Which book are you suffering through right now?

Robinson Crusoe although I'm only two chapters away from the end.
People don't tell you that about 2/3 of the book is literal filler. It gets very tiresome and repetitive reading about him milking goats and making bread. Things only pick up at the very beginning (before he ends up on the island) and when Friday shows up.

Literally all of them.

Justine. It's a surprisingly fun picaresque novel until she gets to the monastery where it's just smut and autistic details about the place, which just tired me and slowed my reading to a crawl. Now I'm at the part with the needle play (makes me wanna faint this is worse than scat) but I already know what's gonna happen as everything follows the same pattern, and I expect her to repeat that same pattern 2 or 3 more times before the end of the novel. Feel like the monastery should've been the climax.

I just finished The Pale King today

I'm reading The Great Gatsby and I was shocked to discover there's a gay sex scene in a book they made us read in class.

Infinite Jest
It's funny and has a really interesting style but
Idk if I am schizo enough to read 1K pages of this

London Bridge by Celine. I liked the other books by him I read but everything in this is infinitely long paragraphs of self-loathing.
>>
>>25536048
Calvino's "If on a winters night a traveller"
I think the gimmick is cute but I'm halfway through the book and it's starting to get old
>>
>>25536207
Yup.
>>
>>25536361
I'm halfway through it and starting to get fatigued.

I've been stuck on the same 300 page book for the last 6 months because i'm a hopelessly lazy retard. Just spent 3 hours jacking off instead of reading and writing out this one half-baked idea that's been pestering me on a daily basis for a long time

Trying to read Red Mars, I thought it was going to be a realistic look at terraforming Mars, but he's just whinging about Arabs

The Silence of the Lambs
Thought I'd enjoy it much more than I am

hhhh by laurent binet. he thought he was too smart for a straightforward historical novel so half of it is contrived "history is not le objective" "novels are not reality but they're not fiction" drivel mixed with a rather uninteresting chronology of the events leading up to heydrich's assassination.

Half of this fucking thing is just the guy smashing glasses and spilling whiskey on the ground, it was funny at first but ENOUGH PLEASE

None. I have just finished the Odyssey, and now I'm considering whether to give Parmenidas another shot (stopped reading half way through) and just go for something lighter. I bought a selection of Aristophanes' comedies because I wanted to read Clouds, so maybe I'll just go with that.

You and me both (although you are probably slightly ahead of me). I am probably dropping it soon. Despite a decent metaphor/image/thought every 20-30 pages, there is just nothing remarkable about the book that pushes me to keep reading.
>>
>>25536896
It just keeps going on and on like music that never resolves. I'm gonna try to finish it though. I don't hate it even though sometimes it feels like word salad in paragraph stew.

The Melancholy of Resistance by the insufferable retard László Krasznahorkai. It's unbearably boring and stylistically pointless. Why they would award him the Nobel Prize just two years after Fosse beats me.

Wool. Just started. I don't want to wait for final Silo Season 4. Thankfully an easy read. Maybe too easy.

Zorbas the Greek
Im already tired of Zorbas after 50 pages, hes so one-note and predictable and reddit-esque, i really hope there will come some kind of plot or development to the story soon and not just episode after episode of "wow zorbas is such a savage, wise, beautiful, wacky, eccentric creature"

there's a reason why people only ever mention it in regards to the movie, the theme and the dance specifically, rather than the book

I want to learn latin but I need to read a few books that encourage me that it's worth the time first.
