I live in brown thirdy country but deep down sometimes I feel really insecure or even guilty of reading so much of western literature all day. I have never met a white man in my real life, I have seen them from a distance and it feels so weird. And yet I read so many books written by them, I read western lit almost everyday. Last week I saw a white woman and I have been so strange since then. She looked so different from me, her mannerisms were different, she felt like an alien to me. Yet I don't read literature from my country and is it because in my brain somewhere I have this idea that western civilization is superior? Isn't it self hatred? Problem is I don't really like most of the literature from my culture. It's too sentimental or it's about social issues. Or maybe I am lazy As I am growing older this is bothering me more and more and I hate it. I feel so disconnected from my surroundings. Are those loudmouth political brained Post-colonial woke types in my country right that I am slave of my white masters? Is there any other anon going to same predicament?Please help me or recommend me something. This is ruining my experience of art.
There's one thing more, even when I read something from an Eastern Culture like the Epic of Gilgamesh, it's still in English. How do I cope with this?

In westoxication particularly he addresses the idea that because of western cultural hegemony, educated eastern people are consuming media that doesn’t really address their needs or situation. It's normal to like things from other cultures that your culture doesn't have. My culture generates a lot of high test literature. However it has no capacity for cuisine. I'll carry a copy of Moby Dick into a Pakistani restaurant. You can do that too. One experience isn't invalidated by the other because of who the protagonist is.
