Why is Tradtionalism so Islamo-centric when Hindu texts were what started the movement?

1) Of all the eastern traditions, Islam and Buddhism are the most openly embracing of foreigners and accepting their conversion and/or initiation. Evidently most of the Trad school authors felt a closer affinity with Islam than Buddhism, but there are Buddhist trads (Marco Pallis) and non-Muslims ones (Borella, Wolfgang etc)

2) The movement wasnt “based on Hindu texts”, as Guenon says, he took Hindu metaphysics and especially Advaita Vedanta as the basis of his exposition of traditional metaphysics for a western audience because it doesnt invoke the same emotional reaction for some as Islam/Sufism does (due to history of conflict), but its less foreign than far-eastern thought and is more like western philosophy insofar as its intensely analytical and generally adheres to the principles of classical logic, thus its the ideal candidate to illustrate traditional metaphysics. He could have done the same and taken Sufi or Taoist metaphysics as the basis of his metaphysical exposition instead if he wanted to, each traditional form is regarded as complete in itself as a reflection or expression of the primordial truth, also he (and Schuon & Coomaraswamy) regarded Advaita as being especially accurate and precise, but that doesn’t make it “better” or make the others incomplete. The movement is based on the understanding of tradition and how it relates to the primordial metaphysical truth, Advaita is just one of multiple ways of conceptualizing this relation and can be interchanged with others.

3) In popular discourse there are oft-repeated claims that Guenon thought only Sufism/Islam was accessible to westerners and that Hinduism was totally off limits, but this is never actually true and he never said this. Certain Muslim trads like Schuon play this up and put words in his mouth which he never said. The schools of Hinduism closely rooted in the Vedas and ties intimately to the caste system like Vedanta are off-limits for westerners to formally participate, how Agamic/Tantric Hinduism exists in parallel to this and is fully open to westerners and non-Indians, the Tantric scriptures say women, shudras, foreigners etc can be initiated if they are mature/ready etc and westerners have been initiated into various Tantric shaivist schools before and even risen to senior ranks in some organizations.

One can only reason why he converted to Sufism, but I think i know why.

The reason he didn't convert to Hinduism is because it internets with the tradition itself even though he was well versed in it
The reason he was not catholic is because it is heading into/is in modernity
The reason he was not orthodox even though he spoke highly of it, was because the political situation of the nations at the time and its anti intellectual movement
The reason he was not taoist/other is because he is too foreign/far, requires to much steps and is to convoluted to get initiated into
The reason he was Muslim/sufi is because all he needed to do is cross the Mediterranean sea and learn Arabic, pretty simple

Just because Guenon and other converted to Islam doesn't necessarily make it Islamicate
>when Hindu texts were what started the movement?
You have never actually read a book about Traditionalism have you

Iirc Guenon claimed it as the last "tradition" that still offered serious insights to westerners. You could make several disingenuous claims about him based on this but his general thought skews in the direction of Islam.

Evola wound up pulling a Guenon Kaliyuga style fuckup with Islam and claimed all living Muslims had rejected Islam based on some political skirmishes or something Muslims don't take seriously. Evola also thought Islam was too passive even though it had a lengthy record of conflict, I don't remember how he weaseled his way around this one but there isn't much point in taking his ideas seriously on the topic.

Any of the remaining tradlarps are likely inconsequential, or if they converted it's not relevant what they had to say.

Evola would probably be a sufi if he learnt more

Then if he converted his opinions would be just as worthless. He also had issues cognizing how Islam has developed, jihad is closest to an undertaking, at some point this was turned into war and Evola basically tries to loop in at this point without understanding how the word is filtered. There could be 2 types and one is significantly less important than the other. He also would have extreme difficulty with Hadiths, on judgement day a scholar could outweigh a martyr, and this would likely ruin his opinions. Basically he can't recognize how the authority is decentralized. His opinions are worthless, you can stick to historical parallels of Rome and remain westernized and thoroughly modern in both the liberal and postmodern sense or convert in which case all of his opinions are still trash.

>there is no reason to take any of Evola's ideas on this seriously.
