I've always simply preferred physical books. It's what I grew up reading, and I find a kind of comfort in holding a paper book. I like having a physical library, too, because I lend books to people in my family and friend circle occasionally. It's nice being able to give them something off my shelf.But eventually your physical collection outgrows your bookcases, and your home can only hold so many bookcases, and the books just start piling up. I'm not the kind of person who likes clutter just for the sake of aesthetics, I'd prefer my book collection to be tidy and easily searchable. Well, that's one of the chief advantages of a digital book collection. It's much easier to organize and doesn't take up any space. It is also now much MUCH cheaper than physical books, whose prices have raised to the point that it's almost prohibitively expensive to exclusively read physical volumes. I still do read physically, I just don't buy new physical books willy-nilly the way I used to. Even used books are expensive unless you get them at a library sale or in very bad condition. I love library sales, but it's all inventory that is so unpopular they want to get rid of it, so you're panning for gold there.I like my ereader, now. It took time to get used to it, but it's extremely convenient and a good way to expand my collection again. I'm more willing to try stuff now that it's a lot cheaper to buy into a completely new author.

They are pretty popular amongst readersthe reason that they arent as ubiquitous as phones is that many people aren't readers, at least to the extent that they need something more than a small physical collection

I just ordered the Kobo Clara BW 6 inch model. Already wondering if I should've gotten the 7 inch color model instead. Not sure if color is a meme but it has physical buttons for pageturns and a larger screen.

I connected it to the internet once to update it and have had it in flight mode ever since and just transfer files onto it via calibre. I also read physical books but the Kobo is my go to just for convenience sake

It's easier to quickly parse info and skip to/from footnotes compared to ebooks. I like the look of books, the smell of books, loaning a copy to someone... and so on. I also have an ereader. I can get endless free books. I can't get ebooks of out of print books that I couldn't otherwise find or afford. Zero space taken up, not dusting, and so on.I like to read - so I like books AND ebooks. These losers show up in every hobby and need to be avoided like the plague. The worst I've ever seen is in photography where people will argue and obsess endless of gear and when you dig into it you find out they've only take 100 pics this year - and they're all snapshots of their cat. I realised they didn't actually like photography, the thing they actually love is the arguing and tribal bullshit.
