This would be easy to do. It's the natural order of things, after all; you would only need to stop fighting the current, so to speak.A sane society would simply offer women pleasant alternative ways to pass the time (cooking, gossipping, gardening, entertaining small children) whilst simultaneously framing literacy as one of those grubby masculine activities (like car repairs or plumbing or developing the next generation of internet protocols) which have to be done but which are not worth a woman's time.The few women who persist in strange, angular, unwomanly curiosity about the written word should be treated with kindness by both sexes. We certainly don’t want any persecution or shaming. We just want their fellow females looking at them as people these days look on, say, trainspotters, i.e. indulgently, but without any desire to share their strange obsession.
