Pathetic seething. The AI genie has left the bottle; there's no putting it back in. And a very hostile and retrograde power, i.e. China, is devoting every possible resource to improving their variant. This is an arms race, an existential battle. Also, AI has gotten to the point where it's surpassing human ability. Consider the recent solution to ten of the Erdös conjectures, many of which stumped humans for decades, if not centuries, for only $2000 worth of OpenAI Astra tokens. Or the discovery of singularities in the Navier-Stokes equations, improving our understanding of turbulence. Or the recent fully autonomous flight of an airplane across the country, stopping at airports along the way. You should be embarrassed by your retrograde views on AI. You have no idea what you're talking about.
