Haven't been on here a while. It's been almost 10 years since I used to post here religiously. For some reason I went to warosu tonight and I read the Irishman's poems and I'm crying and I don't know why. If any of the old Anons are still around, I miss you guys.

Favorite composers?

Mine are:

1. Bach
2. Mendelssohn
3.Vivaldi
4. Dvorak
5. Vaughan-Williams
>>
>>25611118
Vaughn Williams? I would not have expected that considering your other choices. Nice. And for me, it's
Mahler, Brahms, Beethoven, Bruckner, and the fifth varies on the day you ask. Dvorak, Chopin, Bach, Scriabin. Hard to say. Anyway, no surprising choices. The best stuff rises to the top in classical.

Culture at its deepest level ceases to be something you venerate, it’s just the language you use to think. People who say (for example) ‘/lit/ is a classical board’ will never really be ‘refined’. They can be assumed on the spot to be barred from anything you might dignify with the name of culture. Real depth, real cultural literacy, tends to come with a shift in disposition, not just in taste.

Vaughan-Williams is just beautiful. I love his simultaneously looking-foward and looking-back. So many of his pieces are sublime.

I'm also something of an Anglophile and the way his music captures the English countryside is wonderful.

Here, if you've never listened to it: his oboe concerto. A real favorite of mine.

I can read 20th and 21st century cursive but 19th century cursive is absurd.
I know at least one Dutchman who refused to try reading 19th century Dutch cursive, too, so it's not just an American thing.

Thank you, but you gotta admit the "s" in "so" looks nothing like either a cursive or normal "s," and the "r," "s" and "n" in "near," "its" and "men" practically aren't written.

I have a date-ish with a 19yo girl today. Cinema. I'm over 30. I'm feeling on the fence if I should make a move or something because I don't want to give a creep vibe yet i have no idea whay she feels about me or if she actually sees me as only a friend, the physical contact with her is quite misgiving, i have no idea what it means, she randomly touches me and my legs/arms. Because it would be a non-problem if she were an adult who is capable to think for herself at least on paper. Using people for sex is not very punk rock of you, and that’s pretty much all she can offer to you at this point.

You have landed a 19-year-old. A woman who is in prime position to bear you a lot of kids.

I PROMISE you that a good, healthy marriage is possible. Marriage, children, a happy life, it's still possible. Most of us are struggling to even get to where you are, with a girl who's interested in us.

You're 60% of the way there, you've got to at least think about it.

My man, children are awesome. Babies are cool. Sons and daughters are cool. Everyone should have children. I think you'd make a better father than you expect. You've got to at least think about it, if you've managed to land a woman in prime child-bearing age. I'd say do more than just think.

I'm hyper-autistic about breaking anonymity on 4chan. I'm an autist, so of course I am, but this is the code of the site. Part of me thinks I would die if I used my real name on here. This is just 4chan etiquette; this is how we behave. I got challenged in another thread about self-promoting as a writer, what I struggled to articulate is that you just don't go non-Anon on 4chan. It simply isn't done.

I have a deep affection for this website and so I guess that has made me into a stickler for abiding by its rules, both spoken and unspoken.

I know you haven't fucked her, or even met her, but THINK about it.

Go into this with some considerations, you know? Not a plan, but concepts of a plan. Have a thought or two in mind for what might be, in the future.

You don't have to act on it or even live it out, but think about it.

Local language models running on an RTX 3060 are capable of writing in any format or style at 90th percentile or higher, and with little chance of detection. Verisimilitude of long-form text is improving extremely rapidly. I envision that a majority of new federal and corporate policy is already developed by microsoft copilot and adjacent local server solutions. There really is no solution to this in academia, art, law and governance aside from a "butlerian jihad" a la Dune.

Is there anything more insufferable than an aging millennial woman who's become so bitter and enraged, percieving it as a kind of rightous rage against society when in actuality its just vulgar spite, because she blames society for her own poor decisions?
Say what you will about women and feminsts as a whole, but I don't mind them myself, but this particular breed of them really gets my goat.

Idk either people memorize me, or more likely I grow more comfortable enough to share some personal shit, but with time I start hating my little character as much as I hate myself irl.
>>
>>25611421
As a bitter aging millennial woman, what advice can you give (besides GTFO, of course)?
>>
>>25611067
Imagine writing a book and your readerbase is milllennial women who reviewbomb the goodreads page, forever pushing you into the wells of irrelavancy because you themes you cover gave them the "ick." This is a real possibility I don't think /lit/ considers.
>>
>>25611427
See, I hate that shit. I'm a complicated guy of many talents and abilities. Going through the whole process is so daunting. I dont want to have to be investigated and scrutinized. I dont mind it in person, I'm pretty charming, but online has this like ersatz gatekeeping, and a certain type of person veiws me as their ultimate enemy. I'm just chillin', I like to write and I like to read, but at the end of the day I have no interest kowtowing to some existing order. Not only that, in the creative writing space someone like me is some sort of abberation. It's rare to find mildly talented people without a giant paper trail behind them, and those with large paper trails seek to destroy me.

At the end of the day, I like what I have here: low commitment, high upside, minimal flak, continuity only if I wish for it. We're no strangers to love, you know the rules and so do I.
>>
>>25611349
There's nothing autistic about taking precautions not to doxx yourself on a platform that is constantly raided by bad actors. Not just 4chan, the internet and the world in general are full of evil psychopaths who can't wait to use anything you give them against you, even if it's just to take someone else down a notch or simply to enjoy someone squirm. It isn't for fun that people are becoming more and more isolated when one misstep can fucking haunt you for the rest of your life and probably future generations forever. People in the best era on the internet were way more careful with their identity than they are today where every dumb ass nigger is online and the threat level has skyrocketed. It takes ONE autistic faggot who decides one day that he doesn't like you to get a hate following and death threats.
>>
>>25611429
Stop being online, stop being taken away by the world's bigger problems and become balanced within yourself and your community.
I posted my post because on my local town social media page a shopkeeper posted CCTV of a man, possibily swarthy although it was too dark to tell, smashing up his shopfront. The top comment was a bitter millennial woman dismissing the concerns of the lowering community cohesion, and random acts of vandalism, because of muh society. As if it's okay for people to go around acting in such ways because the overall system doesn't care, even though that doesn't defend the act. A lot of people are dispossessed, doesn't mean they go around acting in violent and aggressive manners.
Upon clicking on her profile her top post was: "I apologise to my children for who their father is," and after that an extremely misandrist post blaming men for everything -- when one could infer her misandrist views are borne from her choice in men. It's just genuinely schizo behaviour, and not the mindset of a mentally sane person. I'm no saint, and have got carried away with bitterness in my life, but I always try to recitify that behaviour in those instances, not make it a way of life.
I dunno why I care so much, but I just hate this condescending attitude that I've noticed in that particular demographic.

Nah man. Nobody gives a fuck. Even the autismos dont give a fuck. Especially somewhere like here it takes a great deal of intent to piss one of them off enough to be mad for more than a week. Low volume spaces? Different story.

To be doxxed one must have identity, documents, and piss off someone with enough stake in the game to either muster a following, or the resources of a professional. True people search (in america) has basically everyone on it. What can be done with that information? Not much that doesnt involve an easy way to destroy yourself. Watch those forensic shows; you can find basically anyone based on their search history. Sure they could do something incredible, but they're also getting caught promptly. The worst thing is usually just people being annoying.

But to add, online identity security is fairly easy, even here. The .exif data is scrubbed when you post a picture. Review whatever you're posting to make sure there is nothing identifiable. Think reflections of important things, mail sitting near by, or identifiable things like tattoos or unique parts of wherever you are. And if posting, use a pseudonym with the knowledge it can always be indexed in the archive, so only use it for topics you want to share. No drunken attentionwhoring. Finally, dont put anything online you wouldnt want on the front page of the newspaper, or more specifically, you wouldnt want to be associated with you and your family. But if you must, make sure you try your best to anonymize yourself with the previous precations.

Explain to me like i am a retard, why is this World so much into humiliation ? You observe the strong mistreating the weak beginning in elementary school, a pattern that repeats throughout high school and university, continues into work environments and intensifies significantly online. Corporations routinely diminish their customers through price increases paired with declining product quality, while governments similarly undermine their citizens by extracting taxes and subsequently misallocating funds toward psychological operations, endless conflicts, corrupt practices. Nothing new under the sun and it has been like this for thousands of years, but it remains a persistent concern.

The weak mistreat the strong far more than the opposite, particularly now.

A large man capable of violence is restrained by order, logic, honor, and custom. A weak man incapable of violence is constrained by none of that, and use that to their advantage to simulate violence. Our issues at the moment are that honor is seen as inefficient. Honorable to me, but not for thee. The large man must adhere because elsewise Hobbes murders him in his sleep. The weak man has no fear other than the fear of the direct, and when everything is buffered, the weak fester without unheaval.

Anyways, in ooga booga for you, small sneak man bad, big punch man different bad. Rules made for big punch man, not small sneak man. Big punch man punch other big punch man to save small man. Small sneak man no punch nobody, no save nobody.

if i go to the "rock" section of apple music the top "new release" is fontaines d.c. i just put their new hit single from their new album on it has a bunch of a synthesizers and drums covered in digital reverb, it's so over for guitars
>>
>>25611589
Fair point. But I guess the counter to that would be all the older classic albums didn't start existing, and when you make and release a new album, you're still competing with them, so you have to do something new and different.

It was pretty clear in the original post.

A society founded on physical prowess has built in safety features bred into their stalwarts for millenia, even through the natural process of age. A society that finds deception or negotiation virtuous has no virtue because the champions can remain powerful forever, and have no reason to give anything good back to anyone else. Even the most fearsome barbarian needs a wife and to raise his children, so he needs someone else to protect them when absent. A fearsome spy is always lying and cannot protect anyone other than themselves because their virtue is founded in deception, and deception answers every problem without compromise. So, as the internet has neutered physical prowess, we see the world we have today, faggot.

I wonder what percentage of men would if they were in a position of authority abuse their power for sexual ends, like dangling job opportunities. I wonder if I would do it. You gotta wonder if you would do it. I mean of course we all say no but you never really know until you are actually in the seat. Me, I don't think I'd do it primarily because of the risk of broaching the offer and causing trauma, which is to say, if the girl initiated it, and seemed cool with it, I think I'd give in.

Yes, that's how it works most of the time, with the sexual interactions being consensual, but don't act like the Harvey Weinsteins and Terry Richardsons don't exist too, with the person in the position of authority broaching or even demanding sex or risk professional or academic consequences to an unwilling, uncomfortable woman.

Just because I'm a man of my word: the date went OK, nothing extraordinary happened, a lot of physical contact but no kissing or anything. Movie dates kind of suck as dates though. And holy shit modern popular movies are some cringe shit, I'm glad I can download obscure movies and watch whatever I want on the internet. I wouldn't want to live in a period where the cinemas decide what I can watch.

Well, happy it happened but I'm still in the same level of confusion as before. Don't think I'm going to be having daughters with her any time soon
>>

>>25611702
Here is some dating advice. Take her to a standup comedy show. Its a bit different and informal, lots of laughs without the pressure of being the entertainer, a bit of booze, and usually more fun than a movie because you are more free to talk.
>>
>>25611706
...so the first step is to engage with the art.

Good dates are not ones where you can't talk and they aren't single location affairs. Take her to a coffee place, leave the coffee place and oh gee here's this dessert shop, have a dessert, leave it and say "oh huh I wonder where this path goes" that's behind the shop that you know goes down to a park, towards the end of that you "realize" there's a show later tonight you wanted to see but probably you should get dinner first.

There's a part of her mind that reads this as her having been on six dates with you instead of one. It feels more interesting. It's rarer than the mercenary "choose place go to place go home" thing that's she's usually given.

Can't always pull that off, especially if you live in some shitty little town, but that's what a good date is.
>>
>>25611954
Why though?
>>
>>25611969
that’s actually gay. that’s like what a girl thinks a good date looks like. the actual best dates are somewhere you can sit next to (not across from) her, and then you just tap her on the shoulder and make fun of other people at the bar.
>>
I haven’t been on date for decades. I remember going out in my teens, but it was only in my thirties when it dawned on me that it was actually a date. Coincidentally, one of these outings was the time when I peed myself in public. Good thing I don’t go on dates anymore I guess!

I hate to admit it, because it shouldn't be that serious, because it was only for a few days, but I can't believe how upset I am over this. And I'm too stressed, dont have the time to unpack why it bothered me this much. I'm writing this with a drop in my stomach, and a lump in my throat. All I wanted was for someone to prove through a very insignificant, almost meaningless act that they care about me. That for once, I'm not the only one who has feelings or has the stronger feelings. You refused to do that very small gesture. Then, on top of that, you insulted me. If I had a smidge of respect for myself, I would have forgotten all about you the next day. But I didn't. In my mind, if you could see the misunderstanding, if you could see my point of view... You'll see that I'm not this heartless bitch that you made me out to be. That you're not a bad person, just someone who has a bad temper and a good heart. But how do I reconcile this "good heart" of yours with you never walking back the insults even though I didn't say shit to you.
And worse, I admit I fell for your persona. For some reason I do believe strongly that you are a warm person, even though with a little sober analysis, I can only find evidence to the contrary. That you're a self absorbed person who talks *at* the other party in front of him. That you're not interested in the other person, they're only an audience for you to show off. And when the audience praises the performance, it gets boring, and that's why imo you say you don't like your friends. Not because they're bad people, but if they're critical, then they're these evil turds, and if they're too approving then they have no personality, obviously dumb, your complexity evades them...

By all means, I shouldn't look back twice. But I'm lonely. So lonely that I wished so hard you were the warm person you described and I wanted your love. I even don't think if we were to ever talk again that we'll patch things up, that there will always be a rift, that it's useless, and yet I crave, miss.. the person you claimed to be, whom you very likely are not. I miss the hope, chance... that I might be finally loved by someone warm, effectionate... I miss that fantasy.

I'm building a database.

I ride a wide variety of bus routes throughout town throughout the entire day, and whenever I come across an attractive girl/woman, I mark it down as provisional. I then make sure to ride that same route and time for the following two days (in order to cover both M-F and MWF or TThu schedules), and if I see them again, I officially add them to the database: route+time+a short description of the woman.

With this, I will have plotted myriad opportunities to run into and meet an endless amount of attractive women in the city. I will sell access to this database for $25 a month.

I'm not actually doing this but I just thought it up in the shower and thought it was creative + welcome to the modern world of analytics

Lucky is the man to whom that is possible at every moment of his life; in whose breast those two factors have not only come to an agreement but have joined hands and been wedded—a marriage which is neither a mariage de convenance nor a mésalliance but a tranquil marriage of love held in the most secret chamber of man’s heart, in the holy of holies

father, husband, citizen
my body drawing its soul in its wake or vice versa until that total withdrawal into the vast whiteness is visible only as a brimming absence so that finally there is nothing left, body and soul all gone, and these residual pulses and rhythms which for these waning moments, abide in their own recurrent measure, nothing more than a vague strobing of the air before they too are obliterated in that self-engulfing light which closes over everything to be

By unhappy happenstance, the man met an Angel along the road.
"Why do you hesitate?" asked the Angel, "Your destination lies ahead."
The man, choked by emotion, could only point. See there! Leagues away, in the deep woods, another road led in twisting, swiveling fashion towards oblivion. And along that road walked a Friend.
"He goes it alone," said the Angel. "That one cannot be rescued."
The man found his voice and, weeping as a child might, clutched at the Angel's robe.
"For what reason must we walk this way? Different paces, different places. I possess foreknowledge of his doom, oh God, if only he would listen! Let me see him, I beg."
"Be reasonable, man! Your Friend cannot hear you from leagues away. You cannot slow his journey, let alone alter it. Leave him!"
The man saw that wherever his Friend went, he left behind footprints, scarlet and sticky, and his heart shattered. My Friend, my dear Friend! You have cut your foot and do not even realize it! Why must you be mutilated? Why did the powers on high put this madness in your mind, this hateful fucking wanderlust, and not mine?
"In the end, he will feel great regret," said the man, and the Angel agreed.
"At the end of all things, there is only this secret: No principle can save you from yourself."
And the man went ahead, quietly, and by unhappy happenstance arrived at his destination unharmed, in good health, and alone.

criterion channel duh
>>
>>25612880
yeah that's why u can never trust a writer's interpretation of their own work aka death of the author, sometimes they just channel the current cultural moment into something better than they intended

In Barcelona there is a wretchfucker game we call The Two Whores. It is Russian Roulette with one player, six chambers, two bullets. Two Whores waiting to taste you. It is customary to offer the gambler a last drink, free of charge. You have to pull the trigger three times without spinning it. If by the third click you are not dead, you win.
Sometimes we offer money, or beautiful women, or beautiful girls. The depraved take the risk. We tell them there is only a twenty per-cent chance they walk away. That is 1-in-5 my friend. But better men have been wretchfucked with far worse odds, so the depraved try it anyway. Click click bang, or Click bang, or just bang (quickshot!). One whore or the other takes him. But sometimes, only sometimes, you can hear it.
>BANG CLICK CLICK
I swear on my life, I have heard it. The dead man's desire is so great that the limbs obey even after the brain has flown the coop.
Not even the twins, with one burning kiss or the other, could inspire such dedication. A man's need to win is greater than his own life, and that is the only way a gambler can triumph over Death.

Pretty good writingslop. I read the whole thing.

I find that great writers act on a level of outside-ness. As in, the things that come to them that makes their work great is very often seperate from themselves, even if their writing is a direct expression of their thoughts and feelings. The great writers who can channel this outside-ness are the ones with numerous great works to their names; whereas the ones who can't often only have one great work and a series of mediocre works.

Want this girl to text me just so I can get a pathetic and petty victory over her by ignoring her; although I am aware she will never text me nor think about texting me again.

I quite like the photograph you've chosen to open the thread.

This irks me because you wrote something good, but it could have been great.
>wretchfucker game
Huge amount of worldbuilding in two words. Instantly gives the reader an idea of who this guy is, what his crew does for entertainment, and catches your attention.
>Two Whores waiting to taste you
>BANG CLICK CLICK
Evocative, I like it.
>We offer them money, or beautiful women, or beautiful girls.
Nastiest line in the story, hooked me when I was about to quit reading. Very good.
>that ending
Needs work.
The ultimate point of the story is that a gambler can 'defy death' by moving when he's not supposed to. Neat concept, needs foreshadowing.
I would add a line about how the '1 in 5' people didn't really 'beat death,' they just postponed it. The only true victory comes from possessing a spark of free will even after your body shuts down.
I'd also move that line about the free drink to the start of paragraph two. Flows better and also segues (segways? fuck english) into the line amount money, women, and lolis.
7/10, will be a strong 8/10 with work

We should start offering such a game to fentanyl addicts in the US. Solve the drug epidemic right quick.

I should abandon the idea of physical notebooks. There's no way to organize them in a tidy way for me.

Sometimes I just like the feeling of writing something down by hand, as opposed to a keyboard.

You could try the Nabokov index cards method. Easy to organize and freely arrange those.

You would be unable to resist sending a zinger back, which you would read the next day and realize has an obvious and embarrassing double meaning, and then be stuck in your current situation but worse. Just go get in your car and drive through the part of town the homeless live in and lay on your horn while you drive through slowly in the middle of the night, go back home, and call it over.

I need it to be absolutely frigid in my bedroom to sleep.
Window is currently wide open and finally it's starting to cool down in here.
It's especially important that my room is cold tonight because I'll be using the electric heating pad on my swollen lymph nodes in my neck, as I drift off to sleep listening to The Butcher of Nazareth (hopefully I'll finish it tonight).
>>
>>25613261
Hope you slept well, dear! It rains in my area, and I’m going to head back to office soon - and also back to French prepositions hopefully. Relish yourself on the fact that it’s wet and cold somewhere whilst you get to relax in your comfy bed :3

New tactic: watch a bunch of movies with masculine, confident, cool male main characters in hopes of becoming more like them.

Guess I'll watch Hitch one time before it leaves Netflix. I used to watch this movie over and over on pay-per-view back in 5th-6th grade.

Burnt one last log, this one covered in green moss. I killed a living thing. Didn't need to.
