>>25588613>attempt to justify spending hundreds and thousands of dollars on an otherwise free hobbyPlease, you first. Especially since these are all for show. Or are they new? You’ll read them soon, right?
>>25588613Good shelf, don't listen to the haters itt.
>>25588613Good shelf besides the abridged Canterbury Tales>>25588617Spines aren’t a good way to tell whether the book has been read or not if the owner isn’t an ape. My paperback Monte Cristo has such minor spine creasing that you can't really see it on camera. This is because I did not gorilla throttle it
You have to post age for us to tell if this is a good shelf or not.
>>25588693>if the owner isn’t an apeHe purchases and reads manga, anon.
>>25588613>>2558870419, been collecting about 3 years now

>>25588859>>25588863>>25588864Great collection, I definitely need to pick up some political philosophy and history next. Any specific recommendations? I'm especially interested in American History.
>>25588869Canterbury Classics are a larp, but they do look nice. Also, Sarah J. Maas? Seriously?
>>25589005The oxford histories of the US are excellent books
>>25588756Okay, now we're getting somewhere. This shelf is quite good for a teenager, some typical popcorn and bubblegum selects notwithstanding. Just need more books that don't scream "high school/undergrad syllabi course list" material.
>>25589124Damn, Vollmannigga that's an impressive collection. Are any of these signed? I just bought a signed Vollmann novel with an interesting sketch
>>25588693come on nibba, be honest, you know at least a third of those books have not been read yet
>>25588613It's good enough to impress a weeb or a gamer, i guess
Only read maybe 50 of these so far lol
>>25588613Not everyone can have real copies.
>>25589300Why is the first volume's little sun a different colour?
>>25588613Reading proust in french presents challenges for most people on this board.
>>25589124>>25588869>>25588863>>25588859>>25588613>shelf tightly stuffed wall to wall with booksI hate it. Not that I have gay little knick-knacks on mine but it's more aesthetic to have some negative space.
>>25589309Why would you ever read in an inferior language?
>>25589317
>>25588617If you are someone like me you would absolutely destroy your palms and wrists before cracking a spine. Ugh, I may need to move onto hardcovers.
>>25589319
>>25589324
Does anyone have v real books here?
No good books yet.
>>25589330>No good books yet.you'll get there eventually
>>25589328>trade LoAs and folioslopanon... at least buy the slipcases...
Thoughts on this sag. Can't be bothered with the rest of my shelves. My camera is shit. Ain't a phone person
>>25589330>organized by color That's cute. Did your boyfriend help?
>>25589124How much did the RuRD run you?
>>25589483everyman's has a color coding system unlike LoA and Pleiades (I think?). The everyman's dust covers are usually complete shit anyways, they're very ugly.
>>25589328>two shelves of Loeb classics That’s not your pic
>>25589011That crap is my girlfriends. The bottom shelves have doors so they mainly help way it down. Also have a bunch of textbooks for the same reason.
My books (around 1k) are in a different country rn but I just wanna say a lot of these shelves are way too normcoded to be on lit and yes, if your book looks pristine, you are not reading that shit. Anyway I have pieces that wash this entire thread that I found for free or bought for two dollars (first edition of Caulaincourt’s Napoleon, mammoth 1960s study of Africa undertaken by British lord for the Crown which passed into my possession through the collection of a former sec of state for African affairs, both essential philosophical works of the Iranian revolution, marine corps Vietnam war propaganda magazine from 1971, etc) AND I WRITE IN ALL OF THESE AND BEAT THEM UP. To love is to leave one’s mark. And you do love books, right? You’re not just posing for some normcattle who show up at your house? Right? At least the Vollmann guy can actually claim to be a collector. the rest of you are pseuds. /thread
>>25589511>if your book looks pristineIf your book doesn't look pristine, or close to it, you should throw it out and buy a new one
>>25588864I love paperbacks
