What does /lit/ think about Voegelin? Is he worth reading?

>>25591745Strange. Just picked up a copy of his essays a week ago at a used shop wondering the same thing. Probably won't pick it up until early next year as I'm busy with some other stuff rn

>>25591745He's very important for his political philosophies, as he was front and center of the reaction to and analysis of nazi totalitarianism. He also had a big influence on his contemporaries like Strauss and Arendt. He draws on a massive amount of prior cultural and historical history so he can be hard to parse, and he wrote a ridiculous amount as well. Voegelinview.com has good articles about him and his work on their website to get started.
I never read him, but I have read about him in the works of a certain Eugene Webb. You may want to check that out. Voegelin wrote many volumes so some kind of summary work like Webb might be good before you decide to start such a massive reading project (if you start something, you MUST finish it).
