I'm currently reading Marx but it's mostly a bunch of dry political and economic criticism of 19th century victorian capitalism. There doesn't seem to be much philosophical substance to it. Does anon have reading recs, preferably from direct sources, on marxist philosophy ? Does it even exist as a tradition or is it meaningless babble ?

I thought that I was in the r/EruditeCucks subreddit here ?

If the original guy who invented a school of philosophy can't write logically coherent work that stands the test of time, then that entire school of philosophy is not worth studying.
>>
>>25554973
German Ideology chapter one
also there's no such thing as "marxist philosophy". Marxism is a critique of estranged modes of thinking like religion, philosophy and ideology in general.
>>
>>25555030
this, marxism is sophistry, utter garbage, it's both pseudo-science and pseudo-philosophy. it's more like a religion or cult. don't waste your time, OP
>>
>>25555030
This.
If you want to learn more about his dialectic start with German Ideology, then Fuerbach, Engels's Socialism Scientific and Utopian last part talks about it.
If you want to read Engles the first chapter of Anti Duhring is all philosophy.
>>
>>25555060
I wouldn't go so far to call it sophistry. Marx does hate philosophy because its people sitting on their asses not doing anything.
He sums up his thought with the last line Fuerback
>Philosphers hitherto only thought about the world the point however is to change it.
>>
>>25554973
>I'm currently reading Marx
What are you reading?
Starting with capital can be a little overwhelming.
Maybe pick something easier (and a little shorter) for a start
Then work your way up from there.
I'd suggest:
The German Ideology
Wage Labour and Capital
Value, Price and Profit
Grundrisse
Critique of the Gotha Programme
Theses on Feuerbach

optional: Contribution to the Critique of Hegel's Philosophy of Right (not easy but since you're on /lit/ you might be into this)

Anti-Dühring is also pretty solid.
Engels deserves more love.
>>
>>25555088
Fucking Orthodox Marxist Sophists hate him for his dialectics of nature.
>>
>>25555019
I disagree. If something had as big of an influence than marxism, you should study it -- at the very least for the sake of historical analysis

>>25555060
>>25555065
So there's no real canon then ? Just a bunch of excerpts scattered everywhere ? The German Ideology seems interesting thoughbeit
>>
>>25555101
I think he posted a solid guide here
>>25555088
If you want to read the complete works of Marx and Engels you can I dont think it is necessary.
>>
>>25555019
>>25555060
>Don't read X
Whenever someone gives you this advice.
Do the opposite.
>>
>>25555114
>If you want to read the complete works of Marx and Engels you can I dont think it is necessary.
Which works would you consider to be quintessential?
>>
>>25555101
>So there's no real canon
There were and still are countrie that have Marxist studies as a sanctified part of their national academia, and those guys all start their canon at "everything M&E have ever written", and then add one or two Ισαπόστολος saints, and then a couple dozen secondaries on top.

Which yes, makes those canons completely impenetrable for a dabbling gweilo, but that happens to every social discipline if it becomes Serious Business, so sucks to suck, I guess.

Marx:
German Ideology
Fuerbach
Manifesto
Wage Labor and Capital
Critique of the Gotha Program

If you have the time absolutely read Capital if not you are probably ok. Mao might have never read Capital and he won his war.

Engels:
Socialism Scientific and Utopian
Anti Durhing
His notes on dialectics are cool too

I like his sociological works too.
>>
If you want to read Marxists that pushed Marx and Engels dialectic further or laid it out simply you can check out

Lenin
Dialectical and Empirial Critism
Stalin
Dialectical and Historical Materialism
Mao
On Contradiction
On Practice

Stalin is like reading a high school essay its so easy he doesnt develope anything new.
Mao is also very easy to read but he adds Daoist unity of opposites thought to his dialectic.

That sounds fun but not as fun as using a cheese grater on my balls and squeezing lemon juice on them afterwards
>>
>>25555122
Nice try bro, but I'm not going to read 400 pages of some bullshit that's wrong, and always leads to people starving to death whenever they put it into practice
>>
>>25554973
Hegel is the foundation of Marx
>>
>>25556108
Also unreadable garbage.
>>
>>25555184
>>25555088
I'm not trying to read the entire canon desu. I just want to read the philosophy before moving on. Besides I already (somewhat) understand marxist political economy.
I'll probably settle on "socialism utopian and scientific" or "the German ideology"

>>25556108
I've read him, apart from SoL and his works on aesthetics. His lessons on reason in history are kino

The materialist side of Marx is equally important to his influence from Hegel.
>>
>>25556938
the materialist side of marx is hegel turned on its head dude have u not even skimmed a page of marx quotes before committing to marxism? lmao
>>
>>25556940
Why does he do that then?
>>
I actually find Marx insightful, but I can't stand marxists, why is that? Was marxism conspurcated with identitarianism?
>>
>>25556997
Postmodern identity politics have infected every single political sphere by now.
Just read theory and stay away from the herd.
>>
>>25556999
Trips of truth to a degree.
The whole point of Marxism is practice. I am not sure if the your average but "marxist" will be open to it but there is value into taking his teachings and applying them to the material world. That why many consider Lenin to be the ultimate Marxist he took Marx and successfully had a proletarian revolution.
>>
the labor theory of value isn't real, muh immortal science is mostly unfalsifiable garbage and is never ever accurately predictive. Early Marx is 19th century race science hierarchy but with modes of production and with communism stapled on to the top.

People study Marx and leftist philosphy and history because esoteric knowledge about bullshit gives you an edge in esoteric bullshit knowledge debates from whence leftist social hierarchy emerges. It is this exact 1:1 parallel to torah study is the exact reason that so many Jews are top leftists academics/theoreticians/etc
>>
>>25557312
Dismissing the LTV as "unfalsifiable" (which is wrong) while reducing the scientific critique of capital to a strawman (academic status games and antisemitic narratives) demonstrates you can't refute a single logical point which has been made.

I don't want to do something, I want to be right about stuff. which you are not.

How do you know if you are right? You need to do things and change things to ensure you are correct. To test your claims.
>>

checked

I love how every Marx thread is just rancid garbage
>>
>>25559120
Its the fuckin /pol/ fans from their Jewish epstein though board.
Most of the Marxists or atleast those read in his thought here have given solid responses to the requests of the parties that are in good faith.
Sophists just are triggered by the name of Marx.
