>>25539906thanks
ill post a bunch of Godclads excerpts in the morning. this shit is WILD
>>25540208You said if you don't have a good reason to make a character male or female, default to male because you better understand that perspective.I said that defaulting to the perspective you understand best is bad advice for both a writer and for the story. It makes for bad fiction, having bland characters like that. Outside of the MC, you should strive to write the most colorful, most ALIEN viewpoints you can.So I stand by what I said: your advice wasn't very good.
>>25540313knowing for instance male characters only or best. This results in a boring story either by having no or few female characters, or worse by having those cardboard female characters. female writers do it all the time and make cardboard male characters and never get called on it by female readers. Male writers will get crucified for doing the reverse.
>>25540356What?I couldn't really understand your post.Female writers who write cardboard male characters are usually writing romance stories where the Hot Billionaire Vampire being a default character is the selling point. This is also true for male-focused stories where Manic Pixie Girl is praised by men as "omg peak"It's the same shit, stop being so narrow minded (if this was even your point, I honestly can't tell)
you can probably get away with one good female character, the rest can just be fixtures
>>25540356Lord Of The Rings has nearly no female characters and is the most popular novel of all time.
>>25539906Good morning
>>25540368In my current project the only two female characters are the characters dead mother (only present in memory) and a magical faceless old lady who makes the MC cookies and upgrades his sword.
>>25540372its also really gay
>>25539890Anyone who takes Sanderson's opinions on reality seriously is doing themselves a serious disservice. To make a food analogy--I am an American--Sanderslop is essentially the McDonalds of the written word. People eat McDonalds, McDonalds is popular, but it's an overtly corporate product that relies on being formulaic. A fry cook at McDonalds is only a chef in the loosest possible sense, just as Brandon Sanderson is only an author in the loosest possible sense.Listening to his philosophy on anything is incredibly questionable, because the only thing he can teach to you write is formulaic slop. He can certainly produce cheap slop at scale for wide consumption, but to say he's capable of writing anything genuinely "good" would be a shockingly insane opinion.Listening to that faggot will only turn you into a hack like he is. And by the way, if you genuinely agree with his opinion that writing should be shallow, formulaic, and done solely for money, you may as well just cut out the middleman and use AI to "write" for you. Why not? You're already committed to mass-producing fucking garbage solely for money. If that really is the goal, you'd be better served accepting yourself for what you are and just fully embracing "writing" like some fucking Jeet scam artist.
>>25540313Your lack of reading comprehension is impressive. You don't even understand the post you claim to have written.>I said that defaulting to the perspective you understand best is bad advice for both a writer and for the story. That's not what you said.Maybe some day you'll have a mastery of English sufficient to understand how that and>Trying to always write characters as close to you in personality/behavior as possible is a great way to make fiction boring as hellAre actually very different statements. You couldn't even parse the sentences I wrote. How could you possibly understand my point? You are cat on head retarded, indeed.
>>25540417I read this post and also think you misunderstood what I said. You're retarded. We're at an impasse.
>>25540362nta but>Hot Billionaire VampireEven outside of romance there's this weird quality about male MCs written by women. It's not as obvious as when you're reading a Femc story and they stat talking about their underwear or whatever for no reason but it's still there.>It's the same shit, stop being so narrow mindedHis point is (I think) that it's the same shit but "men writing women" is the one that's the meme. There's way more scrutiny on it. You'll get called out for manic pixie-girl, man with tits and also damsel in distress.
Just added 30 empty chapters to the start of my outline. Time to tack a baby arc onto the front of this thing.
>>25540526Only thirty? You're cutting it close, friend.
>>25540526>not 3 volumes of babyslop followed by 2 pre-teen volumesngmi
I can only stomach writing young teen at most. If I ever had to start a story from literal diapers, I'd lose interest in it before the MC gets his first chest hair.
One of the most common complaints I see on other people's stories is that the adult characters and supposedly adult souls reincarnated in children's bodies don't behave like adults at all. So I think writing adults who behave like adults is a niche I can fill since I'm already an old guy myself and can't understand the children of today
>>25540667See, that's the issue: no one reading WNs is any better than a manchild, so don't expect readers to like reading about adults.
>>25540667Just read (and copy) reverend insanity, the first 100 chapters is an academy arc, mc is a 500 year old person in a body of a 15 yo, it probably has the best portrayal of a reincarnated person in any webnovel.
>>25540667"adult" in this context means "seems competent in ways that would, in most cases, prevent an interesting story being told involving children".
>>25541225>interesting story>involving childrenImpossible equation
It's funny, as a very non-discerning reader, to read something that's popular and genuinely bad.End up getting actually mad at the thing. Like I thought I had 100+ chapters to read in a subgenre I like but you've written so badly even I'm put off by it.

And by problem i mean at least half of the active fics are about herI don't want to think poorly of people but, is she popular because she's a fedora tipping atheist transexual with a joker smile?
>>25541810spacebattles is full of redditors and fags.
>>25541810They like mil-sci. That's pretty much it, that's the reason. Also Youjo Senki has retained significant popularity despite the huge gap between seasons so it's no surprise. Also, sometimes, a franchise just gets a ton of fanfictions for no apparent reason, even if its popularity outside of that space is not that big.
>>25541820>Also, sometimes, a franchise just gets a ton of fanfictions for no apparent reason, even if its popularity outside of that space is not that big.True, there are dedicated sites for Star Trek fanfic sites. It's where "Mary Sue" first came from.
>>25541820Part of my sarcastic fit was a genuine question, right now i feel very disconected to what people like and dislikeOne day i woke up to find i don't care about most of my interests and i have little patience for shitMakes it hard to get back into writing
>>25541863I've been around for a while and at this point I've given up on trying to comprehend what people like or don't like. I don't know why it's popular, but it's a pleasant surprise that something that isn't straight raw untreated sewage is popular.
Check the rise of self-insertionism in reader tastes and the swelling numbers of ESLs reading. The readerbase has simply changed. The solution is to stop worrying about total popularity so much and focus on native English speakers for your sense of validation.
>>25541894It's not new. I was there over a decade ago. The retarded masses have always been big for self-inserts.
>>25541917This is going to sound gay but I mean over a longer span than a decade. It's like a fifty year trend, shit it's 2026, 75 year trend. You're completely right that this trend existed a decade ago and was significant. Harry Potter and Twilight are good examples. The entire genre of romantasy is based on self-insertion (to shlick to) (ironic).

>>25542202I came across that 90s-UPN looking youtube ad for My Vampire System and just HAD to find it. But as I looked into it, it looked like the platform (name forgotten) had an algorithmically scaling window of free chapters you could read that squeezed down the more interest you showed. And some side-scheme to accumulate tokens or coins or whatever they called them. I think it was run by Indians. I finally came across the pirated audio and it seemed like that business model had contaminated the work even worse than the straightforward milking RR incentivizes.
>>25542219royal road doesn't train shit, they aren't building ai modelsand even if they didn't allow it outright the big ai companies scrape the entire internet, that's how the existing models were madewhy are you phrasing this as a wake up callabsolute pea brain
>>25542222To add to your point, they also trained their AI on everything available on libgen.
>>25542220(you)
>>25542202I know that scraping is inevitable. My problem is with vibecoding. It's even lower than an AI slop story, because it's the very foundation everything else rests on. And if the website owners are going to half ass even that, why should anyone believe they'll fix any problems with it, or if even be able to? Why do these morons think anyone will invest into their ecosystem that they show they aren't willing to put the work into cultivating? That's what gets my goat.
>>25541711>382 pages
>>25542267Yeah it started two months ago. That's a perfectly respectable number of pages.
>>25542057I may be wrong but doesnt J-novel want exclusivity for all contest entries? That alone makes it not worth it. You should post your web novel on as many websites as you can.And posting your shit online only forfeits FNASR, and let's be honest, the feminists and trannies have zero interest in your, mine, or anyone else's webnovel. They're too busy surrounding themselves with native american authors and chicks with dicks in a never ending contest of seeing who can claim the championship title to the world's biggest victim.
>>25542365the way it worked previous was that they only want exclusivity if you win, in which case you would have to remove it from other sites, the same way you would if you went to amazon or some other paid site. En tering the contest shouldn't mean agreeing to exclusivity.
>>25542365I looked it up. Looks like exclusivity only takes place if you become a finalist or win a prize with them. And hey, 'Finalist of X contest' is always good resume fodder.

The characters in this novel are deranged and psychopathic like those in average xianxia novels, but their internal thoughts are still full of those of Western moralfaggotry. They’re all about being good and wanting to become better people. They’re too self-aware, or good and bad is too concretely defined, and god, I hate the banter so much. I haven’t found good dark fantasy since Prince of Nothing.

Specifically, mages can use tech to fly relatively short ranges, hit hard, and function as close air support. Kinda like attack helicopters, but more nimble. The eastern front situation is most like WW2, I'd say, where you have communists one one side, a massive front, lend-lease support from USA to USSR (analogues), and so on.The WW1 side of things has trench warfare against the France analogue until plot happens and Tanya's side sweeps them away.>>25544007TenSura is kingdom building and Japanese culture supremacism. It might as well be "what if the East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere worked because the stupid gaijin were smart enough to understand how great us Japanese are?"Sadly I'm almost ten volumes behind on Index. I had a busy few years and GT is just very dense. Almost to the point I wouldn't classify it as LN anymore (compare it to the sloppy balloons on J-novel club these days).

>>25544114Nta, but you know what he's talking about. Call them Marvelisms, Whedonisms, or whatever else, but I guarantee you've seen it before. Writing where they'll undercut serious scenes for lame jokes, characters acting 'adorkable', a general lack of sincerity, anachronisms everywhere because the writer is a soulless golem that can't think outside of their own experiences This part is why I think they gravitate toward isekai by the way, and so on.

>>25544117Honestly the author is wack enough that I'm not worried about it being creepy. Even if he did have a fourteen year old hitting on him. It's probably just a narrative excuse to loredump and have Freddy flex on people while his soul finishes healing, and then he'll ascend and jump right into realm clearing on the vanguard. Also I think the violin thing is more evidence for my pet theory: That 1% lifesteal steals more than health and healing, it's stealing a person's talent, too. Not like their magical power talent but like their potential as a person. That's why some scrawny poor double orphan can turn into a crazy murder machine the way he has."Hundred-part harm ye bring unto thine enemy, one part ye shall recover."It's very deliberately broad and vaguely written. The best kind of power description, where you can twist it into whatever you want down the road.
>>25544151Rimuru starts straight but becomes asexual and immune to most feminine charms pretty early on in the story. The author still has the big titty female characters press the slime into their boobs, but he no longer gets excited or aroused from it.The story is entirely character drama and kingdom building by the point of where the anime is adapting right now.

>>25544378It's because it's Mr. Blaise. Other authors I wouldn't trust to write certain plot arcs well. At the same time I'm extremely lenient on whatever happens in fiction. It's just fiction. It's made up. If an author wants to write age gap relationships or worse, I don't mind as long as it's entertaining. So I'm not looking at it like "oh no he's like 125 years old and he's going to start dating a 12 year old." It's clearly going to have some gang of idiot young adults try to pick on him, he humorously cleans them up, girls (and or maybe boys) hit on him and he spills his spaghetti, professors are snide to him and he just proves them wrong on the spot, he listens to a few lectures and then there'll be a timeskip to graduation in like two months because he learns things fast, like he did with the violin. The last time I dropped something that made me uncomfortable it was Miss Medic’s Diary at War on JNC, because the main character was getting physically abused by a superior officer in the military and then started to stockholm syndrome herself into respecting him for no reason. I felt it was stupid and repugnant and dropped it. But it's not a big deal, just not to my taste.

I'm thinking of writing a story where the protagonist can temporarily infuse items with concepts, like putting "fire" inside a sword to get a flaming sword (obviously I'd waffle about what that means and the effects it grants more in-story). I'm just wondering: would selling this as a crafting story be false advertising?
What would Spectral Soul do in this situation?

>>25544606nahthat's basically what crafterfags wanna see anyway
>>25544606Why can't you make it in the non-bullshit way like looting and crafting fire-based materials into a sword to make a flaming sword, and studying crafting to see how that might work practically, instead of just pulling whatever godlike magic the plot needs out of the MC's ass?
>>25544606Nah it's a kind of crafting, it's fine. Enchanting, or Infusing, or embodying... I'm sure there's a good word for it. Ensorcelling, maybe. Now if you're doing a crafting story it should be key to the plot and themes of the story. Star Wars but Luke happens to be really into light saber modifications on the side isn't a crafting story.
What are some good crafting storiesThe few I've encountered were kind of dogshit
Speaking of crafting stories, are there any set in a cyberpunk or a sci-fi setting?
>>25544636Because if I'm doing temporary imbuings, I get to deliver much more frequent "crafting" hits than doing it traditionally.
>>25544664It's basically just a cumbersome wizard then
>>25544666That's intentional.
>>25544672Danmachi did a better version of your idea. Welf can create powerful magic swords, but because he's not a master, his weapons break after a set number of uses. An interesting ability that still requires a lot of crafting as well as the necessary materials, and doesn't leave half as much room for frodos
>>25544655Bad Born Blood
>>25544458should take your own advice
>Taking out a phone, he called up school security. “Fake badges, entry corridor.”oh shit, this fool dun goofed
>>25541810There's a handful of very popular stories so the ones chasing cash fasten to the easiest thing. 90 percent of them are blatantly AI. Plus YS is one of those rare animes that seems to maintain popularity over long periods.
I am reading The Wizard's Journey Begins with a Knight on wtr lab. The translation is somewhat rough at the beginning but improves in later chapters. It's mostly progression novel, mc just getting stronger and levelling up with varied magic system with some system, some western magic and some cultivation elements, for those interested in magic systems it's great read, story is mostly ok, worldbuilding is alright, sadly there is a very occasional harem but it can be skipped entirely as it has no relation to the main story.
Someone run Bodyguard to the Future Demon Queen for me in the AI checker for me, I forget what the tool was.
What are peoples thoughts on Radiant Blade Of The Wilderness byt the guy that wrote Lord of the Mysteries?I'm on about chapter 50 and so far it's all politics that to be completely honest are a bit lost on me with the translation. Magic system seems like it could be interesting (the long list of nonsense realm/stage names aside) but he hasnt done anything with it yet.People that have read more what are your thoughts?
>>25544989There's a very big twist at the end of the arc. It's interesting. Much less action focused than most of those types of stories, more like a murder mystery. I'm only like 40 chapters ahead of you though.
>>25544989Throne of Magical Arcana, Embers Ad Infinitum and Lord of the Mysteries were so fucking peak, but then Circle of Inevitability was so fucking boring. He fell off.
>>25544948She's named Elara, dog. That's AI as fuck.
>>25545072to play devil's advocate, some people just use ai to come up with names without realizing it always spits out the same onesit's not a smoking gun, just a red flag
>>25544732If there aren't any web novels then I may have found my niche.
>>25545112in any case, we have a general lack of cyberpunk and SF, so go for it
>>25544802>chasing cash>talking about fanfiction?
Pulling around 1,3k to 1,8k words daily(normaly 1,5k) and aleardy in 11 chapters.34k words for nowWe keep going on strong!!!!!!!!
I only like sect and academy based stories, but there's no reason guild and other workplace based settings can't be written the same way. Essentially, these settings are an excuse to throw important characters together in a confined space where they can interact, learn different things, meet new characters, and take part in various events. But every workplace based WN I've read just rushes through orientation and training to get to the first job in some dingy alley or dirty swamp somewhere. Then by the second arc, the office is reduced to a clubroom the MC drops by occasionally to chat with maybe one other named character.
>>25544801I called it!But also fuck you for vagueposting when you could have just said you're talking about 1% lifesteal.
>The elevator rang. Chambers felt his shit nearly eject through his asscheeks. "Fuck!"After an extensive break and coming back to Godclads book 2, Chambers has become my favorite character even though I detested him at first. Pure fucking comedy gold especially triggering playbacks of literal saved torture porn in his mind as a defensive mechanism in uncontrollable situations.
Do you niggas watch anime or read manga, or is Western stuff all you guys consume?
>>25545518I watch anime and read manga but don't read eastern web novels, only western
>>25545518I stopped watching japanese anime and started watching chinese anime (aka donghua), only the most popular shows though.

>>25545606Depends on the authorSome are even monthly
>>25544948Already did, pangram says 100% AI. Look at the profile of the cunt who posted it, imagine being that smug when you don't even write your own shit. I encourage everyone to give it 0.5 stars.>>25545518The only anime I've ever liked was LOTGH and I guess Ghost in the Shell. I sort of liked berserk when I was 20 but I mostly hate it now. >>25545672There's plenty of them but as far as I can tell that specific Star Wars crossover fic isn't AIgen, and I have a pretty good sense for these things. It reads like authentic autist writing, it even has the author seething at the moderators of sites for making him censor shit.

Would a Cyberpunk/LitRPG/Urban Fantasy with Christian undertones do well? Or is the winnie fanbase too secular for that?
>>25545979Kek why do I keep seeing my ideas get used elsewhere. I want to extend the tarot theme from 2077 in one of my stories but more orthodox Christian flavored and combine it with some psychic powers.I don't think it would do too great to be honest, if it's as direct as it sounds to me. They seem mostly Asian and west-secular with a faint undercurrent of christians and rightoids. It could work, maybe, but if you're already uncertain about it maybe not. But who cares, writing these things is relatively low effort. Just go write it and see how it does.
>>25545979Depends on how overt I guess
>MC was trekking through a forest. He heard an unusual sound ahead and went on high alert. He carefully approached the sound on the other side of the trees ahead.>MC peeked out from behind the tree and saw...This always amuses me because the are very few trees that have a wide enough trunk to hide behind. Most trees are narrower than you and there's usually a ton of foliage around. You'd really be hiding in a bush next to the tree rather than behind a tree.I know this is nitpicky, but I still find it amusing. You can hide behind the trunk of an oak, maple, yew or like a redwood. If it's a pine forest then you can only do that if it's a really old forest. If it's a willow tree then you'll basically be hiding inside the tree rather than behind it. If it's a fir then you'll only be hiding around it (unless it has grown into a weird shape).
>>25546027Where I live there are pretty wide trees, I think. The oaks on my property are enormous but that's partially because they're freestanding. I'll have to pay attention to this next time I go hiking but I'm pretty sure the national forest trees are big enough to hide behind as well, even some fuckhuge loblolly pines. It just depends.
>>25546033You do have a point. I oversold it at the start. Most of the forests I've been in like something like pic related though.
>>25546027I can look out my window and see literally hundreds of trees that I could easily hide behind. unless the guy has gone out of his way to specify that there are only trees around that he COULDN'T hide behind, I think it's extremely stupid to object that, since you couldn't do that behind "most" trees, that the character wouldn't be able to hide behind the tree he's described as peeking out from behind. since he wouldn't have chosen his tree at random
>>25545518I mostly only consume anime and manga. Been watching seasonals since 2009 and still watch them as well as pre-2010 anime. I don't consume western media anymore; maybe the odd movie or two. Just watched TADC, Hathaway part 2, and Backrooms recently. Western stuff I mostly read old tradpub for western stuff. Only read western RR novels, but technically did actively read Tanya the evil LN (started as a WN) for a few years
Or pic related>>25546051Those aren't really in a forest though. Trees growing in the open grow wider trunks and branches.
>>25546027Going to nitpick your nitpicks.Every part of the world has trees wide enough to hide behind. You named a few and there's also the Firs and Spruces in the Black Forest in Europe and in India and SEA they have places full of Banyans and Teaks.>if it's a really old forestso what's the issue? If it's a modern setting it could just be old trees and in a fantasy story it could be entire parts of the world covered in old trees like the wilderness regions of Forgotten Realms
>>25546027
>>25546090See all that space between this tree and the next one? Forest implies that space wouldn't be there. This looks more like a meadow or park.
Unironically, the best solution to ai on RS rn would be a writing cabal
>>25546198Nah but there probably does need to be a message from the admins telling people to just review the prose as garbage rather than spouting baseless AI accusations. Also if an author says they're not using AI and later change their tune their account should be banned.Hopefully fingerprinting LLM text gets more common and there can be an actually good detector.
>>25546198>>25546214Since AI copies from human samples, it's just going to get more humanlike from here. People need to stop calling everything AI. They can only give reasons why it's bad.
>>25546027I feel like this is mostly an American suburban perspective. If you've ever been to true old growth forests or even groves planted 150 years ago, the trees are quite large.
>>25546198>Join writing cabal>Cabal has ai users in it>They slip up and get exposed>You're guilty by association now what
>>25546290The cabal wouldn't let that happen. All traitors must be violently made an example of, otherwise the cabal loses all credibility
>>25546290>Have people send the editing history of their docs if they wanna get in.>Oh, you use an editing software that doesn't keep track of that? sorry, no cabal for you. You could still fake an editing history to be fair, but this still filters most people and fake edit logs are much easier to spot.
>>25546308>>25546318Okay but whose going to do that. You need someone with the time to be a writer, participate in the cabal discussion/peer reviewing and also run the cabals opsec.
>>25546323The Order bans obvious AI users and the authors in there dunk on and insult them tooand The Order is probably the only real cabal left, with all the drama and full server wipes the other big ones have seen recently
>>25546318>astra make up some edit logs for me too>okay now add some random typos>great thanks astra>>25546308If there's any value in being in the cabal, cheaters will cheat to try to get in and get away with it.Either we do LLM output fingerprinting (likely just so the LLM companies don't get model collapse from training on their own output) or we just all agree that AI accusations are meaningless and quality and originality are what matters, and that there's no social clout for "being an author." Really the LLM-output spammers are doing what they do for clout, not because they like books or have anything to say. Eventually they will devalue the entire enterprise and then move on to the next thing.
>>25546343>Really the LLM-output spammers are doing what they do for clout, not because they like books or have anything to say. Eventually they will devalue the entire enterprise and then move on to the next thing. They're not doing it for clout, they're doing it for attention (NOT the same thing as clout) or money.
>>25546338Someone should write a litrpg about this
>>25546343>astra fully generate a chapter full of typos>okay now edit this 200-300 times so that I have a realistic edit page. also do this for the 30 other chapters I haveNo cabal that fails to catch this deserves to cabal
Just write really long running stories and keep notes and be consistent. You will then rise above the ai slop by virtue of just having more gas in tank.Of course anons can't do that because nobody on /lit/ can actually write anything longer than a novella for some reason.
>>25546396>You will then rise above the ai slop by virtue of just having more gas in tank.not really, ai slop is dominating rising stars and badly written human slop isn't

>>25546412>ai slop is dominating rising starsat first and then they fall off hard after the continuity problems start showing up and don't go away.
>>25546424Step one (Impossible tier): Write a good storyStep two: insert cliffhangers
>>25546424catering to the masses (windowlickers) is obviously the best way to get readers, so you're at a huge disadvantagebeing an exceptional truly 0.1% writer is the other way to get readers, and you'll pick up far fewer paypiggies even still. my honest advice:1. get over yourself if you want to be a commercial writer2. stop trying to be a commercial writer when you aren't willing to write for the massesit's honestly pretty fucking obvious and makes me think you're a windowlicker yourself(or you're just venting, in which case stop whiny blogposting pls)

>>25546789Understanding how to get on Rising Star on Royalroad is the most important thing. Check out the guide for it in the OP. The Cat Girl Evolution author also made a decent guide for it on reddit if you wanna look for that.
>>25546836The one time I did and got told that, I got a 5 star. That was a very nice anon.

>>25547110Like 90% of ScribbleHub's most popular disagrees with you
>>25547119I regret to inform you space opera is a fundamentally cursed genre. It's the most prone to scope creep. The only time you're gonna get a decent space opera is if you write something else entirely then build a space opera setting around it afterwards.
>>25547110Idk, lots of smut on AO3 and ScribbleHub. I'm writing it anyway, so might as well chuck it out there.

I should use AI to write a story just to see how easy (or hard) it really is. Has anyone here done that?
>>25547386Yes, but it really is not worth it if you know how to write, you spend as much time fixing what it puts out and regenerating/guiding it as you would have if you just wrote the thing yourself. Except it's worse and still has a vague odor of AIOf course, the thing is: most people CANT write and so AI is the better option. It's the same deal as with AI image gen. Most people can't draw and so if you want to create art, using AI is better than doing it yourself because otherwise you'd have stick figures or toddler drawings. But if you CAN draw, you get better, more unique output and you actually get what you want instead of what the model spits out.
>>25547386It just generates schizo ramblings rather than a coherent story. The best use-case of AI if you really want to go down that path is probably to review what your wrote, fix typos, suggest improvements, and to bounce ideas off - you know, what a real person would do.
>>25547386Don't listen to these responses, AI is progressing by the month and (if they've even tested AI at all) their experiences are probably a year out of date or more.AI books are dominating Rising Stars and topping the LitRPG Amazon shelves, making 100k+ per book. AI Romance books are making millions despite Pangram detecting them, there's been mainstream drama about it.The tech is already there, demonstrably.
>>25547465It's funny, I saw this exact cope post half a year ago, a year ago, two years ago.
>>25547469What cope? I hate that this is the state of art but what I said is factual. Have you looked at RS or the Amazon LitRPG shelf?
>>25547465Sounds like paranoia to me. I've never seen a single case of definitive proof any used AI. All the detection tools are garbage.
>>25547477There is no such thing as definitive proof, but AI writing is pretty obvious. You're just sticking your head in the sand.
>>25547475They were generic slop long before AI. What you mistake for AI is just the usual trash writing for the genre.
>>25547479> proof?> trust me brokek
>>25547480No, trash writing used to be trash. Now it's perfectly clean, professional prose with the stench of AI. It's obvious. You guys just haven't been around long enough to remember what slop used to read like. Shit was not written with perfect grammar and varied word choice.>>25547483As I said, sticking your head in the sand.
>>25547490> written with perfect grammar and varied word choiceoh no, it's the AI apocalypse!!
>>25547494Yes, exactly. Again, that isn't how slop was produced before. And they all have the same punchy voice with AI-isms.
>https://www.amazon.com/Starter-Zone-Survivor-Survival-Progression-ebook/dp/B0H5NQP7VZ/This is the highest entry on the litrpg shelf that isn't a long standing/famous book like DCC, Primal Hunter, etc. So the newest, current "big success".Go read the sample. Even ignoring that Pangram flags the opening as 100% AI, read it yourself: it is obvious. You all are just stuck in 2024/2025 and haven't realized how bad it's gotten.
>>25543363>as good Well, YOU will never write anything good because you're too invested in dogshit sloppa for coomer retards. Mushoku Tensei is the male equivalent of those books about minotaur milking. It's just a vacuous wish-fulfillment series for people who have no taste or desire for anything better.>and as popular as Mushoku TenseiIt's popular for two reasons. First, because it's base. It appeals to the lowest common denominator. Think of things a 14-year-old boy or a manchild desires. It goes through all those urges like a checklist. Little kids and manchildren love dogshit wish-fulfillment series.Second, and this is the part that's hard to replicate, is that it's anointed. There are plenty of series as base as MT and with similar "quality" levels. But normies are conformists. They'd rather disown their own family members than stray from consensus even 1%. So, they like it because it's popular. Popularity itself is the final arbiter of quality to a normie. And it's like using money to make money; popularity reproduces popularity because the average midwit will not disagree with consensus no matter what. So, actual advice? Write wish-fulfillment, and when you advertise it, make sure you keep flattering existing series and readers, okay, make sure you maintain a fawning, obsequious, reddit circlejerk kind of tone, and basically just be a weasel with no self-respect until someone with institutional influence gives you a shout-out. At low levels, this could be as simple as a lesser YouTuber, or a mod on a subreddit willing to give you your cronyism rewards after you've sucked enough balls. Either way, your goal is to just get on the treadmill, because as soon as normies see other people praising you, that's really all they care about. Then your worthless dogshit series for empty faggots might eventually bloom just like Mushoku Tensei did.You just need to have no self-respect long enough and hard enough.
>>25547528>5 book series>all 5 books posted within 1 month of each other>book 1 has 1600 ratings, book 5 has 12 (TWELVE) ratingsthat's insanei mean it's still like 40-60k of profit straight to the author from book 1 but my god, i have never seen sub 1% retention across a series before, that is comical
>>25547542realistically, the first book is probably heavily astroturfed and the actual profit is likely much lowerstill, it's probably good money, 10k is a lot for a jeet or SEAmonkey
>>25547550Amazon has pretty strong bot detection, I don't think it was astroturfedyou're overestimating the slophoggies and their utter disregard for quality. right tropes in title/summary? they're gonna read it and give free money to the author. it's how the ecosystem worksthat said, they did figure it out eventually based on the retention, lmao
>>25547386I use it to test out ideas by making it write a few sample chapters. But though it can give serviceable material, I just always lose interest in continuing when there's no personal thought or effort involved
>>25547528God it doesn't even make to 3 words before reading as AI. 10 if you somehow think the name was just coincidentally AI-sounding.
i wonder if AI would consider godclads an AI-produced title, with its esoteric lexicon and overall abnormal vernacular.
>>25547628Nope. Pangram works off of word choice and writing structure so anything oddball is probably going to be even similar to AI prose.
>>25547628Pangram is extremely reliable, so probably not. People have heard 'ai detection tools are shit' which USED to be true, and are true for all the spam ones you find on the internet, but Pangram is not the same as those. >>25547306>What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?>The author must be from the trash 'alphabet community' to think these people actually exist.....sigh God must have forgotten us.>Well... I just found this trash when searching for harem novels so I'll drop a one-star review, no personal beef with the author... 'cause to begin with, I despise all their kind.>Every novel this author writes is a weird fetish novel, the issue with that is not the fact that it’s a weird fetish book (people can choose to read it or not) it’s the fact that author hides the tags of his novels to trick people into reading it because he knows they wouldn’t if they knew the tags. He did it on his last two novels and he did it here too. Stop tricking people into reading your weirdo agenda you polarizing cretin.>Dude turns into a girl character. I have never done this in a game, and I don't plan to read it either. Be warned about the synopsis being misleading.>I wish a normal Human Author wrote this and not an Gay or whatever Dog>I DON’T CARE HOW MANY TIMES YOU WILL RECOMMEND ME THIS I AM *NOT* READING FUTA Tough crowd.
>>25547306>(Futa protagonist)picked up
I love spilling spaghetti about my lore at the slightest comment from one of my readers. It's my favorite thing to do. They eat what I dish out and thank me for the clarification it's great
>>25546987-Maybe Tapas could become something more than Webtoon but worse.-Original owners regaining control is [usually] a good thing, so nice.-That sucks, but on the upside, at least it wasn't a public company that's guaranteed to poz it. Could be alright.
I'm at ch. 52. I may as well finish Sky Pride book 6 before getting back to Godclads. This entire book is a fucking sidequest.
>spent all morning working on an outline for an extremely complex chapter>totally drained at the end and unhappy with it>too unwieldy, too clunky, too repetitive>can't even do anything else and take my mind off it>feel guilty didn't get a chapter written today>start not even liking the previous chapter (nothing happens in it)>frustrated>do a shitton of cardio while thinking about it>decide it's a good time to change POVs at least for the one chapter>still need to fix the previous chapter thoughI think I'm hitting my limit. I should really take a few days off to relax and recharge but I'm on a good streak with the writing. I don't want to stop and then lose my train of thought before I get this mini-arc wrapped up.Writing good is so much harder than just writing garbage.
>>25548052I think you're confused. /wg/ is down the hall
>>25548053Maybe I just need more sleep.
>>25547827I wasted an hour reading this shit because of you.Twenty chapters in, not a sign of futa, and the first potential yandere just showed up.Only read this if you like to play Mass Effect as femshep on ultra easy.
>>25548045apparently this is book 7christ
>>25548085Thank you for your service
>>25547911Wait, Tapas is dead dead. Oh. Well, it barely has an effect on the wn scene since they skewed much more toward comics instead. I have a bad feeling all those LGBT story writers are going to try to muscle into RR and try to turn it into another queer romantasy hub (Because god knows they don't have enough of those).
>>25548187>another queer romantasy hub (Because god knows they don't have enough of those)if there are a ton of those they'll go there instead of muscle into an irrelevant site...?personally I haven't heard of any queer web novel romantasy sites, unless you count scribblehub which I wouldn't
