I liked Satantango and The Melancholy of Resistance, but they felt much like the same book with slightly retooled elements. They share many basic character archetypes (angelic innocent with mental handicap, ambitious and manipulative bullshitter, reclusive educated man), as well as plot threads and thematic content. Of course two books by the same author written in such a short timeframe are going to resemble each other, but these novels do so to the point that if you read one, there's little need to read the other.>>25541873Damnation wasn't a book, but the movies were indeed better.

I've read it. My opinion is that this is one of the books ever written.
