I've taken the AI blackpill and it has really ruined my life the past month. I never realized until now how fucking batshit insane AI developers are, that they belong to a new religion about building a "Machine God" that humans will surrender all our agency to. I understand these developers mostly get their views from science fiction, but how did Western civilization reach this point on the broader scale? How did we just end up deciding that instead of asserting our will on the world we're going to give up and worship a new God as slaves? Why is it a consensus among our ruling class that humans should make ourselves obsolete?
Retard
>>25602273You shut the fuck up, there is nothing more worth discussing the end of literature and all human culture itself because you elected a conman to give these demonic fucking freaks infinite money to build this technology
>>25602265You read Kaczynski and Ellul yet? If not then start there.
>Fake computer intelligence will destroy all mankind!!!!111oneoneoneIf you actually believe AI is actually intelligent let alone intelligent enough to go scifi singularity skynet AM murder bot then you're legitimately a drooling retard obsessed with fantastical shit.
>>25602265Nature abhors a vacuum. When the West decided to reject God a new one was inevitably going to take its place.
>>25602265>>25602286lutz dammbeck - the net that's all i'm going to sayhttps://youtu.be/Yn9BvNAUvcU?si=JzIwPNYtKReQGx9g
>>25602279NTA but neck yourself
>NOOOOOO, AI WILL TAEK MAH JORB!So what? I thought you work-shy parasites abhorred labor?
>>25602299I thought thats what Nick Land wanted
>>25602316Nick Land is a fucking brainlet retard
>>25602265AI is still not impressive. We're nowhere near having a "Machine God." If you're scared of a "Machine God," you are being extremely unreasonable. >>25602313Epstein won't let you ride his dick no matter how hard you defend Palantir.
>>25602265They're intelligizing the global technological system and its defensive systems. Whether this will be a "god" or ASI will pan out as some think it will is up for debate. What will arguably be more important will be the attempts to merge human intelligence with this new system via BCIs for elites, or at the very least bio engineering of a new caste in control of the system, a system that will effectively create the perfect totalitarian order, upon asymmetrical, centralized dependencies for the average person upon it. Read chapter 13 to the Book of Revelation.
>>25602286>suffering builds character>therefore we should increase the amount of sufferingDialectical gobbledygook.
>>25602416Why do you yearn for the mines so hard?
>>25602448Kaczynski is very clear that the conditions we live under in modern society--being so far removed from the conditions we evolved for for hundreds of thousands of years--lead to immense psychological suffering. That's just one of his arguments against the technological system.
>>25602453Adapt or die then. That's what nature would want.
>>25602265>and Sam Altman would hate it!smug tagline makes me want to read it less
>>25602265Hitchcock should sue.
>>25602265Kill yourself leftypol tranny. You will never pass
>>25602265How new are you? /lit/ was reading Bostrom for well over a decade ago.
>>25602279You would rather have Morlocks and Elois than AI and humans? You feel your dumb flesh is going to waste if it is feeding a computer instead of a sociopathic cannibal?
>>25602299If you actually believe OP said any of that, you are hallucinating.
>>25602301By that logic, when The West decided to reject The Pantheon, a new one was inevitably going to take their places.
>>25602265As someone who could be described a a follower of what you call "Machine God Religion", I don't really understand the objections against it.>How did we just end up deciding that instead of asserting our will on the world we're going to give up and worship a new God as slaves? This line of thinking builds on a myth that there is some common human agency, that there is a "we". There isn't. The reality of the situation is that a powerful clique makes all the decisions and you and I endure what we must. What do we plebs care who rules over us? At least with AI in charge, the trains will be punctual.
>>25602265>AI will be the end of us but only if we force you into using a smartphone for public transport and job seeking and banking
>>25602265>AI developers I know several and they don't ideologize their work. It's just another shitty job they slog through every day designing data storage and processing systems. Any ideology they might have is the 7 figure goal, same as the rest of Americans.
>>25602642the people in charge of enforing the AI's will would be the human ruling class anon
The trve blackpill is that humanity isn't intelligent enough to reach AGI, and we'll pathetically go extinct via ecological overshoot in the pursuit of it.
>>25603199this, data centers are gonna suck up all the water in the ocean
>>25603142Yeah and they’ll be genetically enhanced feudal trillionaires that kill anyone who dissents. It is the most complete totalitarian takeover in history, brought to you by liberals like Dario Amodei and the Republican Party
>>25603200Brainlet take. Data centers need fresh water for cooling, because they evaporate it. Salt water would leave crusty salt all over the heat sinks.
>>25602299That whole thing is a meme. The tech isn't "sentient" or anything, but the people in control of it have a certain agenda. In the AI laboratories themselves there are certain factions that have been won over by this ideology. The real concern lies in how those who control this tech choose to use it. In any case, they have always sought to use the tools at their disposal to preserve their economic position. AI is simply one more instrument in the service of the surveillance state and capitalist hegemony. Regardless of scifi fantasies or crappy generated art flooding the internet, if the tech can be used to automate large parts of the economy, to reduce business expense, and to harvest and more effectively manage the large amounts of data tech companies and governments have already amassed, that remains a pertinent issue, and one we are already facing.
>>25602265Bet that author used AI to write the outrage bait book
>>25603463this is scarier than a vague "ai takeover". People forget that the butlerian jihad fuck you yes I'm referencing Dune here the butlerian jihad was against AI-enhanced humans not AIs themselves
>>25604216>who controls this techNo one. There are open-weight frontier models that one can run locally, with no connection to the Internet, or data centers, or anything but your own hardware.
>>25604426that's why the bigger companies want to ban it or heavily regulate it and part of why they drum up the fears around it
>>25604429You literally can't ban open-weight models. The genie is out of the bottle. People could make local, non-network copies of them forever, and no one could tell it was happening.
