>>25560725yeah it surprises me a bit that kubrick fans generally stand against it when he uses a lot of the same old tricks just somewhat levelled up. like when he’s being followed and he picks up the newspaper w the headline ‘lucky to be alive’. the film doesn’t point to it, doesn’t mention it. just has it in the frame. that said kubrick got so big (well beyond ‘arthouse’ frame) that i guess for a lot of people it just comes down to ‘nothing happened’.
