What books have you been reading to get in the mood for Halloween?

None because I’m not American. Keep your shitty materialistic “culture” to yourself, we don’t want it
>>25598184FUCK ME RAY BRADBURY THE GREATEST SCI-FI WRITER IN HISTORY
>>25598195It's sad because Hallowe'en ain't even that popular here these days (I'm in Canada but same diff). Only adults actually engage with it. I haven't had a trick or treater at my door in years. There are very few children left in my neighbourhood and the extant ones spend all their time inside. I grew up in the same neighbourhood I live in now, and the contrast between my memories of fucking around with the other kids when I was 10-13, and what I see around me now are stark.
>>25598178La Bas, The Golem, The Phantom of the Opera, and Bradbury's Something Wicked have all been enjoyed by me in seasons past. A Counter-intuitive one that worked for me as well is Carlyle's French Revolution
It's true crime (non-fiction) but reads like the best horror-thrillers.

>>25598195Where I'm from we never had much of a Halloween culture either, but I am always very vary of people like you, who have such disdain and hatred for an innocuous holiday that was synonymous with a high trust society. It always comes off as gaslighting, trying to convince people they are better off without what they once had because you are too afraid to admit that we have in fact lost something.>>25598178I usually don't read modern horror books, but I've been making an exception this year and Blackwater has been a very good read so far.
