Whom are some of your favorite authors from this lovely state?
>>
none of them has ever written anything
>>
>>25595523
Is that where you’re from, OP? I know literally nothing about Idaho, mind you.
>>
>>25595523
Ezra pound obviously

>I know literally nothing about Idaho, mind you.
The south is just more of Utah (high desert, Mormons, Californian carpetbaggers, etc.), the middle is almost entirely public lands and the north is where people from Montana go when Montana gets too liberal for them but they can't move to Alaska. There's a college town (Moscow) and a couple of lib havens on the lakes (CDA, Sandpoint) but outside of those areas the politics of the residents tend to land on a spectrum somewhere between Kaczynski and William Luther Pierce.

Vardis Fisher. Hardly mentioned on here but if you want historical male centric westerns with really good dialogue (sexist and racist tho) then give him a try.
>>
Americans don't do literature.
>>
>>25595523
the guy who writes on the truck stop bathroom walls after the repressed homosexual post nut clarity hits
>>
>>25595523

moving to a place like this is sacrificing any semblance of culture or art for security
>>
>>25596803
it's currentyear anon, almost all culture and art is disseminated electronically

Hemingway

The panhandle is beautiful country. Hemingway shot himself in a pretty town called Ketchum. The house is still there but they make it hard to get to and it's closed -- the neighbors don't like the attention and will call the cops to run pilgrims off.

The average IQ in Idaho is incredibly low, most of the inhabitants are gun obsessed isolationists to one degree or another, other than in the resort town of Coeur d'Alene and in Boise, whose residents are basically despised by all other Idahoans. Boise has a small tech core but most of the rest of the state exists off of federal grants, farming or resource extraction. There is a sliver of tourism money but most of that rightfully goes into Western Montana instead.

After Utah, Idaho is the most Mormon state and Mormons have a near lock on government. The KKK had it's headquarters there back in 90s and there were several infamous incidents that people from Idaho hate being brought up. Last year there was a guy who lit a fire in the woods and then shot at the cops and firefighters who tried to respond, it happened on the anniversary day of the old KKK compound being burned down as a "training exercise" by the local fire department after a judge finally sent the KKK out of the region.

The small mountain towns don't suffer the blighted look that you get in Eastern Montana or Eastern Washington because they staunchly provide no assistance to the people that fall through the cracks in them, so those people remove themselves to the next city that does (which is called Spokane) and that city is more or less ruined by them.

I'm a native and it's been utterly utterly raped by an invasion of literally millions of Californians. It used to be rush hour was one hour in the morning, one in the evening. Now rush hour is all day every day everywhere. All the roads and stores and every single place everywhere is clogged with entitled rude people 24/7. Housing prices have gone up tenfold. Grocery prices have gone up tenfold. There is nowhere you can live where there's not some brown or wigger or redneck retard racing his unmuffled engine down the road disturbing whatever you're doing. I really murderously resent whoever is responsible for this. You might think I'm exaggerating but there is simply no other word for it than Rape. I'm prating for a winter so long and so bad and so brutal that the Californians who moved here in the last decade fuck off forever and don't come back. Imagine every aspect of your homeland being completely destroyed and transformed for the worse on every conceivable level.

Ezra Pound. Funny to think he was born mere miles away from where Ernest Hemingway died.
>>
>>25596803
As opposed to living in somewhere like New York or London or Berlin where you're constantly harrassed by brown people; forced to wage constantly to afford the high cost of living; and are surrounded my midwits who think artists like Marina Abramovic are trangressive?
Come to think of it, has any great writer churned out their magnum opus in a heavily urbanised area?

He's thinking of those performatively faux-masculine hipster barber shop things that sprung up everywhere in the 00s and early 2010s.

>”culture” is when urban hellscape and browns
Oh no how will they survive?

What’s interesting to me is how rural areas act like a complete barrier across the west. Move to the cold, the forests, and the diversity problem disappears. Perhaps they intrinsically need cities to burn down because who’s gonna give them the gibs in bumfuck nowhere?

>>25595723
Damn if I was a burger I'd definitely move to Idaho

We don't have to imagine anon, it has happened everywhere.

But you mock us for not knowing yours. Would be real nice if you learned to make sense for a change.

I thought /lit/ might be the one place outside the "dude bunker yourself in the middle of nowhere and start a farm" mentality on this site. every author got an education, experience and literary connections from living in the city before doing that.

>aha the authors that describe the urban hellscape and torment of people often went to university and lived in cities therefore cities are good actually
Jesus Christ anon.

That's definitely not a hard rule, especially the further back you go, when being tutored was much more the norm than going to the Sorbonne, Oxbridge or an Ivy League university.
