I like (c)rap and the album RTJ2 (slap)s just as hard as it did in high school for me. Many would consider that to be (c)ringe(c)ore (c)rap but I still like it.

>>25530388A few months ago when I was having lunch with my mom she told me that she was concerned because she had been reading news on the internet and stumbled upon one story of a negligent parent leaving their baby inside a hot car circumstance after which the baby died. Horrified, my good mother clicked into the story and read through it, but afterward — my mother continued — she kept seeing posts an articles about small children overheating inside parent's cars! She kept clicking them and reading them, concluding eventually that there was an epidemic of children overheating in cars; this so upset her that she decided to talk it over with me. I explained to her that in the internet there are systems designed to retain her attention the longest time possible by serving her the content she is most attracted to. That the news is not a direct representation of rality and combined the the forementioned systems they could grossly distort it. Thankfully she was reassured by my explanation and felt better. But every so often I see people with completely different understandings of the world slap-fighting online and cannot help but remember my mom and her epidemic of children suffocating inside of hot cars.

I hate myself for being so weak and scatterbrained. I don't go to work, stay here watching stupid youtube skits or videos of cars being destroyed in a video game. I spend the entire day on bed glued to screens. I don't even feel any lust yet I look at porn. I don't want to think, I don't want to think for a second because then I realize how much of a baby I'm being and how pointless all that I do is. And then I feel guilty over the people who love me and want me to get better, but I won't, because I'm this stupid piece of shit and I'm back to 4chan after 2 years and here comes the self-pity again. Fucking hell. I hate being me. The reason my dreams will never happen is that the person dreaming them is me
>this is literally mfw I came up with the greatest novel idea of all timeHOOOLLLYYYY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTT!!!!!I kept trying to figure out to stretch my basic ideas into full length novels, and I thought maybe asking AI for general advice on stretching out ideas through novels would help, but it kept misunderstanding my queries so hard I accidentally came up with all the answers myself by coming up with new inventive ways and examples to prove it wrong.I'M A FUCKING GENIUS. Are people even REAL anymore? You see them in stores, on the street, when you’re working or they’re working, or when you go to a social event once a week at most (if you even GO to social events). THAT’S IT. I feel like people used to swim in an ocean of people, until cars and modern infrastructure ruined everything.

My ultimate capeshit plot to turn a trillion in profit.Start a new Star Wars trilogy. Two separate races on one planet with the one in control. First movie: Antihero protagonist and his mates are of the different race. They kill, capture important things, destroy important targets, etc. The protagonist's mates are all killed in the first movie. The main villain of this first movie is a woman with ice powers while he has fire powers (Yes we will introduce more elemental shit to star wars ez money)(they have lightsabers ofc). The woman could be a ruler of a certain section of land; we need the other two movies to focus on the bigger picture. Protagonist wins in epic fight. (Use metal gear rising type ost for the soundtracks instead of normal soundtrack stuff).Second movie: more of the royal family is introduced and the protagonist has to find his way on his own and get revenge for their deaths. (Some were killed by the first villain, others were not). His flame powers become even more powerful. Blah blah fill in plot here, he eventually finds the main rulers getting aboard a ship and one of the knights or whatnot comes to duel the protagonist. Make this guy cool af and flamboyant. Bait protagonist into an honourable duel without flame powers, pure lightsaber. The protagonist gets bested, gets made, uses flames, knight dodges and stabs the protagonist in the heart and the movie ends. Third movie. Barely survived. Takes on a different identity for a while before having someone or some group give him advice that leads him back on path. Blah blah plot. He gets captured by the main villain (knight is off planet or something. This knight gets made more special because he will be the only one who bested the protagonist ever.) We find out the ruler actually genocided our protagonist's race because he believes that his fury is representative of their whole race and this will make the planet a utopia. Ruler flies him somewhere so they can duel while he monologues. When they get off to fight, the ruler easily wins but it turns out it was a clone. He speeds back and finds his planet in flames as the protagonist genocided his race in retaliation. They have an epic duel and the protagonist barely wins. He feels dejected however and the movie ends with him flipping his lightsaber in the air in a type of lightsaber roulette and we are left wondering if he committed suicide or not.We will then introduce him into the mcu (multiverse stuff). He saves all the heroes and solos whatever villain they were fighting (galactus or someone else).Movies continue in mcu while he copes with his genocidal past. Movies keep being made with him and other avengers. The last movie ends with him fighting an extremely powerful villain that could wipe out all multiversal life easily. The villain wants some fun so he challenges our hero in a pocket universe to contain them. The villain's henchmen and army as well as the other heroes fight in the normal universe. 1/2
>>25530544Two battles at onceHe finally bests the villain as he unlocks an anime type power transformation that turns his flames and powers into some of the most powerful stuff in fiction. Figures out his secret to power along the way through the movies. He can essentially use his flames as an energy source to the world and can infinitely generate this. This causes him tons of pain but he could constantly regenerate himself and never age. He redeems himself by being the ultimate sacrifice. Trapping himself in a fortress and telling the heroes to use whatever restraining spells they have on him to keep him in place for as long as need be. He becomes an infinite energy source to the multiverse for everything. Turns everything into a utopia. Even resurrects all of the people he genocided. All of this gives him continuous immense agony but he is fine with it. This will go on indefinitely. 2/2

Spit blood on the page. That's your mark, the teeth are optional. You cant be coerced if you agree that you werent. Future litigation is defered to The Council, and an appointment will be scheduled, pending review, sometime in the next couple of decades. You can object, all citizens are free to object, but arbitration is binding and as the administrator I already know the outcome in your case.Cheer up. You're still human, right? Look over there, you could be one of those sorry thralls, completely vivisected then reconstiuted with a virtual copy of your conciousness cleansed by tech-gnosis. They dont even know how horrible they have it. You my friend still have the freedom to pay 85% of your now garnished salary to live in a room within a mid-low tier arcology; there may even be a woman to dream about.Enjoy that cup of watee, free of charge, unless further arbitration is required. Then you will assume the initial cost plus 24% compounded interest over a 50 year term. It's only fair.

>>25531335>Current day needs something new. Totally new. Something so radical and beyond everything already known that it literally implodes reality.I was actually thinking about this the other day after your other post. How about a society where all sexual needs are taken care of? You simply show up to a government sex station (or, if you live in a smaller town without those services, go to some public place in your underwear and wait for someone to assist you) and you receive sex as an act of generosity from your fellow citizens. Sex would be treated like food or water.
>>25531346French utopian writers have already written about that. Sex is only one aspect of life, anyway.
>>25531331To anyone who's sensible, probably nothing. Still, I feel bitter.
>>25531346Sex is highly overrated.
The problem with having a cinnamon roll for breakfast is after you finish it, you begin to crave something hot, some actual food, so you end up essentially eating two meals for breakfast!
>>25531355It's an essential part of fulfillment. It's the equivalent of exploring art and philosophy but for your body.
>>25531346> Sex would be treated like food or water. The answer is simple: the formation of such a government would lead to the creation of a degenerate race, for the very same reason with wich inbreeding causes the decay of the aristocracies: the diformed breed together with the formed (because in the final stage of any given class society, being a member of the upper class suffices to have sex), wich results in more decayed offspring, and so on, until the aristocracy or in your case the whole nation dies out.I very well agree that the current disease is a disease of class, that the increasing gap between the rich and the poor is precisely what is increasingly turning the modern aristocracies into a bunch of degenerates. Perhaps in earlier eras this revolution would not have happened as quickly, for the upper classes always lived together with a stock of servants who in that case would have refreshed the blood of the aristocracy, prolonging its life. Unfortunately for the modern system, robotization will only accelerate the need of an aristocracy turned narcissistic to diverge from the people, missing out entirely on the new sexual revolution, wich happens silently over the decades before erupting into the eradication of the current system.Maybe this was a bit of a long post but I think I'm onto something.

>>25531398I’ve often started to consider that the point of existence might not be yeah anything to do with morals, but more so something to do with like emergent or like demonstration, you have to ask you know what was not able what could one not accomplish and some metaphysical, you know what non- non-physical realm that would require a physical realm to exist and so might assume something like demonsrability of some idea within a finite or ordered/numbered system to contain its manifestation

I know it's another irrational belief, but the fact that women used to enter my life with regularity and under circumstances of peculiar design up until my psychotic break, which has made me feel as if I lost some fundamental connection to reality, and since then there has been absolutely no instance of this pattern's existence, does reinforce the idea that this break was something more than can be described by a simple mechanistic account of the universe. It's still ridiculous, admittedly, but a lingering feeling that drains me from time to time.

Not that you can't get laid anymore or something, just that, society as such only exists for the rich. There's the rich, that you can rise up to by giving up on your personality almost entirely and become an artificial persona, where you copy their manners, preach their values, dress the current fashion...There's the uprooted proletarian class, no one really knows in what numbers or what they do in their free time, what their values are but no one cares anyway.I have found a third way: developping a slightly original personality, an authentic way of dressing up, moreover, watching and listening with a piercing eye and a sharp ear everything that is related to society, grasp every yet so unimportant detail, from there, establish new things to say that are so novel, that merely hearing them can cause someone to shed a tear, or to physically implode from sensory overload.

Anyone who is genuinely upset by its relatively benign social commentary is a complete baby, which I find ironic, because it's mostly people with a chronic fixation on masculinity, and those people are probably the most hypersensitive to anything that could even be remotely be perceived as a threat to it, which shows that, by their own logic, they are probably the actually the least masculine people in society.

>>25531751I acknowledge that, but it's ultimately just abstract narrative architecture that allows the mind to organize experience in a coherent way, rather than being anything demonstrative of an underlying truth. If the self doesn't actually exist, then everything derived from it is equally illusory. So it doesn't make sense to me that the fundamental processes of the universe can generate something as sophisticated as an eye, which requires profound logical integrity, would also create a foundational concept of awareness that is actually untue.

>>25531879You're in a strangely similar situation to me. I'm also 33, and roughly ten years ago I completely lost my mind while my life was at its peak and lost everything, including someone who is was deeply convinced was my actual soulmate. That broke me on a the most fundamental level, so much so that since then I've been completely incapable of maintaining any semblance of connection to reality that feels truly real, among many other things.I don't really have any advice for you that would feel truly substantial, and even though I feel like some brief, sympathetic connection can offer some temporary relief, it almost certainly lacks the ability to restore any foundational integrity to one's mind. So, that really sucks, man. You most likely did nothing to deserve it, and are just simply one of the countless victims of the universe's mercilessly indifferent causal machinery. But whatever, even if you manage to reconstruct yourself to experience some sincere beauty to the world, while understanding it is merely learning to appreciate the intricacies of mirage, which is something respectable in itself, that life is still worth experiencing, even if you're only capable of doing so from a view only shared by the dead.

Which exact systems, I don't know, but it's not something that can be rectified through reconditioning your mind in an abstract way, because it's rooted in physiology. This is why the inherent condemnation of such feelings as being evidence of a moral failing is absurd, because it's not anything anyone has actual control over. So, I guess feel more secure in the fact that you are only satisfying these urges in a morally permissable way, because it's probably something you'll never be capable of changing about yourself.
>>25531995>morally permissable wayRight, it's not though.

>>25532008I don't fully understand your greentext, because it's so vague it could be construed that you're making the argument that sexual release is inherently immoral. Most likely not the case.Regardless, what you're doing is just as morally unjustifiable as someone who murders an NPC in a video game.

>>25532019Masturbation being considered immoral by many cultures throughout history is not actual evidence that it is, and there are plenty of instances of it not only being accepted, but even explored as form of spiritual activity.I'm just going to be a dick in this slight instance, but the fact you can't think of a "single moral tradition on earth" implies that you have an exhaustive understanding of them, when it's clear that you have nothing close. So, whatever, that was just to resolve a spike in aggression that wasn't actually related to this conversation. This is most likely going to go nowhere, and I doubt I'm even talking to the original guy, but I guess we'll see.

>>25532054I don't quite think I can accept that, because it's essentially an argument that one should remain in the Matrix.
>>25532075Hardly, because again, you keep thinking in dualistic terms, like there's the appearance and then the thing-in-itself, the truth you can't seem to penetrate. For thought processes, for personality, for the 'self', there isn't -- all that exists are the actions (which includes thought, of course). The only discovery is in doing, and in doing, we choose what works. Ya dig? This isn't like we're cavemen who come across a light switch and don't worry about why things turn on when you flip it, it just does -- this is more akin to what does a word *actually* mean beyond its mere usage? except it's the usage that defines it.

>>25532082I don't think recognizing the fact that our concept of self isn't actually real is a result of a flawed, dualistic preoccupation with appearances and objects. I certainly believe in the mind's ability to comprehend truth, even though it's from within its own constructed experience, but I also acknowledge that simply because an experience is constructed, that doesn't exclude it from being actually real. It's an actual part of reality, with a clear phenominology. To say that our experience of reality isn't actually real is completely absurd, because it weren't actually real, there would have never been an instance of anybody ever experiencing it.That said, the concept of self not being real is a categorically different issue, because it's not a matter of considering an appearance less real than its object, but the fact it's the most central formative aspect of experience, yet entirely a conscious fabrication with no actual substance. So it's less the disconnection between appearance and object, and more the fact that this distinct object is nothing more than an appearance.
>>25532108I haven't read that but she's genuinely a great author on top of being beautiful. Agua Viva is one of my favorites.
>>25532119>So it's less the disconnection between appearance and object, and more the fact that this distinct object is nothing more than an appearance.Sorry, I should have been more clear. There's a popular liberal Twitter account who likes to tweet about gender politics and its effect on US politics. She's intensely second-wave feminist, approaching radfem without ever actually being radfem. The usual stuff: right-wing men want women to be private property and left-wing men want women to be public property, the patriarchy warps all things, women have to stop pandering to misogynistic men, women must look out for their own interests. None of this is wrong, even if I often disagree with her political analysis. It's hilarious how she seemingly hasn't noticed that she very frequently calls herself hot, sexy, attractive, desirable, a maneater, a woman who possesses such intense sexual gravity that men are barking for a chance to kiss the ground she walks on. (There's also this weird thing she does where she repeatedly reminds the viewer how short and small she is. Lmfao.) She seemingly hasn't noticed that she describes herself this way just as often if not more often than she calls herself intelligent. The second part of that is true, she is very smart, but the first part of that... I'm not being unjust when I say it's not true. She has large breasts and she isn't ugly but she's not conventionally attractive. I always wonder if she hears herself when she posts "men just want us for our bodies" and then her next post is "I am so hot that men shake when they see me." When she posts about men she finds attractive, which she does occasionally just for fun, they're always tall, always muscular, and always traditionally masculine in appearance or in vibe.I'm starting to realize that this isn't uncommon among straight women who write, think, or talk about gender politics. In fact, it's extremely common. I think this is what happens when your reason is telling you one thing and your desire is telling you the other. There's nothing wrong with wanting to be sexually attractive, after all everyone wants to be attractive and everyone wants to be desired, but it's funny to intensely critique every single aspect of every single facet of how the patriarchy operates except for when it turns you on and then it's actually feminist to always be the small sexy helpless little girl overwhelmed by the big buff manly macho man, but you never talk about that because you know without knowing that it makes you sound very unfeminist. You can just like what you like without all this mental gymnastics. Repression is a hell of a drug and it's always a bad day to be a Freud hater, I guess.
>>25532538(I think that she's mistaken the size of her breasts for her facial attractiveness. This is the female version of when a man is unattractive facially but is jacked with a six-pack. The patriarchy is real but the mistake is thinking that just because you're a feminist woman means you don't have anything to do with regards to its effects on your desire. We're all confused about ourselves and what we want. This phenomenon isn't unique to men or women nor is it specific to her even though it appears to be extremely strong in her.)
>>25532538and you jumped right into this three paragraph cross-analysis about her on 4chan with a half-second of self-awareness.>hilarious how she seemingly hasn't noticed yeah it’s funny how these things work. no one knows what's wrong with themselves, and everyone else can see it right away.

>>25532557Ok Darb.>>25532538It's actually the repressive hypothesis undermining her position. I am a large man, unswayed by beguiling females because of my prolific youth. She knows as well as I do that someone of my stature and physique is a threat, and someone who is also articulate and well read is basically the anathema to her locus, regardless of any merit I may have beyond that, which undermines her entire position. So, to minimize her opposition she leans in and winks. She embraces and fetishizes what she complains about, but because she twists it and takes ownership she thinks it's satire, when it's desire, like you said. The reality of arguing with someone like this is she will be unable to defend her position under even mild scrutiny. She is only allowed her position by virtue of her character and the structure that supports her, so she has no reason to be consistent; hyopcrisy is irrelevant because she knows what she's saying is incredulous in the first place.

Writing some gay little philosophical thoughts."This, in a sense, almost seems like the foundation of reality is an absurdity, in that it is a causal relationship between existence and nothingness whose nature transcends any ability to be logically defined, because we can only describe it from within the structure of reality, even though it extends into nothingness, which is not something with any logical structure. It is basically a demonstration of the simple fact that no system of logic is capable of determining its own truth from within itself, except applied to applied to reality's furthest conceptual horizon, which is the reason for its own existence, something that can only be understood by stepping outside the boundary of everything we consider real."I'm going to be famous one day. You'll see. People will call me smart, and I'll start dating a pretty girl who reads books.
>>25532663I know what each of these words means
>>25532669Proud of you.
>>25532663a causal relationship requires two things capable of causing and being caused. nothingness, by definition, is bad at both.
>>25532698That's a fair objection, so I guess I should clarify the idea more.Basically, the idea was that reality itself is the only thing that can be considered to have complete logical self-sufficiency, rendering its existence as a necessary consequence of its own internal nature. But I decided to say fuck that and say it was actually contingent on its relationship to nothingness, the only thing beyond beyond reality's entire nature. So, even though goblins aren't real, they still exist as a concept with intrinsic logical structure, whereas nothingness has something unique to it, which is that every conception we create does absolutely nothing to improve our comprehension of it, because it is the only thing that we can not even form the most remote impression of. It is something beyond everything that exists, because it is the only thing that truly lacks any existence. So, basically, within the structure of reality, nothingness functions as a type of boundary condition. It is the exact limitation of reality's capacity to self-generate, because it is the only thing that exists outside. This means that, even though nothingness is the only thing is we can consider to not have any dimension of reality, this is exactly what makes it the only thing that makes reality's internal logic capable of remaining coherent. It's like cheeky bullshit, but it's basically "What makes reality exist? Nothing." This seems like an empty statement at first, but shows an actual causal relationship between the two that can not actually logically structured. We can develop extremely complex ideas of how this relationship could possible operate, such as how reality's relationship to nothingness maintains its internal coherence, but we can only describe the relationship from the perspective of the reality side of the equation, which would render the model forever incomplete.

>>25532731boundary condition is a value operating inside a system. nothingness can’t be a boundary condition on reality because it can’t supply a value.
Got published again in a literary magazine in my cunt. Feels good, mam.https://fictiunea.ro/2026/222/art12/index.html
My simpleton of a colleague comes to the office wearing this shirt that says “Punk’s not dead” with fitting artwork along, and I haven’t even got myself a proper autumnal wardrobe.
If a man is not a contemptuous cooler-than-thou type from 18-25, he has no heart. If a man remains a contemptuous cooler-than-thou type past 30, he has no brain. The period from 25-30 must be taken on a case-by-case basis, but is usually a case of having no brain.

>>25532743So, basically, nothingness isn't the boundary condition in itself, because it is necessarily beyond the system. What we have instead is how reality operates with the fact that there is nothing beyond it. Basically, we can acknowledge that reality operates in a logical way. There's no possible way that the law of physics could produce an event that was instrinsically contradictory. So, it's not that reality has some concept of nothingness and uses this a foundational structure, but rather that it operates within a system of logic where nothingness functions as something reality is capable of reacting to, even though only as an internal condition, rather than a direct relationship.Consider the idea of universal expansion. What is actually a necessary logical component of the concept of the universe expanding infinitely with nothing beyond it, is not only the fact that the universe is only thing that exists, but also the inseparable fact that there is nothing beyond it. This is not simply an irrelevant addition, because it's a fundamental distinction between reality being entirely self-sufficient, and it being ultimately dependent on a relationship between itself and something beyond that it is intrinsic to its structure, while having no existence in itself. So, that's the essential value nothingness provides. The value isn't derived from incorporating nothingness itself in the system, but rather incorporating nothingness as a type of logical ghost. So, what we have is not reality directly responding to nothingness, but rather using its relationship to nothingness as the formative element.
>>25532810>the fact that the universe is only thing that exists, but also the inseparable fact that there is nothing beyond itthese aren’t two facts. it’s one fact.
I crave female attention.
>>25532817But it actually isn't, even though separating the two can only be done by a distinction that is razor thin, and the fact they are virtually identical is the probably the best example of their underlying relationship. The difference between the universe being the only thing that exists and that there is nothing beyond the universe is that the first is an acknowledgement of the universe's intrinsic nature, while the second is more of a statement about nothingness's relationship to it. You can not simply say that the universe is the only thing that exists without ever incorporating a concept of nothingness into the description, because instead what you have is a understanding of the relationship as not there being nothing beyond existence, but that what's beyond existence is just simply unknown, or perhaps undefined.

>>25532836my house is the only building on the island / there is no other building on the island
>>25532841That is not really the same thing, as I just showed you with my example that stating the universe is the only thing that exists necessitates a fundamental relationship to nothingness that is not directly expressed by the statement itself, because you can easily say that what lies external to reality is not necessarily nothingness, but some undefined state of being that lacks the structural coherence that would render it capable of actually being considered truly real, or something equally absurd.
>>25532851>nothing beyond itis a way of saying the question ‘what's outside?’ doesn't have a referent, not that there's a referent called Nothing.
>>25532804Honestly, feels mid. Muriel Spark’s style is absolutely marvelous, I love the way she plays with the timeline, but the theme is kinda meh - boys and clothes in post-WWII England. Basically Sex and the City, but make it 40s. I keep going, but don’t think I’ll pick it up for a re-read.
>>25532855I don't think that this exclusion is entirely justified, because it ignores an underlying conceptual logic between the two statements that would render them equally valid.Saying something has no referent still gives a relationship to a concept of absence instead of being a strict logical containment.
>>25532866that’s a category error about how negation works.
>>25532881I don't quite understand.Please explain.
>>25532866the sentence relates to the concept of nothing (true of any negative sentence), therefore the thing being talked about has some standing (exactly what the sentence denies). like saying ‘there’s no monster under the bed’ involves the concept ‘monster’.
HEAD LIKE A HOLE
>>25532903Hm, I'm still not really getting it.Basically, you said that saying "This object has no referent." is not the same as "This object has a referent called nothing." That's a fair distinction, but I think that despite being a precise example of certain logical relationships, it's not an actual contradiction of the same structure that I've been attempting to define. So, let me try again.Even though you can reasonably claim that saying the universe has no external referent is not the same as saying its external referent is nothing as its own distinct concept, the fact remains that both statements would still establish that reality has some logical relationship to nothingness, because its capacity to be defined as being absent of a quality still connects it to that absence in a structural way.Otherwise, it'd be like saying that defining a room as empty does not connect it to the concept of emptiness, and that the more appropriate way to describe the room would be simply as having nothing inside it.
>>25532946 ‘no other building on the island’ isn’t a second adjacent fact standing in relation to the house, it's the house's completeness restated from the outside. can you say, without using the word relationship or a synonym for it, what nothingness actually does.
>>25532966See, I don't think that's necessarily true. It's like saying the concept of an inside can be completely defined without the concept of an outside. So, even though "The TV's inside" and "The TV's not outside" are just two different statements of the same underlying fact, this is not actually reflective of the position I've been trying to argue. And sure, though I will use whatever word or synonym my shitty brain decided to, regardless of how annoying it happens to be.Basically, it's rooted in the fact that nothingness is the only thing that lacks any actual existence. Every concept, regardless of how its constructed, can still be considered real in some way. So, ideas that are strictly imaginary, like ghosts, mermaids, or dragons, are still a part of reality despite having no physical form. Nothingness, on the otherhand, has absolutely no possible way of being truly defined, because it is a complete absence of anything our definitions would be capable of grasping. Even descriptions such as these, do not help our ability to actually comprehend it, because it the most incomprehensible thing possible by its very nature, because there is nothing in reality that we can refer to that has even the slightest quality of being representative of it.Even the most intuitively compelling conceptions, such as trying to imagine a time before you were born, still carries with it a basic concept of a blank, which is just far away from nothingness as the most richly defined structures in reality. So, it's basically the fact that despite being the only thing that truly lacks any existence, it's still something that influences reality, but only within the constraints of reality's ability to function in a way that is logically consistent, which is a process similar to how nothingness is influencing our conversation by manifesting as coherent concepts, without actually participating in reality directly. How it becomes a necessary element in a relationship with reality that is the primary reason reality is capable of existenting at all, I'm not quite sure yet, honestly, because I've only recently started developing this idea and am currently so psychologically exhausted that I'm not currently incapable of bullshitting an elaborate system of reasoning as to how this could possibly be the case.
>>25533008that’s not an answer to what nothingness does. just subbed in ‘influence’ for ‘relationship’ - every version so far (boundary condition, causal relationship, formative element) has been nouns standing in for a verb you can’t supply. that’s not ‘needs development’; it’s no content.inside/outside isn’t the arrangement you’re looking for: those are two positive spatial concepts.
>>25533019I'm not trying to replace relationship with influence, it's just another aspect of it what it does.As for it operating as a type of a boundary condition, you kind of just dropped your critique of the idea even though it was further elaborated on.But whatever, it being a boundary condition, causal relationship, and formative element aren't me cycling through random terms out a lack of one that I'm struggling to define, because they're still basically what nothingness functions as.>it's no content. That seems inaccurate, but whatever. As for the inside/outside comment, that, again, is genuinely not the point.
>>25533042you said it’s an internal condition, which isn’t a boundary condition anymore. ‘functions as’ is now doing the same job ‘relates to’ did, ‘influences’, etc etc. it’s all more faith than thesis. nothingness does nothing.>That seems inaccurate, but whatever.well put.
>>25533061So, an internal condition and boundary condition aren't excluded from another, because it's basically saying that it's something that operates within the system, which in this case would be the idea of nothingness existing throughout reality within logical constraints, while still also being reality primary limitation, because it's the only thing reality is incapable of incorporating into itself and making real, which is why it's a boundary. No, it really isn't it, and is really just another instance of you excising certain elements of my reasoning with precision, but effectively misrepresenting its actual content.>nothingness does nothingThat's neat, and in itself, yeah, that's true, since it's really the only thing that lacks any causal force, but its actual influence exists within reality's relationship to it, basically like how an empty set is the foundational unit of set theory.>well put.Thanks.
>>25533078that’s just reality being self-consistent. & empty set is a well-defined object with a specified role. >lacks any causal forcesit with that. a thing with no causal force can’t be reality’s ‘primary limitation‘. limitation is a kind of force. nothingness can’t do that. a house isn’t limited by the fact that there's no other room - the house just has the number of rooms it has. nothing isn’t limiting it, there’s just no further extent.
>that's just reality being self-consistentI don't really know what this is referring to.>empty set is well-defined object with a specified roleI'm aware, but it's still something that is a representation of a logically primitive absence of content. It's basically like a zero. Functionally, that is a representation of nothing at all, so it's another of nothingness existing within logical constraints, while remaining completely beyond any ability to actually define.Nothingness doesn't require causal force in itself to be reality's primary limitation, because, to make you want to kill me again, its causal force is only generated by reality's relationship to it, similar, again, to the fact that we can establish clear logical connections to something does not exist, and use them to construct a conversation about. We can only comprehend the relationship from how its structured within reality, even though it extends to only thing beyond. That's why I initially said that the causal relationship is incapable of being fully described, because it crosses a threshold where it becomes undefined, which you kind of see in the fact we can construct images of nothing like a zero, even though there is no possible way to truly represent nothing.
>>25533128you need to name what it does without a relational synonym. zero doesn’t help, it has a specific function in a rule-governed structure. nothingness is the name for the apparatus having nothing left to specify. x + 0 = x is a rule of the system, it’s not nothing generating causal force. >its causal force is only generated by reality's relationship to itthat’s circular.
>>25533134>you need to name what it does without a relational synonym. That's probably the hardest part about this, because I cannot actually say anything about what nothingness does in itself, because that's where the relationship becomes undefined. So it's not that nothingness doesn't actually do anything, even though all the casual machinery of the relationship exists within reality, but that it operates as a necessary computational limit that gives reality its ability to function in a logically coherent way, and exist at all.>it has a specific function in a rule-governed structure.I don't see how that contradicts that it's an image of nothing, but yes, the fact that zero has innate properties and logical structure is just another fact that nothingness cannot actually be defined.>it's not nothing generating causal forceAgain, I've said repeatedly that nothingness is not the generative component.>that's circularNo, it isn't, at least not any more than the idea of reality having complete causal self-sufficiency.
>>25533168the relationship explains the force, and the force is what the relationship consists of. that is circular. >I cannot actually say anything about what nothingness does in itself
>>25533182No, it isn't.It's no more circular than logic's ability to be its own reason for coherence. >I cannot actually say anything about what nothingness does in itself.Yes, genuinely profound, you don't know I smug I was when I wrote that down, but still basically true, because it's beyond reality, and therefore any possibility of comprehension.
>>25533229>no more circular thanis a dodge.the cause is itself. it is circular. and goes without saying a conclusion can’t be grounded in the absence of a premise. i’ll give you the final word:>I cannot actually say anything about what nothingness does in itself
>>25533255Fuck, genuinely exhausted and can barely think straight.>the cause is itself. it is circular. So, I technically agree with you in some way on this, but currently lack the ability to clarify why this isn't circular, but something being its own cause's unavoidable circularity is probably the best reason why reality can't be causally self-sufficient. So, if reality does not exist by its own logical necessity, then it would have to be contingent on something external, and since there is no way for something external to reality to be considered, then this contingency would have to be based on something that does not exist. As for your second half, this structure is simply paradoxical, not a contradiction. It is capable of being recognized as true without ever being fully understood.

>>25533384Fuck you, asswipe.
>>25533335What's actually incoherent about the idea that reality's inability to be causally self-sufficient forces its contingency on something non-existent?The only way around this would be to say that there is no reason reality exists, which would be just as absurd as it being contingent on nothing.>it's cleverer to laugh at them than to answer them.I guess. I dunno. I've never felt demeaned when people laugh at me. It's basically like when some ditzy, shallow girl starts laughing hysterically at one of my benign character traits that she thinks is some universally embarrassing defect.I know you probably think that you're more intellectually rigorous than a ditzy, shallow girl, so your laughter is pointing at something more valid, but that type of response isn't actually related to one's intellect, so I see it as equal to every other instance of being laughed at by someone. It actually kind of makes me laugh in return, not really at them, but just at the sheer absurdity of standing there watching someone laugh at you with every intention to humiliate, and completely convinced that laughter would to do so almost inherently, while it's just a reponse to something occuring within their own mind that I feel no significant attachment to.So, I guess you can laugh at that in a cruel, derisive way, it's kind of irrelevant what if you do so or not.
>>25533413>just as absurdno it isn’t. brute contingency is at least coherent: there is no further explanation. if the syllogism persuades someone to accept an untruth, then it’s dangerous, but if they simply move him to laughter, ‘i really do not see why he should pay attention to them’. it’s not about humiliation.
>>25532810Fuck you, you degenerate inbred of the culture from the 20th Century.Geographical knowledge powerfully and precisely served these impulses; the small kingdoms of the thirteenth century—devoid of material resources, money, or those petty, secondary incentives of profit and vanity that drive everything today, yet intoxicated by religious faith and youthful curiosity—managed to produce their own figures like Plano Carpini, Mandeville, and Marco Polo, and to send swarms of intrepid travelers in their wake to the remotest corners of the globe—places neither Greeks nor Romans had ever even thought to visit. That era may well have suffered greatly—I grant that; nor shall I examine whether its vivid imagination and imperfect statistics—viewed through the lens of the disdain we love to feel for anything unlike ourselves—have not significantly exaggerated its miseries. I will accept the scourges attributed to the age at their full extent, whether real or imagined, and ask only this: in the midst of the greatest disasters, is one truly wretched when the spirit burns so brightly? Was it ever seen that the oppressed serf, the dispossessed noble, or the captive king turned their final weapon against themselves in despair? It would seem that the truly pitiable ones are those degenerate, bastardized nations—loving nothing, willing nothing, capable of nothing, and knowing not where to turn amidst the crushing idleness of a declining civilization—that view the bored suicide of Apicius with a bleak indulgence. This is what you look and sound like. Just utterly pathetic. You are literally the quintessence of the last man.
>>25533452Yes, it is. Saying that there is no reason for reality's existence means that the fact reality exists at all is something fundamentally illogical, because you can never justify this contingency as something that can be considered true, since if you were capable of applying logical structure to it, it would cease being brute contingency, and become reality's self-causation.It as entirely empty assertion you cannot reasonably believe by its very design.Oh, that's still a rather cold interpretation of a basic exercise in logic, but I guess I get that.
>>25533481an unexplained fact is not an illogical fact. logic doesn’t require every further justification. if it did you’d be the first to complain about infinite regress. >cold interpretation of a basic exercise in logicthe exercise was never basic & never logic, but right, nothing to do with anyone’s feelings.
>>25533503Sure, but something happening for no reason would be still be illogical, because its beyond logic. Illogical doesn't mean nonsensical or contradictory, but outside logical structure itself.>logic doesn't require every further justification.I don't believe that establishing the reasoning behind brute contingency would be an excessive use of logic.>if it did you'd be the first to complain about infinite regress. Not sure what you mean, but I'm going to force myself to take offense to this.It was fairly basic, but yeah, not necessarily about logic, so I guess I should of said with instead of in, and no, not really about feelings, just an investment in having my ideas analyzed.
It's hell down hereAnd we've got to make a change
>>25533539a fairly big investment at that. i’m not the right anon but in future as a n.b. lucan said the good style of speaking is the kind that strikes home. speech devoted to truth should be straight forward and plain. same on paper as on lip. (soldierly, as sallust described julius caesar’s.)& something happening for no reason is not beyond logic.
>>25533617Meh, some people like how I write, others don't. It's not something I feel compelled to change, since I just go with what's most natural to me. >something happening for no reason is not beyond logic.Yes, it is, because that's the same thing as saying something happened for no reason means the happening was an event that operated outside of, or beyond, reason.
>>25533631 no, it isn’t. an unexplained occurrence is still an ordinary occurrence. an electron has a negative electric charge of ~1.602 x 10^-19C. we use it in every calculation in physics (one of the ‘basic facts’) but there’s no deeper explanation.
>>25534302Hm, that's interesting, but how do you actually confirm something as having no reason for its existence, rather than believing its reason is just currently unknown?
>>25534369it’s just basic input. water-tight certainty is rare in almost any empirical claim. you can always wave a hand and say maybe but in philosophy the responsible position is to treat it as brute for practical and theoretical purposes.
>>25534583I see. That's weird reality will produce things that have no reason to exist, and you can even understand how is this possible, because it's just another brute fact.Another thing I find strange, is the fact something like the electron's charge you showed me, deeply influences the structure of reality, even though its lack a reason for existence itself. So, it's just bizarre that reality is calibrated with such precision that it enables this specific, extremely unlikely configuration that is obviously stable, by its own processes, except without a unifiying principle between them. It's just jank and luck holding it together.
