I wanted to try writing at minimum a 100 page story, maybe longer. My first effort, so obviously it'll be cringe and in need of much improvement when I read it back or show it to others, but I realize I have zero ideas for what's actually going to happen. If you had this problem, how did you get over it?

The magic is in 4th to 8th reboots or sequels.Find a highly rated work.Find a poorly rated reboot or sequel.Distill the plot.Fix it.Put it into your story.Often you need only minor adjustments because late sequels & reboots are often commissioned from writers that are promising but new and dirt cheap for a reason.If you're unsure what to choose make a list of movies or shows you like and read their comics/novels. It's usually gutter trash made to order but always has a few very interesting concepts that are interesting enough to copy.Pic unrelated.

I usually just extrapolate, fantasize about my life experience and switch a thing or two and imagine how it would've changed if X had happened or I was doing Y instead of Z at the moment... then start switching variables until it's kinda unrecognizable.

>>25550415Plot is what happens when the main character observes the protagonist's interests collide with the antagonist's. You don't create plot first, you create all the building blocks for the plot first and then you see what happens when all of those blocks interact with one another.
