>novel about leet hacker in le future>he just tells an ai to deploy a chinese trojan that his boss gave him kekLmao Gibson predicted vibe hacking
I liked the part where the text described how much he looked like a dead animal after being awake for 48 hours straight hacking in space and being repeatedly turned braindead
>>25626737This one is really cool. One of my fondest memories.
the entire novel is disqualified by the comma in the first sentence

>>25626737Yeah Gibson has no clue about anything technical. Whenever things get specific he just hand-waves.Often he gets away with it. But it's particularly annoying with the character of Case. The point is, Case is a fairly annoying little shit. We would like and respect him a more if we got a sense of him being good at his job. You can forgive someone a lot who has mastered something difficult. But Gibson clearly has zero idea of what hacking or coding or anything actually involves. So he can't SHOW us Case being talented; all he can do is TELL us he is, which isn't good enough.Gibson just babbles. The closest he gets, as I recall, is when they're breaking into that software house to steal the construct of the other guy, and it says something like "Case started a few subprograms". So we're presumably meant to think he does write little viruses and stuff to help him crack the security. But we need more details, and more plausible details, and we don't get them.As you said, all we see is Case running some mega program that someone else gives him. Any twelve-year-old moron could do that. (It even has a super-advanced user interface. He says "it speaks pretty good English" or something. So Case literally has to do nothing except say "hack into that AI" lol.)

>>25628933Wireless connections can be hacked. That's hacker 101 and Gimpson shouldn't even need to explain it
