get put on a list for buying certain things.
>>
>>25504153
>I'm not sure anyone idolizes him anymore.
He is still fondly referred to as "uncle Ted" on /pol/, by both right and left wing fringe nuts, if you can believe it. Both sides want to claim him.
>>
>>25503905
No.
The exact OPPOSITE is the case.
>>
>>25505128
>Both sides want to claim him.
It's less that anyone wants to claim him and more that his ideas are not political. The problems he identifies are at the root of modern society and have nothing to do with partisan politics. You can disagree with his conclusions and suggested solutions to the problems he identifies but the problems themselves are objective fact.

Why doest this topic makes you so upset?
>>
>>25506094
>neet loser
He was a neet by choice, which is an important distinction. He could have been a tenured mathematics professor at Berkeley had he not chosen to resign.

>In late 1967, the 25-year-old Kaczynski became an acting assistant professor at the University of California, Berkeley, where he taught mathematics. He was the youngest assistant professor in the history of the university. By September 1968, Kaczynski was formally appointed to an assistant professorship, a sign that he was on track for tenure.

>poor reading comprehension
In that sentence the t-shirt is the object and it's the t-shirt being drop-shipped from China.

It amazing how many anons show up on a literature board completely unable to comprehend what is a very basic sentence.

>>25506190
If you two (or, let's face it - you're samefag) want to simp for 'uncle teddy' that's your business.
But please do it over on /pol/ with the other incels and tranny terrorist wannabes
This isn't /pol/

Why is this faggot seething over Theodore Kaczynski?

Why does this topic makes you so upset? In what way do you think that discussing the contents of a book is not appropriate for this board? What else is /lit/ for if not discussing books?

It seems like a bizarre thing for you to be getting so upset. You admitted you haven't even read any of the writings we're discussing so what are you even doing here, getting yourself worked up over a strawman?

It's clearly very destructive.

this glownigger is really having a meltdown
interesting to see that they still consider ted's ideas to be a threat

is it the timing? normies are leaning hard into anti-AI sentiment right now, protesting data centers, getting mad at flock cameras, etc etc
they're probably more open to considering ted's idea now than they've ever been
and of course that means that they have to work overtime trying to derail threads like this
>>
>>25506325
The only good glownigger is a pink smear on tarmac.

We might try to argue that they were based nationalists defending the homeland in the past but they've gone mask off and revealed their slavish addiction to control

Literally no one is worried about a mentally ill man already in prison or the mentally ill troons from /pol/ who dream of getting touched up by uncle ted in his love shack
The most rebellious you get is when you slam your bedroom door because mom bought the wrong type of chips

Reading true crime as romance is pure booktok

Not an argument. Ted's thesis also heavily built on Ellul and Mumford to a point of being derivative, a potential critique you could make of him i would have accepted if you weren't a retarded faggot.
