Literally every book would be better genderbent. Madame Bovary? Hah! Ripe.
>>25587902Yes but animefags are ruining it. Their shitty tropes that they think are good writing are infecting the trend, warping characters into unrecognizable states. And no, just because it started as a tsundere trend does not mean you can just make her a one note sussy baka ass anime girl.

>>25587913>>25587971>>25588960Because artists can draw whatever the hell they want, there are no rules. If you a fanfic or art that you think is too <whatever> and that "it's ruining it" then that's your problem. From where I'm sitting there's been a remarkable number of good ones. Many are only "good" in the sense of being enjoyable one-off fanfic scenes: eg Malfoid teasing potter for staring in the mirror of erised then again laughing that it's broken because all she can see is herself and Harry. Wouldn't actually worl well in the narrative as a whole but fun to watch. Similar with the love potion one.
Making Draco female doesn't just reaffirm his arc, it gives it somewhere to go. The real payoff is Lucius.A spoiled daddy's girl is the natural read, and it makes his over protectiveness land harder a father who wants nothing but the best for his daughter, in a house built on appearances. As the story progresses, Lucius has to sit with his daughter falling for Harry, and that forces him inward. Does he break her to fit the family's politics, or break himself for her sake?Push her toward the Dark Lord and he watches her heart break, watches that smile disappear. He tells himself it's for the good of the family, until he can't stand it. Or she runs to Harry's side, and he has an even harder choice to make.So it's enemies to lovers on the kids' side, with "But daddy, I love him!" underneath. A father willing to do anything for his family, even serve the Dark Lord, who has to change because his daughter loves the hero.
>>25587913Most people have shitty taste and Harry Potter is one of the most popular franchises in the world. No it wouldn't be better. Malfoy is a wizard supremacist, wood and spell ultra traditional. Malfoid wouldn't be hanging out with Potter the same way Malfoy didn't. She would rather just ignore him. Though now I can kinda imagine her pulling Marquise de Merteuil shtick where he rejects her advances so that she plots to compromise his love interest I guess. IMO it would be difficult to give him female rival and keep it looking natural. Now that I think of it, Malfoid must be a dyke, and Pottah may steal a girl from her, being the nasty white man rich jock he is who already has all the girls. This way they kinda in the same ballpark, and I see the potential for long time animosity.
>>25589057Thank you! Malfoid is just a wish-fulfilling fanfic wank to allow for the fantasy of having cute blonde old money gf, which does have a place to be in a fanfics, don’t get me wrong, but in canon it’s like a puzzle piece that doesn’t fit, so that you force it disregarding all of the small bits and curves.

>>25589565>Dude, but can you imagine a girl bugging a guy? I can but that's only because it's purely anecdotal. A girl and boy I went to highschool with would bicker and bitch and fight constantly, allllllllllll the way from year 9 to graduation. Like proper antagonistic. Dunno how it happened but they're married now. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ don't know the mechanics of how it goes from one to another but it does happen In terms of Malfoid's romantic interest in Potter, I could see it all stem very easily with the onset of puberty and evolve from there. Like they've been bickering for years, her developing a romantic interest could be an ego thing, considering she IS egotistical >give him a female rival and keep it looking naturalVery easily. You'd assume again, it's natural evolution of their early years enemy situation, again considering the onset of puberty and all the turmoil that comes with it

>>25589826No they don't. Men's films entirely lack romance beyond, 'then he has sex with the babe.' Men do genuinely like real romance stories but they're almost never presented. Probably because of the modern stereotype that 'romance is just for girls' which is dumb.

It actually does work1. It improves many of the most criticised parts of the original story, like Draco's story presence and ultimate character arc being kind of whatever in several of the books even though he's introduced as one of the central characters in the first book, Voldemort getting dabbed on by the elder wand being anticlimatic and the conclusions of the romantic subplots being weak.2. It increases the drama and angst and personal stakes the characters have on the events. The story's emotional highs become higher and the lows lower. Tons of people can clearly sense this somehow, but aren't able to put it into words. There's a good reason why so many artists have drawn the bathroom fight's ending for example.3. The side effects somehow manage to spill over to other's characters arcs and add more drama to them too. This poster >>25589034 makes a great point, and I'll also point out it adds an extra twist to Snape because they would remind him of his own mistakes and tragedies even more than before.

>>25589771Because romance is cringe and people who like it are rightfully mocked.
>>25589860So, to get more specific about the point (not that (You) care, but I'm going to explain anyway):The Malfoid romance is a "beta male" targeted romance. This is the neglected market. Not "loser beta" but the healthy, reasonable understanding that most men are beta males but can grow up to be confident, well-adjusted and desirable men. It is a dangerous narrative in a gynocentric society, in that it can unfairly raise a beta male's hopes and expectations against the harsh reality of "liberated"(unprincipled) real-world female behavior. But it should also be obvious why it's appealing to a large audience. Not feminists, gape-faced soicukolds and assorted degenerate marxists pushing disgusting ugliness. Not the dudebro and the bimbo. The beautiful princess and the everyman who rises to heroism and wins her heart.

>>25590800the underlying premise of making malfoy a girl is deeply tied to making her the main love interest because that's the only way malfoy is a charactersome of his fans like to pretend he had a redemption arc or something, but he didn't. he was a prick at the start and he's a prick at the end and he is never really forced to confront or change his flawed values. JKR made the character to be a low stakes foil for small child harry and once the plot outgrew the significance of the schoolyard bully, malfoy's character no longer had a purpose and was thus ignored for a couple of books before JKR decided to throw him back into plot relevance in HBP. and the result is just, kinda shit. his character doesn't amount to much, but he still has fans because there's fertile ground there. you could do all sorts of interesting drama with him. he's a rich pureblood like harry, so you have both tension over their clashing values and a sense of connection that could take forms of jealousy or rivalvry or, eventually friendship (or romance). you could milk all sorts of drama and angst out of a character who is forced to go against the school who, despite grumbling, has been his home for years, turning against teachers and students alike when the dark lord forces him to act. it's no wonder really people jump at the chance to give him more space in the story. and that's really the core of these "female malfoy fixes these problems" arguments - a better written, more expansive male malfoy would fix a lot of these problems too. JKR just dropped the ball.
>>25589014I think the way you could make the mirror scene work is if at that point it represented that Malfoid's greatest desire in relation to Harry was just to be friends with him. The first thing in her privileged want free life that she wanted but couldn't get. >>25589389>>25589506Pottah BAKA

At that stage Harry x Malfoid would have a lot of history and nearly killing her and having her covered with lacerated wounds is grotesque and an unspeakable tragedy. How could Harry ever recover from that? The stakes and payoffs would for sure be something else.
>>25587902Female Draco would not have been enough to save one of the dullest franchise in the history of movie franchises. Each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.>a-at least the books were good though"No!"The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.

>>25591874I agree. There's no reason to genderbend those two, when there are perfectly canon slitherin girls that can act as Malfoid's minions. Altough it makes some problems, like when Harry and Ron drank potion that turned them into Crabbe and Goyle.
>>25587902QRD on why this became suddenly hyperpopular in September 2026?I've seen>Aroused, Potter?threads on /tv/ plenty times years ago, but this particular trend must have started in September this year. Why? I checked the first page on Gelbooru when looking for fap pics.
>>25591937Because this time it's not just coom bait, but there's a story behind her. People analyse what would happen if instead of Draco there was Malfoid, write fanfics, make animations etc.
>>25591937It was easy to automatically dismiss it as a niche fetish thing but then off the back of some art going viral and a funny meme name it suddenly gained momentum, which prompted people to properly consider the idea.
>>25591874>>25591931Crabbe and Goyle could be made physically larger and imposing duo and give them +20 IQ points each so they can do nasty mischief without Draco and actually perform the brutish male bully role that they were supposed to be. A gigabaddie like Malfoid wouldn't hang out with two middling-status brutes as her friends. She could still manipulate them into executing her plans regardless. Malfoid would be the #1 popular Slytherin girl and her squad could be Pansy Parkinson and some cool guy like Theodore Nott or Blaise Zabini. More an alliance of power rather than unconditional friendship. This Slytherin dark trio with two girls and one boy would perfectly reflect the golden trio of Harry. Having an actually competent nemesis-trio would up the stakes so much.
>>25591937Instead of being a coom coom coom trend, its a big thunk trend.Like how would a Malfoid fit into the world of Harry, what would change, how would other characters affect her, how would she affect them etc etc. It's really fun seeing the back and forth over stuff like whether she'd be a "Daddy's Girl" and strive to make her father proud (he would be) or whether Lucius would lowkey resent her and view her solely by the social or political capital she'd net
>>25591937Conspiracytards will tell you Malfoid has been astroturfed to promote the HP reboot, but if you ask me, it's probably the other way around: With the new HP show looming on the horizon, people's thoughts have returned to the franchise of their youth and a female version of Malfoy has always had a lot of breakout potential. This specific trend could've conceivable started two years earlier when pic related was drawn, but it just didn't catch on at the time. Now, however, the stars have finally aligned and random chance has given Malfoid the final push she needed to really blossom in the public conciousness.
>>25591979> the stars have finally aligned NASA did discover that heart nebula right next to the Draco constellation. That is 100 percent God sending a message, I know it's true
>>25591937It is an ingenious small change that rewrites the 7 books. Malfoid is the key change that gives HP potential to become a mythic masterpiece with long-lasting cultural relevance. AI visuals allow more people to concretely visualize it as something that could actually be real.>the romance sub-plots have always been intensely critiqued as forced, unbelievable, sudden, uneventful>removes the tired "Slytherin is pure evil House" that Rowling forced and what the fandom tried to rewrite for two decades>fixes the weak ending with a more satisfying completion to the Hero's JourneyThe series starts with a mother's love and The Boy Who Lived. That rhymes with the ending The Girl Who Loved that saves Harry and the world. This redeems all of House Slytherin and makes the fractured world complete again.
>>25591937Same as Bowsette. Initial design was hot and things just spiraled from there.
>>25587902HARRY POTTER JUST NEEDS A HARRIËTTE POTTERTHE MALFOYS ARE, IN THE HARRY POTTER BOOKS, REGARDLESS OF THEIR SEX, PARTS OF THE ANTAGONISTS TO THE PROTAGONISTS, SO GENDERSWAPPING A MALFOY WOULD MAKE THE BATTLE NOT BETTER OR WORSE, ONLY MORE SEXUALIZED
>>25590527>can you just jerk off instead of justifying it as a literary choice?HmmmmmmmNo.
>>25591017Someone kinda is. I'd be interested to see what the esteemed scholars of /lit/ think of this actually;https://archiveofourown.org/series/6704161He skipped a lot of the first book but he's writing like a man with a mission, and there seem to be more changes than writing Malfoid in.
>>25591968Correct, and when they did so consider, they discovered a lot of interesting potential-- both in silly, fun ideas and serious full-rewrite style analysis.
>>25591979I think that's right. The new series with the...casting choices we'll say? The audience is saying if that's all the official channels can manage, we'd rather have fanart, fanfic and yes even AI slop that speaks to our hearts instead.
>>25592048*Inhales*
>>25587913>Ara ara, Potter...
>>25592064THANK YOU FOR BREATHING
>>25592064HE'S GONNA SAY THE M-WORD! GET DOWN!
>tfw you we̵re never bullied in high school by a prissy rich brat who secretly had a crush on you
>>25592076Anyways, Malfoid is the puzzle piece that completes the Harry Potter series, transforming it from a middling children-come-YA series into a mythos about the redeeming power of Love in all it's forms. No further changes to characters are needed, Malfoy just has to be born as a girl, Malfoid. The series will be *chef's kiss*
