>see Divine Comedy thread>look inside>it's another Anon who didn't read past the InfernoThis is pissing me off and I'm going to do something about it.We are going to have a thread SPECIFICALLY about the Purgatorio. It's my favorite of the three canticles and I want to talk about it.What's everyone's favorite terrace of the mountain? I enjoy the drama of the flames of the terrace of Lust. Though meeting Dante's friend coming up the stairs, after having been released from his terrace by the prayers of others, is also good.I also love the drama when Dante turns around and Virgil is no longer there.
>>25600502Tried to finish Purgatorio, but the shit is so fucking boring. Dante keeps introducing random Italian guys I couldn’t give less of a fuck about, expecting me to care about their lives, political beefs, and obscure historical drama. Bro, I barely care about the fictional characters I actually like, why the fuck would I care about some 13th-century Florentine nobody? Inferno was kino, but this shit feels like an endless medieval Italian history lecture with occasional poetry sprinkled in.
>>25600502Paradiso > Inferno > Purgatorio
>>25600502>>it's another Anon who didn't read past the InfernoI fully blame the Romantic rediscovery of Dante for this.
>>25600526Purgatorio > wanking about a 13 year old > Inferno ~= Paradiso.
>>25600765>wanking about a 13 year oldLa vita nuova?
>>25600878La Vita Nuova is fine, and I actually love the anticipation of the Comedy at the end.>Dante claims he will write "what has never been written about any woman"My man said he'd write something that had never been written before and he backed it up. It's cool.
>>25600502Why does the bird have tits lulz
>>25600502The part in Canto X where the wall's reliefs are so realistic they are said to surpass nature and almost give the impression of sound and smell is fun. I wonder if Dante envisioned them to be superior to Roman copies or Baroque works.
>>25601358Now, picking the San Severo chapel is cheating a bit, innit? :P
>>25600502i tried to read the other books, i dont remember anything because they were boring. later on i found out that dante said the moon is made of cheese and beatrice told him its illuminated by varying levels of angelic light
>>25600502Purgatorio is my favorite because of the hope aspect that fills every part. All the people are dealing with hard shit but all have so much hope that it will get better. Especially coming off of Inferno ABANDON ALL HOPE parts the hope filled part hits extra hard.
>>25600502Inferno is literally the only good part, he clearly ran out of steam by Purgatorio and was just tired with the concept and ready to be done by Paradiso. He just wanted to send his enemies to hell. That's literally it.
