No other language will ever provide the same degree of pleasure as the English word 'pussycat'. ESLs will never understand.

Since it doesn't seem like my TV addiction is going to abate any time soon, I'm just gonna lean into it and finally watch The Sopranos, The Wire, and True Detective. Anything else?

Also, kind of weird how there aren't any 'arthouse' TV shows.
>>
>>25567682
Ok, ESL here. Sell me the word pussycat.
Is it just old word + newer word for the same thing glued together, with the added benefit of old word being sexual slang? Or something about the sound, the syllables you need to stress? What is so particularly pleasing about this word, anon? Articulate.

Breaking Bad/Better call Saul, West Wing and of course the only show that actually matters. House MD.
>>

I've actually seen The West Wing 20+ times! It's my favorite show. But you're right on Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul, thanks. House... we'll see.

Twin Peaks: The Return

I kinda liked The Thick of It, it’s actually funny, but somewhat difficult to watch if you are ESL.

I''ve come to think of people who follow the Russia/Ukraine conflict in three categories
>The Zigger/Hohol: Aside from identification they are more or less the same: they support their own side, fervently believe the enemy will lose and that they are winning. Respectable enough.
>The Nega-Zigger/Shadow-Hohol: Ziggers and Hohols who for some reason (normally politics) have turned against their respective governments and choose to support (or I guess tacitly support, sometimes) the opposing side. There are fewer of them, and in my experience they bring a higher level of discourse into the table, but at the end they are still Zigohols.
>The foreigners: Unlike the previous two, these ones are not directly connected to the war by anything other than their own wills, their stance is usually because of domestic politics or ethical reasons. They are generally the least informed and because of their cultural&political distance from the conflict, the most vulnerable to the avant-garde Dezinformatsiya Agit-prop the east slavs love so much. I'm one of these, obv.
>>
>>25567923
If any of you would like to recommend a specific Russian or Ukrainian slur for specifically foreigners I would be happy to substitute 'foreigners' for that.

The US are profiting from these wars as Europe cannot buy Russian oil because of sanctions, and Arab oil because of blocades and blowed-up tubes. Who is left selling oil? The US, who, on top of all, get to sell their stock at high prices because of lacking supply elsewhere. Ursula Van der Leyen is a weak, ridiculous little woman that has no international authority and who plays right into Trumps hands

I wouldn’t say the first 2 seasons of Twin Peaks are “arthouse” TV, but the 3rd that came out less than a decade ago is maybe some of the most unhinged television I’ve ever seen, Lynch had full creative control and he did not hold back. RIP to one of the most visionary auteurs of our time.

All past experience goes to show that an amalgam of already exhausted ethnic principles cannot yield a rejuvenated combination. It is already a bold assumption—granting a great deal—to suppose that the New World republic possesses sufficient cohesion to make the conquest of surrounding lands a possibility. Such a major success—which would give them a valid claim to compare themselves to a "Semitic Rome"—is scarcely even probable; yet the mere fact that it is possible requires us to take it into account. As for the renewal of human society, or the creation of a superior—or at least different—civilization (which, in the eyes of the masses concerned, amounts to the same thing), these are phenomena brought about only by the presence of a relatively pure and youthful race. That condition does not exist in America. The country’s entire endeavor is limited to exaggerating certain aspects of European culture—and not always the finest ones—copying the rest as best it can, and remaining ignorant of more than a few things (1).

(1) An observation by Pickering offers a curious indication of the crudeness of the American Anglo-Saxon genius regarding art. He asserts that most of the folk songs possessed by his compatriots—few as they are—were borrowed from Black slaves, simply for lack of anything better. p. 185.—There is a strong parallel between this fact and the way the Cymri once imitated the spiral designs invented by the Finns.

It’s all bout the gochujang paste or gochugaru powder. I use the paste to make spicy ramen and use the powder to make kimchi. The latter is a pretty laborious process however, takes a lot of trial and error and copious amounts of salt
>>
>>25568112
I have some Gochujang. Does it really ever go bad? I've kept Gochujang past the stated expiration date out of fear to use it, but come on, there's no expiration date on Korean ferment paste, is there?
There's also that shrimp-ferment or fish flavor additional to the regular gochujang, what is that? I also can't find a savory kimchi except for at a certain korean hotpot chain near us. I suspect I will take to fermenting fish

>>
>>25568125
Not really, as long as you keep the paste in the fridge.

I use squid brand fish sauce specifically when making mooli (white radish) kimchi rather than the usual Chinese cabbage one, it’s Thai rather than Korean but it does the job.

>I suspect I will take to fermenting fish

Yeah I don't think I actually have the courage to do the second fridge and any real ferment, will probably happy to be taking out the $7.99 portion which I like from the only local korean restaurant which luckily is near my work (not a bad volume for price for utility to me, considering you really don't need much kimchi in a meal) I will have to perform espionage to find out what's in that 'korean spicy bbq' sauce tho
>>
>>25568182
I'm going to ask you a question, man-to-man, and I don't mean this as an accusation or request for confession, because I too have lived under the permanent crushing feeling of being a person isolated from his family due presently and more importantly during development for their instinctual consideration of my natural self as a hellish family-destroying pervert.
The question is - and this is a big one and remember as I ask you this, the ego that accepts who I am myself lays collateral in the neutrality with which I ask this question - the question is - are you concerned for any reason that you are the gay your parents warned you about?
>>
>>25568194
I'm not sure what you're asking
>>
>>25568202
Are you like a nasty self-hating gay who naturally hides from conservative family if he, oh I don't know, likes to be called a bitch by large black men? Like, as not only a lifestyle choice and dating habit but as a total degredation of your human soul? Do you, in the dark recesses on your or anyone's asshole, feel dirty? Do you corroborate your family's conservative paranoia, and feel it in the prostate silently screaming and pulsing for the release it first felt after a lifetime of denial down to the spiritual cellular level? Or are you like my gay eye doctor, who was shaven down to the bone and was a germaphobe, married with the wedding ring, who gave 'see, I'm clean'? Or are you both?
>>
>>25568204
Guarantee your gay eye doctor is a nasty freak in private
>>
>>25568211
That's what I'm asking!!!
Me and my wife are fucking freaks too! Jesus Christ it's like she wants me to hang her, and she responds flirtatiously to the idea! Who why don't the freaks of all flesh just quit pretending and quit persecuting eachother in becoming all forms of radical sexist left to sublimate their biological dual-identity into not properly explaining to the new progeny what the motherfucking fuck sex is and how to be happy staying horny doing the shit that makes you cum!!!!!!!

A while ago I stumbled on a youtube channel by this Romanian woman who sings renditions of ancient Christian liturgical music. One day she posted a video of her singing a hymn to the Theotokos in a 1920s jazz style, which was gorgeous. I listened to it on repeat for 3 days and then she deleted it. To this day I regret not downloading the video. I even emailed her asking to post it again but she ignored me.

>>25568234
I am not the guy you initially asked the question, bro chill. But yes I am a visibly perverted bisexual slut and I don't care what anyone has to say about that
>>
>>25568204
I don't know what kind of thing you are trying to get me to say here. I am not either of those things.
Most of what I feel is not really sexual in the ordinary sense. I feel a strong yearning for another in whom I can rest within or be gathered up by or dissolve into, and am driven by a romantic ideal, and see the summit of what I desire as a rest and comfort with another that hereto I have not found. These feelings are much stronger for men than they are for women and in fact I have not met a woman who made me feel this way even if I consider it possible-- I would say my sexuality is oriented more towards the right person (whether male or female) than strictly oriented towards one dex, even if the characteristics to which I am attracted are mostly found in a specific and small group of guys. I am not an atheist.
>>
>>25568245
>I feel a strong yearning for another in whom I can rest within or be gathered up by or dissolve into
This is sexual in a very basic sense
>>
>>25568244
Why chill? Are you squeamish? Are you fucking not prepared, in the privacy and silence of our anonymous forum on whatever device anywhere (which you so apparently are unwilling to put down), to talk about whatever glans or clit rotation and by what number of human digits or ranges of genitalia from here to cartoon do you precisely already perform on yourself to achieve your personal quantam orgasm the likes of which Wilhelm Reich never imagined as he sput the planet Earth a new series of sexual rings directly through his penis from his carceral isolated confinement for sexual crimes?
>>
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I'm whole again
>>
>>25568154
It’s ok. God made you that way and loves you.

I knew God was ok with my homosexuality when back in high school there was this kid who kept calling me faggot. He was kind of good looking tho and one time I sat right across from him and he was wearing very loose athletic shorts and I could see right up his leg into his boxer briefs. I saw his very nice package. I figure if God cared he wouldn’t have given me such a great opportunity for karmic payback. God wanted me to see him naked - he presented me the opportunity. Being objectified by a gay kid was his punishment.

The bitter truth is the crimes committed by straights against gays are 1000x greater than the reverse. All the isolation, rejection, ridicule perpetuated by straights rules them collectively guilty.

You have to claim your own will to power and chart your own course in life.

You've given me the answer to my question here, you've said 'no I'm not a pervert at all'. I myself was the pervert in all this.
>>
>>25568249
I meant that I experience it as separate from naked desire or arousal.
>>25568259

Are you that anon who attacks asking to answer and then goes into meltdown when people answer not what you wanted them to? :) I’ll bite though: I do belong in somewhat conservative and religious family. My mother has asked if I’m gay once trying to figure out why I’m still single in my thirties. I’m not gay, I’m merely raised with very little personal space where parents who would control my sexuality. I like playing with the idea of same-sex relationship, I’ve even used to watch gay porn at some point, though it doesn’t work on me the same way straight does. I don’t feel self-loathing because I’m not gay to begin with. I like it like a little secret hobby to pull out sometimes, but my life isn’t lacking without gay relationship in it.
>>

And while I do speak their language, one which was once native to me, to do so now is an act of translation and though my body might be there, my soul simply cannot exist in that environment, and is gone? Is it just people who think themselves critics on 4chan or is it a common trait among critics in general to be the most over sensitive fragile egoed bitches to ever walk the earth?

To even hint at any disagreement with their subjective opinion reliably sends them into a over emotional fit where they drop all pretense and instead just resort to insults, ill wishes, and if they can attempts at sabotage and "cancellation" they are capable of.
Like full on making sock puppet accounts to spend hours manually review bombing shit because someone disagreed with them on a stylistic choice or verb tense in a sentence.
Motherfuckers are literally mentally ill and must not have anything going on in their life to be this much of a hater over something so small.

I have been feeling this strong desire to abandon certain decorum and morals.

Both rich and poor people don’t have this self-imposed burden to act responsible, to not be scammers or crooks. It's only the middle class that shackle themselves with this idea.

Take crypto scammers as a nutshell. It's the most obvious scam ever, but rich people keep doing it despite knowing the harm it will create, and poor people keep buying into it because they aren’t responsible enough to realize it's a horrible idea to buy into it. Who’s left holding the bag? Your average taxpayer.

Kalshi is the exact same type of thing, wealth extraction from the irresponsible. And there seems to be very little appetite in fixing the problem at the source. It makes you want to delegate this type of failure back to policy makers because if you allow this type of scam, no matter how moral a society is, someone will always take up the mantle. Unless you are willing to self-sacrifice there isn't much the average Joe can do about it.

That's the key right there, how much are you willing to self-sacrifice? The obligations I feel are to people who I have interacted with and shown me an iota of respect.Therefor, I feel it's my responsibility to give back everyone an iota of respect as I should act in a way that is both fair to myself, and initiates the type of relationship I would like to have. Taking this to its conclusion, simple acts like voting, putting back your shopping cart, throwing away trash, are real easy ways to give that baseline of respect back to the world.

However, for anything that acts hostile, like companies, governments, greedy people, you might as well act like a self-interested person, else you are just a loser in a race to the bottom. Fuck em, they failed the basic respect test, take whats yours.

Superfluous much?
>>
>>25568728
It's not.

While it might help with brainstorming something relatively original, it's pretty bad for the nitty gritty craft of actually writing the dang thing to not be steeped in literature. Meanwhile if you are well read up you will have tons of examples of functional sentence structure, plot structure, common grammar conventions, audience expectations, and much more fresh in your mind.

Had a friend argue once that TV was fundamentally more low-brow than movies due to the medium. Maybe something to do with the longevity and cost? Or how long something of low production can hold your interest? It is kind of weird how there arent shows with just people talking and cheap sets trying to capture an idea besides a very very select few.

Its not for the best, you are supposed to be optimistic when talking with loved ones. They are tied to you by blood, there is no implicit deal that you remain in the same weightclass as time passes, that is for friends not family. The ones you should be honest with are friends, push them away before you become a drag, family you are allowed to lie to because of the blood you share. Time will be a test for all your relationships, let the last ones you dissapoint be the ones that are still there.

All the creature talks about is how hideous and blackpilled he is and how no one will ever love him. The movie version Elizabeth instantly falls in love with the creature. So whenever he talks about how no one will accept him it just doesn't work.

You ever hear about some of those families in those wife swap shows, where one just gives the kids fast food or processed slop, and the other actually cooks?
I can't remember any specific episodes of this, but usually, the unhealthy kids really enjoy a properly cooked meal. It's like opening a whole new horizon in their mind. Awakening long atrophied desires for real food, and giving them a glimpse down the path of real culinary arts that they've been sorely missing for their whole lives.

Anyway, I just started reading the Complete Fiction of H.P. Lovecraft, and that's what it felt like.
The sentences are lengthy and filled with numerous long words, some of which I had never even heard of. But in spite of that, I kept up and am really enjoying my time reading. I sparsely have to go back to re-read a section, only when my mind wanders somewhere else. I even got into the whole "just one more chapter" spiral near the end of my time.
I'm just now starting to get back into reading after cutting off a rusted weight on my leg in the form of "That one terrible book that your mom was insistent that you'd love, and has been pushing you toward for years."
I picked up a few old popular books like Lord of the Rings, and a Sherlock Holmes collection. I read a chapter of the latter before getting my hands on the Lovecraft book, and it felt like more of the same.
Maybe it's just the older style of taking oneself seriously that I crave. They don't pull any punches, and if you can't piece together the meaning, then that's on you.

I’m reading Mary Shelly rn as you could probably tell from many portions itt. While I’m still interested in the plot I don’t quite enjoy her lack of any detail. “I labored heavily to convey the animation to a dead matter, and then I labored a little more”. Maybe that was alright to inspire the imagination in average victorian, but to me it feels like an intro one would skip to go ahead with actual story.

You should be required to get a Bachelor's in Psychology in order to then study any other social science. Political science, economics, sociology, they should all be graduate only. It doesnt even make sense for you to study a particular aspect of human behaviour if you dont even know the basics of how humans think. The fact that it's standard practice not to is the tell that all social science except psychology is actually just a vehicle for ideology, and resistance to incorporating psychology into it is a defence mechanism against reality interfering with the ideological project you are attempting to push via an academic facade.

Great trick by the system. There could be a connection here to how the left organized protests against the WTO and globalization in the late 90s had its energy channeled into defending the globalist order in the name of "anti-racism" (which was also another way to neutralize more radical racial politics by deluding radicals into believing they can reform capitalism simply by placing a few token figures at the top of the hierarchy), and to the far right, which for years constituted a vocally antisemitic and anti-Zionist contingent online but is now increasingly being manipulated into defending Israel based on the premise of "Western civilization against terrorists/Muslims/etc" neocon arguments or the "lesser evil" vs Muslims (even though the far right or so-called "alt-right" previously singled out Jews as the architects of Muslim immigration).

I can’t be worried about uncontrollable mofo roaming around. Life goes on, man!

Fuck this bitch. When we first started seeing each other she was obsessed with me, saying she was in love with me and obsessed with me. Now she can barely be bothered to reply to my texts, and when asking if I'd be able to see her this week she simply said she wouldn't be free.
It wouldn't bother me so much if it wasn't for the fact that no other woman has any interest in me whatsoever romantically and sexually.
>>
>>25569872
Would you prefer her to pay more attention to you or fuck off completely?
>>
>>25569884
That's a good question. I think she just makes me emotionally confused. On one hand, I don't want to get too emotionally attached because we were quite intense at the start of our relationship, and I don't want to get hurt; on the other hand I don't want to feel like my advances are being actively rejected by her. I've already had to swallow my pride on multiple occassions in order to reach out to her, and I feel as if this is a complete 180 to how she was with me at the begining. She made me feel very seen and validated; and I made her feel the same -- we really did have a deep connection. Now it's like she's sick of me and over the emotional bond we shared.

"Proscribe" is an odd word. It sounds like it'd be a positive thing when it's the complete opposite.
>>
>>25569890
Maybe you just frightened her with your intensity? Idk, maybe she wasn’t looking for anything remotely serious.
>>
>>25569896
She was equally as intense; and although yeah our relationship was casual, I did apologise for my intensity but she would claim it's okay. I can't really explain the nuances of our relationship, it's something I've never experienced before. We are both equally as intense but equally as capable of being cold and distant.
Truth be told I think she's just got attention from elsewhere. She has no shortage of male orbittors. Ithink I will just have to be strong within myself and get over her, and leave it as the whirlwind romance I'm certain it was only ever meant to be.
>>
>>25569902
That’s fair. Hope it turns for the best for you!

Absolutely not. The leaves aren't even changing here yet.

failed something major and subsequently had my dream career route permanently close off to me. it's been about 2 weeks since then and I have not really recovered. been drinking near daily and struggling to concentrate or do anything other than go to work and come home like a robot.

I hate meeting people on anonymous boards. Not just talking casually about silly shit, but meeting meeting. All of this half-spoken stuff always end up in one huge misunderstanding mess.

Is there a sadder sight than the still active disciple of some fallen academic empire, like unironic Freudians, Marxists, or Chomskyan linguists (wonder what's the commonality between those three), still fighting like that one japanese soldier who was left behind on some out of the way island in the pacific for almost two decades after the war ended?

You can sit here and practice 'political correctness' all you want but if you want better societal control and a return to the common orgasm you'd be better off slitting throats on some ziggurat somewhere

I have no friends. And when I do talk to people I'm usually reminded why it's best for people like me to be alone. However sometimes there are interesting and smart people but those already have friend groups that are impossible to join.
