I'm probably more accomplished than a decent chunk of this board. I have an MA in English Literature, I've gotten multiple short stories and poems published, I've presented original academic research at a major conference in my field.

I don't really say this to brag, or maybe I do. I guess I'm also going to make the observation that I frequently get told on here that I'm a moron and don't know what I'm talking about by Anons, and having cause to reflect on it in light of all I've accomplished in /lit/ terms, I suppose it's all rather funny. You really can't do anything but laugh, in such a position.
>>
>>25602243
Reread what you wrote. Tell me anon, in your MFA, would you consider that good prose, or breathy meandering bullshit aping better writers?
>>
Guess where I am.
>>
>>25602261
Not the anon you are replying to, what does Breathy mean in this context? That it is disjointed? Stuttered?
>>
>>25602261
nta but do you think an MA and an MFA are the same thing?
>>25602243
Hello anon. Why are you here?
>>
If anyone remembers me after I die, something has gone drastically wrong.
>>
Turns out my boss is an A- list celebrity (according to chatGPT). A+ in their genre of music. I wasn't cognizant of this person's existence before I got hired. But I'm out of touch when it comes to popular music.
>>
>>25602277
Eh, 20ish drinks in, thought his publishing credentials implied MFA in my quick scan; sue me. Personally I find an MFA more prestigious as it implies talent, but an MA in English isnt particularly difficult.

>>25602274
Kind of, but also ponderous and almost eliptical. Like someone with asthma taking forever to say nothing while you wait, attempting to be polite.
>>
If I die, something has gone drastically wrong.
>>
>>25602281
True, cause we will be gone too. It would be strange if they just kept the simulation still going

>Hello anon. Why are you here?

To talk about books and to engage in discussion of literature and poetry.

Also to shitpost. This is 4chan, after all, I can't possibly take myself too seriously on here.
>>
>>25602302
Go on then. Impress me with some deep cut postmodern fiction recommendations.
>>
>>25602243
You may be a moron, being qualified does not release you of that. But he was likely just a belligerent boor.
>>
>>25602318
I'm not the biggest fan of postmodernism, actually. Have you ever read Waiting For Godot? The script of the play?
>>
>>25602341
Of course, that's highschool reading in my country. More modernism than postmodernism. Invisible Cities is post modern, Godot is fairly modern as it's abstract, but lacks the postmodern anxiety and invocation. Anyways, rather than going on and on about what I like, what do you like?

I like mystical fiction, honestly. Magical realism, and literary fiction that indulges in elements of the supernatural. I love fiction that plays around with the border between what's "real" and what's fantastical.

The best book I've read that was recently published is pic related. One of my favorite books.
>>
>>25602352
Neat, you're one of "those". I always wished I could read spanish, but House of Spirits is one of the first books that came to mind when you said Magical Realism and two seconds ago I was just talking about Borges in the weird bewks thread, which I'm sure is up your alley. I'm more of a nihilist and continential philosophy guy, which is pretty much short hand for pomo faggotry, without the pretension.

What's that one about? I dont really read new things that arent textbooks.
>>
Can the anon from the previous thread please tell me what is going to happen on the 27th?

I want to slash myself across the stomach and watch my guts pour out
I want to set myself on fire and jump into an abyss
I want to smash my skull with a hammer
I want to beat my head in with a brick
I want to cut myself up into little pieces and stuff them into a big black garbage bag and dump myself in the deep end of a lake
I want to throw myself out of the helicopter at 10000ft
I want to drown myself in a pit of boiling acid and burn myself up
I want to set myself on fire and jump off a 30 storey building
I want to douse myself in paraffin and torch myself
I want to slit myself open with a butter knife and watch the darkness seep from my insides like a spill of ink
I want to know what it’s like to be a corpse rotting in the water, to feel like a piece of garbage, to feel like garbage, trash
I want to smash my legs and arms and head to smithereens
I want to bash my skull to a paste and smear it all over the ceiling, I want to paint the floor with blood and shit
I want to throw myself under the wheels of the biggest truck I can find
I want to watch myself die a thousand different deaths
I want to bury myself in the dirt of the deepest forest and watch the worms eat me from the inside out and drink the bile that spills from my open eyes
I want to shove my head in a freezer and watch the inside freeze over, the eyes, the nose, the ears
I want to bash my head against the brick wall and smash my teeth out
I want to pull out all of my teeth one by one and leave them scattered across the pavement
I want to drown myself in a bathtub, and not scream and kick as the water slowly rises
>>
>>25602388
do it then, i mean jeez

This is my plan to imbue myself with the Russian spirit. I will study Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Orthodox Christianity and Marxism.

I enjoyed this. Reminds me of my favorite bloodbath song:
>I've had but one desire
>since I was born
>to see my body
>ripped and torn.
>To see my flesh devoured
>before my eyes
>only for you I volunteer
>as a human sacrifice.
>Carve me up,
>slice me apart.
>Suck my guts
>and lick my heart.
>Chop me up
>I like to be hurt
>drink my marrow
>as a dessert.
>Eaten.
>My one desire,
>my only wish
>is to be
>eaten.

Yadda yadda. You get the point. Also, this:

I'm jealous. Happy for your success. Favorite writers?

I had a dream a company was taking celebrity's heads and putting them into some sort of formaldehyde bowling ball while keeping them alive. Most celebrities that were singing up for this were sick and dying, but some of them were just old and looking for a paycheck. It freaked me out and then I woke up.

I love Borges. I went to public school here in the United States so I had no idea who Borges was until /lit/ introduced me to him in 2015. His stories are favorites of mine.

>What's that one about? I dont really read new things that arent textbooks.

It's set in medieval Russia and is about a boy, later a man, with the power to heal people by his touch. He becomes a doctor, then he becomes a holy fool, then he makes a pilgrimate to Jerusalem, then he becomes a monk. It's a very, very Christ-filled book, but in a way that feels beautiful and profound rather than kitschy and preachy. You should give it a shot.

Gotta go in for my methadone refill tomorrow. We leave at 5am and I usually get home around 8:40am. Anyone wanna join me? Be prepared to pay bus fare!
>>
>>25602285
Hmmmm a- celebrity but a+ in their genre. I feel like an a+ in pop would automatically make them an a or a +celebrity. Idk if rap would make sense here. No jazz, blues, ambient, or classical musicians existing would be an a- celebrity. I'm going to guess some rock or metal artist. Possibly a band like avenged sevenfold, sabaton, ffdp, or one of those somewhat commercial and successful modern bands. I'm probably completely wrong.
