Let's say a powerful earthquake hits Mordor and collapses The Eye of Sauron. Would he become blind until they rebuild it? Would ringwearers become undetectable?
>>25553742>Would he become blind until they rebuild it?With what funding? What was the tax policy up to that point?Considering the tower also functions as a grain silo for the population of Mordor: What do they eat in the meantime?
That's not how the world of Lord Of The Rings works. Sauron is more likely to cause an earthquake himself than to be hit by one.
>>25553776What if The Fellowship strapped explosives on a muslim (so no "they're too proud" bullshit) eagle and got it to crash into the tower? Better?
>>25553769Moldy bread of course.
>>25553742It's not a real eye. Read the fucking book. You asshole.
>>25553870He still uses it for finding the ring though?
>>25553795They might as well crash another eagle in the other tower, while they're at it.
It was build earthquake proof.
>>25553870It kinda is.But instead of the spirit of Sauron possessing mordor due noe ring meaning no body, the movie added a brilliant ploy to showcase it. By giving Sauron a structure to posses, to give the gaze a symbol or a effigy.
>>25553769I think one of the books it's stated that most orcs lived around the Sea of Nurnen and worked as farmers, fertilizing their fields with the soot from Mount Doom
>>25555036the movies fucking suck
>>25553870We're reaching a point where more people have seen the movies than actually reading the original book on /lit/.It's depressing that the movies are what the public conscious than the details of the book: and it's been this way for years now.

the eye is just a tool. sauron himself is a dude in the tower
>>25553795The muslim would be corrupted by sauron's gay aura and become an orconly hobbits are partially immune
>>25555036I never got the impression that even in the movie it was his real body. Just that it was a giant beacon representing his power.
>>25557406>t. Rings of Power fan
>>25553742Why would Aulë harm his own servant?
>>25553769>What do they eat in the meantime?Depends whats on the menu
>>25553742The fact Sauron never appears in person is part of what makes LotR so unbearably dull. Sidenote, don't respect anyones opinion on LotR if they read it first as children.
>>25553742This always frustrated me because its a misunderstanding of grade 8 level literary devices. The eye is not a literal eye. It's a window in the tower with a fallen angel sitting there and glowing and the main character thinks its a giant eye.Peter Jackson had no media literacy and misunderstood. Imagine someone adapted fahrenheit 451 and made the books animate because the author personifies them.
>>25564490It's a fine adaptation to a visual medium, conveying the same concept and aesthetic - Sauron as a disembodied spirit haunting the stones of Barad Dur and jealously seeking the One Ring - through different means.
The eye is not for seeing, it's one of those Tenga egg things in a mount. The light that comes out of it when it's looking around is ropes, uhhh, if it falls downIf it falls down Sauron will order another one of Amazon using his points from the Amazon credit card. So that he doesn't have to lay down on the ground to use it. I'll get back to you with my insights about what that crystal ball thing is that the other more grumpier wizard has I've gotta rest up after this post because I tried so hard.
