Hey /lit/ I want to get into reading the Bible specifically the King James version. I'm worried though that ones I find around might be edited so I was curious if this version was any good.

Cambridge King James is a decent edition KJV makes an already difficult book (for the average retarded normal person today) even harder, so you should have another translation handy when you get stumped. I also recommend writing out and summarizing the narrative as you go along, and using online resources to help build your visual memory. The joy of reading the Bible well is really about filling your mind with all of the fascinating parables, anecdotes, paradoxes and so on that have shaped the minds and the art of people for thousands of years, and if you just skim over "O Saul, he sayethed unto me that thou hast sayethed that my bloodkin was a boddard!" because your eyes glossed over all the contemporary English and made it feel bloodless and alien, you will miss that you were reading one of the most memorable and often cited little twists or cool things in the book This sounds pleb I know but it is a common pitfall. People want to read the KJV because it's the Most Literary One and then I ask them what they thought of Judges and they say "Judges??" because all they remember is ironmanning through unpleasant unnatural writing. Remember for thousands of years, the vast majority of people would access these stories through priests and family sharing them in natural language and probably often in dumbed down form, and this made them come to life. The Bible shouldn't be a chore to read, first and foremost. I read much of the KJV when I was young and only started to enjoy it years later when I listened to this because I was depressedhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVcUdDA4yl0This is KJV, but instead of dead dry text assaulting me it's acted out in a shamelessly earnest hammy way that made me love the Bible. Now when I read the text of the KJV, it comes to life like it did the first time I heard it.
who is out there publishing abridged bibles? no christian publishing house could get away with that. you can find the same kjv in any dollar store.
>>25505721That one is okay, but being an Oxford edition includes various minor errors (e.g. "fleeth" rather than "flieth" in Nahum 3:16). Cambridge Cameo Reference with Apocrypha is the best edition available at the moment.
never read only one version of the bible. it takes cross referencing finding where the differences lie, subtracting that shit and only the shared info is legit. old testamint is sloppy, moses was rejected by god. jesus was never god but one hell of a teacher. you can be better than jesus if you figure out the heat was courts and banks are fucking scams and jews are in fact criminals by code
