I have finished the first book and I really liked it. However I learned that the author hasn't released a new book in like 15 years so I don't think it will be ever finished. I want to find a similar series but one that is actually finished or will be

I guess Bakker's, though I didn't read it.

There are none.

Bakker's series isn't finished either.

Lord of the Rings, Narnia, Harry Potter, His Dark Materials, Twilight Saga

Similar in what way?

What did you like about it?

First law trilogy by Joe Abercrombie or Liveship traders by Robin Hobb.

There's nothing like ASOIAF, sorry.

The Accursed Kings. You get all the political jazz without the fantasy, in medieval France. Also, Conn Iggulden's Wars of the Roses books.

Malazan is the only series with the same complexity and depth as ASOIAF. It takes a lot of effort to get into though.
Kingkiller is supposedly also great, but I've never read it and it's also unfinished

I thought we're memeing Lyonnesse lately.

the one that gets recommended the most is the first law trilogy and it blows in comparison to ASOIAF. GRRM's prose is very good for genre standards (apart from AGOT) and is much better than most contemporary fantasy

just read tolkien

>Narnia,
I'd rather read this on film but it doesn't even seem like the first book is even planned. Is that because it was written last or something?

Realm of the Elderlings, kinda. Similarly "grimdark" and some political scheming. Much more character focused and less about the plot.
