ITT: children's books that are too deep for you
>>25589663I sincerely hate The Last Battle. I read it once when i was a kid, and to this day I refuse to reread it.Lewis' idea of happiness is Armageddon and a deadly train accident, ironic coming from a man that was so devastated by the death of his wife (only one person) that he had to write a whole book about grief as a way of coping.
>>25589663I remember the Rainbow Fish being too deep for this board
>>25589663>This was not merely a children's story.>It was a warning.FAIgs should be killed. People who talk like FAIgs should be hanged by their intestines.
Dawn Treader and LWW are at least twice as strong as the other books in the series. Horse and His Boy doesn't even belong in the set. They're still probably the best books you can read to your kids at like 7 to 8 years old or so.
>>25590296They are all good, Horse and His Boy included.Last Battle is not very enjoyable. I hated it as a kid, but it's easily the most important and relevant to modern western culture. It's worth taking the apocalypse and train accident shit with a grain of salt and not letting it filter you.>Lewis' idea of happiness is Armageddon and a deadly train accidentDishonestly reductive assessment. We all must face our own death someday. What is your coping plan?
>>25590296Dawn Treader is the only one I reread even as an adult. I’m fond of the voyage and the images like the ocean of flowers
>>25590381based, that was one of the good ones
>>25589848Agreed, it was like the ending of LOST. Both got sequentially shittier. The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe is the best by far. Its like Dune the drop in quality is STEEP after each book.
>>25590323>What is your coping plan?First I'd start by replying to the right anon, second I wouldn't come up with an overly moralistic family massacre to prove my point.
>>25590381I found a choose your own adventure book based on it in a second hand book store at some point and had fun choosing my own Dawn Treader adventure.
