You probably read less than a book a week: what are you even doing? None of you faggots on /lit/ could get on my level. You read garbage and are barely living the “literary lifestyle.” You suck cock and read shit. You’re basically not even a /lit/izen.
Ressaisis-toi, mon pauv'vieux.
Reading an average sized novel a week is not impressive. Read longer books
What benefit do I get reading a book a week?
>>25519688Literature is the artform of posterity itself, the knowledge one generation is passing to the other. Zoomers do not believe in the future.
>>25519726Millennials have scarcely forged a literary compendium as it is. Hitting their mid-40s and the best they have to offer is My Year of Rest and Relaxation? Milk and Honey? Fucking Fourth Wing, The Wandering Inn, DCC? Good grief.
>>25519688Yeah I haven't read many books in my life and I don't read much per week. I don't care. I'm not competing with others. I stopped caring about what you achieve and started focusing on the process itself instead. I think this is actually important. Reading and learning should be an intransitive activity, not a transitive activity. Many people have a mentality that is very utilitarian, goal-oriented, achievement-oriented. Everything must have a tangible result. Everything is done for the tangible product. This mentality is counterproductive to becoming cultured, is the opposite of being cultured, and is the mentality that an actual education does away with. If someone says they're learning French for example, there are two ways this can be interpreted:1) focusing on the achievement, the end product2) focusing on the process itselfThe book The Trivium by Miriam Joseph says there are two kinds of arts; the transitive arts, which are the utilitarian arts and the fine arts; and the intransitive arts, which are the liberal arts. It is a fact that the liberal arts, in the medieval sense of the term, have been a privilege of a small percentage of the population. The rest have been deliberately deprived of it. And this includes the privileged group fostering curiosity, while the slaves are pushed into a very utilitarian pragmatic mentality, where learning is done for the tangible end product or else it has no value. Again, this exact mentality is what a true education, ie a liberal education, is all about doing away with. A true education is also about increasing your literacy. That means reading with greater understanding, it doesn't mean reading faster or having read a greater number of books. This is also something they brainwash the masses with, a hollowed out notion of what literacy means.
>>25519742uh white men have been actively purged from popular literature? esp ones that are not brainwashed reflexive libs?maybe it is you who have failed them? sweetie?
>>25519752> there are two kinds of arts; the transitive arts, which are the utilitarian arts and the fine arts; and the intransitive arts, which are the liberal arts. omg, I remember you from earlier on the board
