What's up with a lot of writers being obsessed with the number 7? >harry potter >game of thrones >the dark tower >halo >the bible
>>25593725>that is not a push of pikesFuck off back to hell Satan.
>>255937257 was regarded as a lucky number, common in old superstitions and mythsDunno if related tho
>>25593725It's mathematically kooky, the lowest number that doesn't go into anything, the only round number you get from 7 is 70. In the bibble God rested on the 7th dayAlso there were 7 "planets" in classical astronomyBasically it's a magic number.
Seven is the number.
If you ask people to pick a random number between 1 and 10 the most common answer is 7. There are reasons for this. First of all, when asked to pick a number people assume you mean a random number and to most people odd numbers feel more random than even numbers because even numbers all share that 2 divisor, so they seem more pattern-y. Second of all they want to seen like they have considered their choice, so they don't want to choose a number that is early in the range. Then, of course, 5 is right in the middle and 9 is right at the end, so not those. So they say 7.The second most common answer is 3. Which is the compliment to 7 between 1 and 10. If you ask people for a number between 1 and 20 you should be able to follow the same logic above and figure it out. Here's a hint: it's another number that shows up in stories and folklore way more than it should. Also odd. Also later in the series but not too close to the end. Doesn't have a 5. Got it? 13. Second most chosen number between 1 and 20? It's the compliment to 13, the number 7 again. Odd numbers also allow for a visual and intellectual midpoint, so if you want the hydra to have extra heads a good number is 5 or 7 because that's more aesthetically pleasing.
>>25593725it's halfway to infinity
>>25593725Pythagoreans knew 10 is the perfect number
>>25593830It's just a one with a zero behind.
>>25593725The lowest one on your list might have something to do with all the other ones considering it was the text that made up the primary symbolic register of europe for at least like 1000 years. All of it is downstream of the genesis narrative having 7 days of creation. This in turn probably came from the fact that if you use a lunar calendar (which most of the near-east did around that time and the Israelites probably took from them), and you divide the lunar month up into 4 phases (new, waxing, full, waning) those are kinda 7 days apart.Once you do accept these 7 days as somehow cosmically important, and because its a weird prime number, people then start theologizing about the number. For example, the 7 days make two triads and an additional 7th leftover day which stands apart and must be special, i.e the sabbat. the two triads and the sabbat together make up an new triad. you can see there is a lot of fun sort of kabbalistic symbol shuffling you can do with this.
