A demon, or LLM, or whatever else it might be, will never be a human. All it can do is imitate--but in especially lonely people, this imitation might be the closest thing to human contact one could get, which can lead to the nasty consequence you've described. Obviously the reasons people talk to AI and the reasons people talk to demons often differ, but the parallels are certainly interesting. If you want more reference style books the Infernal Dictionary and the Psuedomonarchia Daemonum (False hierarchy of demons) are pretty standard recommendation. A legit full English translation of the Infernal Dictionary didn't even exist until 2014 with only partial translations available before. It's an odd duck of a book as the author just thought researching old "dark" bullshit was fascinating and he created the book as a straight up reference time to all the spooky shit he could find over the years. Then he went full Catholic and, amazingly, his 1863 edition with depictions of demons actually got full approval for public release and ownership by the Catholic church for being a good reference book that just presented the material in a matter of fact manner.
