My favorite used bookstore closed.
>>

hate it when that happens. Which one?
>>
I used to buy used copies of margaret atwood books to impress the girl at the checkout counter and strike up a conversation with her. Too bad she never read them.

Once, the attractive mature woman who runs my favorite used bookstore complimented my taste for buying this edition of De Sade's with an ass on the cover
>>

I am the one that did it. specifically to harm and demoralize you so you will not grow up to be a dangerous rival.

>she works at a used book store
Heh, right where she belongs, dusty, decrepit tome, a real quick read
>>
>>25629211
Be glad that you even had a decent one near you to begin with. The only bookstores in my area exclusively sold overpriced shit for teens and middle aged moms, with "flashy" covers and giant letters like out of a book for pre-schoolers.

Take comfort from the fact that its stock was bought up for pennies, shredded, and fed into a Large Language Model.
>>
>>25629652
I'm prepared to read De Sade, but I draw the line at Janet Street Porter.

Once I lived in a right shithole in London just up the street from possibly the city's best used book shop. Was a hidden charity shop gem, not artsy fartsy or all that vibe. I guess the last few old stock Londoners with impeccable taste just kept dying in the local area. I got some seriously good shit from there.

Every man needs a physical vibe shelf to give women the ick

That's where you keep your hardbound Homer, your WW2 history and Flashman.
>>
>>25630081
this is true. My physical shelf is nothing but copies of Mein Kampf and all the arthoe shit goes on the e-reader

What's the best online alternative? Preferably with worldwide shipping
>>
>>25630114
prolly abebooks
>>
>>25630114
i don't know how it is worldwide but ebay is where I get most of my books. Can find most shit for like 5 bucks free shipping unless it's rare or newer

>best used book store in town is the only store left in its shopping center
>every time I go in manga takes up more and more of the front of the store
>mainly run by troons and fags so the rest is with spiritual junk and political doodads
>barnes and noble is the closest book store
>the next one is a books a million almost 45min away
>>
>only used book store in town is solely owned and operated by a nice lonely old man
>he gets really sick
>closes book store
>no one to take it over, not profitable enough to sell
>he dies
>building remains empty and run down

>every day I read the blog of the store owner of my favorite bookstore
>very often he writes about low sales, even as low as one sale a day
Fuck full time employment, I miss dropping by his place three times a week, rather than one.
>>
>>25629211
Just wait till your favorite grocery store closes.
>>
>>25631332
Post link, I genuinely want to read a bookstore owner's blog.
>>
Good. Just go to the library, faggot

Already happened for me. Farmer's market opened in 1964. Trump's economy killed it this year.

Should've bought more books from them. You selfish, miserly bastard.
>>
>>25631682
The bookstore by me does things to make people want to come in. In the summer, on weekends, they throw all their excess books in boxes out on the sidewalk and sell them for 10 cents each. It actually works to drive business too, I spent $100 on a book impulsively after being drawn in by the cheap books
