How do we save science fiction literature?
>>25592617We don't. Sci fi as an form has been explored to its limits. Deal with it.
>>25592617Same way you save anything: remove all the nonwhites and homosexuals and women. Wa la.
>>25592642>Wa laFo pas
>>25592617>howget rid of all the leftist authors

the guy above me is a glownigger. he literally posts these photos on every board .

Bring back the metaphysical. Redditors can never make anything good because they are busy writing characters that dunk on dumb people with science because the are materialists and science always has the answer. Something metaphysical and more or less irrational like the Shrike from Hyperion could never be written today.
>>25592661Flatties don't have a chance but regular women should fill it out properly and create a seal stronger than most metal
Write sci-fi in the style of Pynchon, DeLillo, Sorokin, etc., and not by predditors who are questionably literate
>>25592617You save it by forcing sci fi writers to get back in touch with the non-fiction that made sci fi distinguished from other fiction. Politics, philosophy, ethics, history. Those were the things that made sci-fi interesting and capable of edifying commentary. Now like fantasy, sci-fi is more concerned with resembling cartoons and video games, providing stories that are simply about "going on a fun adventure with your imaginary friends!"
>>25592617Publish my novels desu
*is one of the most annoying people on the planet*
>>25592835yeah noawadays sci-fi is synonymous with space shit. Star wars is considered sci-fi when it's fantasyset in space
>>25592837This, but my novels instead.
>>25592837need latina
>>25593034anon that's niki minaj
Make "sci-fi" back into speculative fiction. Dick, Ballard, these are who authors should be copying, not Battlestar Galactica and popular science magazines.
>>25593041I know but she looks like gta6 lucia here and that activated my neurons and now I need latina
>>25592642Its this, OP. Also, its 'voila' you uncultured swine.
Stanislaw Lem is my favourite sci fi writer and he basically wrote philosophical thought experiments as sci fi stories. So probably something like that.

Another world war.
>>25592661Same way as her hands presumably.
>>25592835>>25592847>youthniggaz'50s and earlier SF is almost all fantasy in space. Dumarest of Earth, Northwest Smith, Lensman. Don't even get me started on Hoka! Hoka! Hoka! The Asimovesque stuff was always in the minority (he was considered a hard SF writer if you can believe it) until the 1980s.
the problem with science fiction is that we have caught up with it. I mean we pretty much live in a cyber punk dystopia, but its a mundane one. who knows if it will get more exciting as time goes on, i mean just the other day elon debuted a flying car.You have to create a new movement in the scifi world, cyberpunk is here and its played out. What is the future from 2026 and forward, not the future of the 80s and 90s.Personally i see the most vital subgenre of scifi right now being the dying earth subgenre, whatever you believe in, climate change, resource depletion, the whole demographic collapse milieu, the coming AI god of death, etc, etc, whatever you believe in, the future right now seems grim, and people should write to that grimness of a slowly dying earth
Admit science fantasy allows for better worldbuilding as technology and physics reach their natural limits in the real world and embrace that as the new frontier.Yesterday's hard sci-fi is today's fantasy or contemporary literature.
>>25593085>Also, its 'voila' you uncultured swine.it's a meme, you dip

>>25594110>the problem with science fiction is that we have caught up with itNo. >I mean we pretty much live in a cyber punk dystopiaCyberpunk is distinctly no sci-fi. Wtf is cyberpunk about VALIS, or Roadside Picnic, or Rendezvous with Rama?>cyberpunk is hereWhere? You're all throwing cyberpunk here and cyberpunk there and at the mean time, there's been like 8 substantial works of cyberpunk fiction published, ever. >Personally i see the most vital subgenre of scifi right now being the dying earth subgenreWell, have you considered reading anything in the literal actual Dying Earth series? No?
>>25594883>Where?In the real world.
>>25594110cyberpunk is not all of sci fi. >Personally i see the most vital subgenre of scifi right now being the dying earth subgenrelol are you a boomer?
By writing detailed descriptions of the breasts of every female character
>>25592617The problem is that unlike fantasy sci-fi cannot survive being self referential and incestuous. You need authors with interests other than scifi and military technology.Fuck, make a scifi publishing house that' exclusively hires arborists, civil engineers, butchers, theosophists and synthetic chemists.>>25594101TRVTHNVKE Star Wars is slop but bitching about it as some nefarious root cause reveals how much of a tourist you are.

>>25594110>we pretty much live in a cyber punk dystopia, but its a mundane one.You reddit normies are so fucking stupid it is unreal. There are people making millions of dollars on cryptocurrency, there are dudes barely out of their teens earning 50k a trip out to the Congo in PMCs using drones and night vision hardware to kill Africans in a proxy war with China, there are hackers scamming hundreds of thousands of dollars a month using deep faked AI video and audio gens of women and men in romance scams, there are people living off grid and also hopping between countries evading taxes, with digital income streams, and so so much more. You are some consumer bug in the burbs doing shit all with their life playing retro aesthetic "cyberpunk" games and old fantasy books like Neuromancer thinking it was actual sci fi and bitching that life is boring. It's boring because you take no risks. You have no idea how the real world actually is now.

>>25592617>How do we save science fiction literature?Latex tentacle fuck women drowning in fishbowls, duh.
we'll probably never invent ftl travel or find aliens so sci-fi is kinda depressing these days.
>>25596166That's why Star Wars is so popular. It trivializes all the problems we have in real life. Some greasy dude in overalls can fix a spacecraft with FTL capability like it's a bicycle, and fully autonomous talking robots are just walking all around the place.
>>25595608>almost(Also there are arguments to this day about whether Verne should be considered SF)
Science fiction is a crude, parasitic genre—one that feeds on fantasies—which has only been elevated by a handful of superior creators.Do you know where the name itself comes from? It stems from an inferiority complex. In Anglo tradition, "real" literature is expected to be realistic (the most common argument against science fiction has always been that it's not real). Yet, "fiction" is tolerated as a necessary evil - most people to this day believe that good literature is fiction in just little part. So, to bolster the impression of a connection to reality, the respectable term "science" was tacked onto "fiction." The idea, then, is that it’s a realistic novel - just one based on science! This was, however, a cheap ploy, as science fiction has always served primarily as a vehicle for fantasy. It is no coincidence that science fiction’s main rival, fantasy, has supplanted it. This did not represent the displacement of science by fantasy, but rather the abandonment of a scientific veneer in favor of a para-mythological one, which eventually gave way to pure fantasy, designed above all to provide pleasure. There is no point in reviving an outdated fashion. Science fiction is dead, and it will not rise again. It is possible, however, to move beyond the greatest evil of fantasy, the obsession with pleasure, and redirect the tools of fiction toward issues that are significant to our existence. In this sense, for example, Pynchon wrote science fiction.
