How many Mody Dick fans here actual have some sailing and nautical experience and licenses?I'm a junior skipper who just finished a yacht delivery (I wasn't skippering it, was just there as a third mate).It really is refreshing for the sovl.
How do you get into sailing? Seems like an expensive hobby.

Depending on where you are, you get your theory and practical license then apply for delivery missions which are recreational, you just contribute to the marina, diesel and fuel feels and it's split among the group.You can look at your area for a competent crew - RYA starter as well. Aeronautics is way more expensive, at least here.

I’ve been fishing since as long as I can remember but the only ocean experience I have is on fishing boats, which is hardly comparable to a whaling voyage. I’m more of a woods guy. My parents have property in the Allegheny mountains and Ive been hunting as long as I can remember as well. Hunting and camping is my real passion when it comes to the outdoors. The ocean is great and all but it doesn’t call to me the way it does to others. I do love Moby Dick though, that book is a masterpiece and probably the greatest great American novel.
