Library staff in Strömstad Municipality filed a concern report with social services after a ten-year-old child borrowed the novel “Haunting Adeline”, reports P4 Väst.

“Haunting Adeline” by HD Carlton is an international bestseller and part of the “dark romance” genre, which has become very popular among young people through, among other things, TikTok. The book contains themes such as stalking, sexual assault and human trafficking.

“We have tried to look after the child’s best interests,” says Frida Svensson, head of unit at the library, to P4 Väst.

The report prompted the child’s father to file a complaint with the Ombudsman against Strömstad Municipality. According to the library’s explanation to the Ombudsman, “there was great concern that a child who borrows this type of book is looking for trauma that could be experienced by themselves”.

The father tells P4 Väst that the child did not want to go back to the library after the incident.

Fucking swedes. Just tell the child 'no', dont give them the porn book, instead you go to the government to try and get the child removed from the parents because of something you did.

I like how the libraries response was to say "Well the only reason the child would want that book is because the same things in the book have happened to him. So actually you should be investigating the parenta and not us." Groomer librarian confirmed lol.

>"We've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas."
An unfortunately common attitude over here.

Doesn’t AO3 work in Sweden or something? What’s the problem here?

>just let your child read dark 'romance' goy
we're in full doublespeak mode. this along with dark psychology has people thinking it's virtuous and special to follow these lifestyles.

At that age the local librarian didn't let us borrow Darren Shan books, lol.
