If I read all this, can I finally be considered intelligent?
>Catcher in the Rye better than Moby Dick
Reading in this way gives you very little foundation outside of just: what is great literature. It's a flimsy foundation that makes it impossible to really appreciate anything specifically, just a broad appreciation flitting from one novel to the next just to check some boxes off. Find what you like and learn it as deeply as you can.
>>25593185Outside of Moby-Dick, American literature is a complete meme. How the fuck could anyone place Catcher in the Rye and On the Road on such a list as this? The fact that America is the most repeated country on this list is telling that this list was compiled by an American. Sure, Faulkner and Lowry were good, but seriously, this list is painfully lacking in taste.
>>25593191>>25593238Catcher better
>>25593238Faulkner is one of the greatest writers of all time. Maybe the greatest. As for America as a whole, we're still young.
>>25593185No, because you needed a list that was compiled for you to find them. At best you're a midwit.
>>25593185Half that list is slop.Just work your way up to Hegel.Start with the Greeks.
>>25593185All in all, for a beginners list, this is not too bad, if you are willing to forgive the rankings.
>>25593185No at best you will be considered well read
>>25593253>still young>already a crumbling empire I guess you have your decades of decay to produce good /lit/ still
>>25593185surelol
>>25594081We'd been winning too long. There was no need to dissect the soul.
>>25593219This. Omg so much this!
>>25593185>Anything American No
>>25593219no you should read widely no one wants to be a fanboy
I am doing this aswellI combined 2 'top 100' lists that I found and I will read all of the booksI don't care about finding some rare gem, I wanna know what people are talking about all the time
>>25593185>fiction>intelligent
>>25593185You can see an uneducated Amerifag made this. He probably hasn't even read the lower ones
What's my IQ so far?
