What's the recommended reading order for Lovecraft? Should I read his works chronologically or start with the most important stories? Any reading order /x/ recommends?
>>25589490There is no reading order. Start with whatever story sounds the most interesting to you. Or alternatively start with his shortest story, and if you like it move onto his longer stories.
>>25589490The order in the library of America collection is good. If I were you I'd jump around and read some other weird fiction guys after each short story as Lovecraft can get monotonous.
>>25589490Start with Dagon
>>25589490Why? It's all fucking amateurishly written fucking trash.
There is not a single worthwhile Lovecraft story in existence. Read Machen and Hodgson and Robert Chambers instead.

>>25589537So you're also insecure, faggot?
I was unimpressed with Lovecraft at first. He seemed very similar to Poe. Then I read "Pickman's Model" and everything changed. So I recommend starting with that story.
